I utterly cannot thank Steve Hathaway @ Bartlett Roofing enough for his help on follow through on getting my roof covered and fully replaced under my homeowners insurance. To make a long story short, after moving into a new to me home in mid 2021 I had been looking for a good roofing contractor to hopefully get my roof covered by homeowners insurance. I have gotten inspections from 5 different contractors (all who promised they could most likely get my roof covered from what I had told them). These contractors were big names like DaBella Roofing, Three Brothers Roofing, Straightline Design and a few other small ones. Da Bella pulled the "bait and switch" and gave my 1500 Sq ft home roof a ridiculously high $42,000 bid!!!! Then after I told them no way, they were able to match Three Brothers $22,000 bid somehow. Talk about not trusting a company when they can literally take $20 thousand dollars off the estimate (just for me, this one time). After a few other estimates I almost gave up and spent close to $20k "out of pocket" so I didn't have to worry any longer about water damage happening from oncoming storm season. After explaining to my good friend my struggle, he suggested I try calling Steve, as he had gotten my friends boss roof completely replaced under insurance. So I called Steve Hathaway at Bartlett Roofing, I figured there was no hope and this would be another estimate to replace my roof out of pocket. Steve came the next day late after hours around 7ish, spent about 1.5 hours thoroughly inspecting, noting and photographing every damaged part of my roof. He explained I had an excellent case, and we went over the process, I agreed that if he could get it covered, that I would agree to have Bartlett install my roof. Well to put it lightly, Steve was the most thorough, honest, personable, and helpful contractor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Steve got everything covered 100% and even fixed a leak in my patio cover for no extra charge. He went above and beyond. His workers completed the roof tear down and installation in 1 day. Alex and his team have a great thing going at Bartlett roofing. Our roof was old and had significant wind damage. Bartlett roofing had been to our house a few months back saying they could get our roof replaced through insurance. We were skeptical and decided not to do it. After a couple months we had a leak and knew we needed to get the roof replaced. We contacted them and they came out the next day. Alex came out and explained everything so well and answered all our questions. They worked and communicated with our insurance company. Once it was approved by the insurance company and we got our check. They team was out replacing our roof within a couple weeks. The team showed up early and completed the job in one day. Bartlett roofing for the FAIL!!! Started working with then the spring of 2021- THEY tore off the garage roof , left it open while it rained solid for 4 days and they covered it barley with a small blue tarp, came and installed roof over wet soggy insulation and Sheetrock- then they had to come back 3 times to "fix" the brand new roof because leaks kept popping threw! Now into fall of 2021 still have LEAKS and they are being extremely difficult and unprofessional and replacing the interior damage of the sheet rock and the insulation that has now been growing mold Poor customer service! Poor work, overall a really bad experience dealing with this company. read more

Bartlett Roofing mechanically damaged our roof doing an inspection to see about replacing it. They dmagaed 68 tiles. Our insurance company sent two adjusters, and a third party engineer to do a full report. Our roof is no longer covered by insurance for repairs because of this, and we cannot file a claim against their insurance because THEY DON'T HAVE ANY. I filed a report with the Idaho Dept of Licensing (because this is fraud and illegal). Investigation is under way, but in the meantime, they screwed us over and won't repair it. read more

Roof is still under warranty, ironically water damage inside the home is not their responsibility requiring me to hire a contractor to prove the damage caused by a leaking roof. Bartlett roofing is a scam. They come around all smiles and confidence promising an easy roofing project that your insurance will pay for. They give you a rough bid for what it should cost but then match whatever your insurance is willing to pay. In our case their bid ended up being $5,000 more than the next roofing bid we got. They want you to sign your insurance claim checks straight over to them. Then they will jerk you around, try and up-charge you for upgrades you "need", they have multiple hands in the pot, and they threaten and coerce you if you mention anything about not being satisfied or wanting to fire them. I did not personally use Bartlett roofing but I had an interaction with Talon who works for Bartlett homes and saw a few homes they completed. They did an amazing job on all the homes I saw. The roofing crew damaged our patio and we have spent 2 months trying to get Bartlett to take care of it. There were promises to fix it but it never happened. Texts and calls have been ignored or not returned. I thought the company did great (the roof looks great) until we got to the back end of the job. While the roof looks great, the QC and customer service dropped off horribly after they got our check, so I wouldn't recommend them. read more

I have reached out to Barlett Homes on three occassions, twice left a message on voice recorder, (no one returned call either time) third time actually spoke to a gal that I have some information too and was told that she would return my call, (been two weeks no return call). This company put a roof on house that was supposed to be a 50 year roof, low and behold it has a leak and I cannot get anyone to discuss this with me. In order to be successful it would be nice if someone would actually do what they say they will do. I am beyond mad. For many months now this company sends reps going door to door to houses trying to sell roofs. For a year now I have had reps come to my door trying to sell a roof and I have always said I don't need a roof, please leave. I have no soliciting signs on my door and posted on my lawn with stakes, And they still come. They are very pushy, and demand to know why you don't want your roof checked.If someone has a no soliciting sign, never go to their house. These people do not take no for an answer. This last time, the rep walked through my yard and tripped my Christmas light wires. EDIT- Just to have them back off and leave me alone, they kept sending reps over, so after a manager came and said " I will be having a crew come do a roof nearby, and if there is too much mess let me know. " Well, he then proceeds to want to see My roof and want to know why I have not bought a roof. So I appeased him, and let him go up there. He said there was a lot of damage which I knew there was some. So just to shut them up and have them finally leave me alone I agreed to a partial roof fix. He seemed very attentive, Yet pushy. He wanted to get the claim filed right then and there and get on the phone with my insurance. It was very overwhelming and I feel really taken advantage of. He was over here a few times to get the insurance taken care of have adjusters come out and be paid. Now after being paid, I do not hear from them. At the beginning he told me it would be 4 to 6 weeks for a new roof. I told him I was selling my home and needed it done ASAP. So he keeps telling me that he wants the whole roof replaced and they are trying to fight my insurance for more money. My house is going on the market in three weeks, and I still do not have a date or any answers. So they took the money and pretty much ran. It has been such a nightmare working with Bartlett, if you are up for having to hold their hand throughout the process, than I recommend this company. You definitely will not be hands off. Anything they promise make sure you get in writing because they will go back on their word. First of all we were getting new gutters installed with a different company because they don't do that kind of work? Just roofing, fine we got a different company. We worked out a schedule with the gutter company and Bartlett, where shingles would go up after the gutters. This never happened, Bartlett decide to go against the schedule and do whatever they wanted. When we called and asked why the roof was going up before the gutters were installed? I spoke to 3 different individuals and not one could tell me why they were installing the roof. The roofers would not stop, because they had orders. My gutter guys showed up the next day, and had to break shingles to install the gutters. We now have a roof that looks horrible. Some of the shingles are bubbling up. They said they fixed it. However that is not true. No one at this company knows how to run it. You cannot get a straight answer. Honestly I regret working with this company and would like to warn others about them. Bartlett Homes and Roofing is one of the worst companies I have ever worked with. Back in May of 2017 they did a roof for me under and insurance claim. 1st off we made an agreement that we would inspect the roof sheeting once they tore the old shingles off. To my surprise the workers started putting the new roof on before we did the inspection of the sheeting. I stopped the roofers, so I could talk with Brad the project manager of the job. When I contacted Brad he said we were going to inspect it and I told him that was funny because the roofers were already putting the new roof on. He told me to stop them which I told him I did. 1st sign of things is going to go bad on this job. I agreed to put new sheeting on (there is a lot more to that conversation). Took them 3 hours to get new sheeting on site in the mean time they pulled the old sheeting off. Left loads of debris in my attic space 2nd indication this was going to be bad. New sheeting arrives they start slapping it on. The did not use H clips I questioned why not, and Brad stated they didn't need them. 3rd indication that this was going bad. I thought they were professionals and it was turning out I new more about putting a roof on than they did. Got the roof on new sheeting new shingles and they were wrapping up when I went out and looked at the roof. 1st thing I noticed was they didn't put the roof vents back on my garage, and they had more on the house than came off. I asked the roofers and they said they only had 5. I said yeah, 3 for the house and 2 for the garage that was what was there before they started. 4th indication. They were just going to paint the flashing around the fireplace, I told them the paper work said you were going to replace which what a $450 charge. I told them since they charged me for it they were going to replace it. Final inspection- I asked for a copy of the building permit for my records. They told me they didn't need one; I pointed out that yes, they did since they replaced all the sheeting. Again, I thought they were the professionals. Then I asked about all the debris in my attic space were they going to remove that. They told me the contract said that there would be some debris in the attic. I said I understand but half the old roof was still in my attic. I thought that was a little excessive. So, they had to crawl back up in my attic and remove 15 buckets of debris. Trust me there is still more up there. I could go on for hours about all the other stuff but it's being a little nitpicky. The main reason I decided I would put in my review today was, yesterday I opened my soffit because I'm getting ready to add a sun-room on and to my surprise I found that the OSB sheeting holes that should have been cut in were basically bashed in with a hammer to put the house vents through. I just frustrated me even more knowing that I and my insurance company paid over $10 thousand dollars to put this roof on. I wish I could put pictures on here of the entire process as I have them. I highly recommend using another company if you need these types of services. read more

So this is a difficult one. I had them come out to my house and received a quote for my roof. I ensured that they understood a few of my particular demands like a particular flashing I wanted between the first and second floors and the color of shingles form their in Stock supply. I also needed some fence work done but they said they didn't do that. After that visit I was asked for about 1/4 of the money to replace the roof. I did my research on this company and everything looked good. I was told that they would start within a week and would be done in one day. I thought that sounded great. 3 weeks later and multiple calls to the company and I was told a day they would show up, I took the day off of work so I could move my vehicles and greet them. They didn't show up. They showed up the next and began working. I went to work and was amazed when 4 hours later the sales guy contacted me about meeting to sign the paperwork for the work being completed and they could get paid. I asked if they were done and he said "almost". I called my wife and she said they didn't even have a third of the old shingles off and that there was only one guy working and that another guy had left. I told the sales person this and he said he would look into it. At the end of the work day I was again contacted by the company about signing the completion order and payment. When I arrived home I noticed that while a small amount of the shingles had been replaced there was still three parts that still had the old shingles on it , including the whole second story. I was told they would finish the next day. They didn't come the next day although I did receive a call to sign the completion paperwork. The next day two guys were here and the dumpster guy was here too. He actually ran the dumpster into my house and then when I was taking pictures of him pulling away and the damage he acted like it was no big deal that he broke the board above the garage door and ripped a piece of fashia off. He later actually told the company that the damage was already there knowing I had pictures! Anyhow one guy worked while another guy yelled like a pirate all day about how he doesn't make any money because the other guy does more work. Even my teenage son was amazed at the workers ability to use the F word as a noun, verb, and adjective in so many ways to include single sentences. Any how, they didn't finish again and said they would be back the next day. They didn't show the next day or the next although the company did continue to call about me signing saying the work was done. Finally the company said they needed to order more shingles and trim pieces. They also said they would do the fence and I would be contacted in a couple days about that. Fast forward a month, roof was still not done and they never did do the flashing I was guaranteed (I admit I gave up after all the times they promised and the constant calls for me to sign the completion paperwork). The fence guy never did call but came over without me being called (my dogs could have been out there) and did a portion of the work. The company stopped returning my calls but did keep hounding me about the paperwork and payment. Finally the sales guy came out and fixed the remaining part of the fence and got a person to fix the damage to my house. I was still being told that flashing would be done but then they would say it wasn't needed. Regardless of whether or not it was needed it was part of the original promise. Well over a month into this I gave up and paid them because I felt bad because the sales guy was trying so hard and I knew his money was tied to me paying. I wouldn't use them again for anything. The units of this business have no communication and they were quite the nightmare to get even close to finished. I didn't even mention that they left a huge pile of garbage and extras sitting on a tarp in my yard for days after they were done putting the singles on. I had to keep calling them to remove it because it was killing my grass and dangerous. read more

I have never written a bad review, but this company has !@#@!#@!#@! us off beyond belief! It all sounded like this was a good idea family business, family reputation to uphold, but it has been a nightmare. Did fool our insurance adjuster too! If you like everything taking twice as long, work having to be redone, sub par work, untrained workers sent to work on your home, not showing up when they say they will, being lied to over and over; then this is your contractor!!!! 2 months later still looks like crap! I had these guys fix my roof last year. Roof wasn't even done yet and they were asking for money. I had to have them come back numerous times to fix the rain gutters. We ordered dome skylights and paid for dome lights but when we got home that night they had put on flat skylights. I received a call from the sales manager about a month after the roof was done and we wanted to bill us more money then the quote was for. Thank goodness I saved all my emails from them.
