That store has too many female employees who think their job is a post high school social club, where they're paid to indulge in gossip with locals they know and free to make other customers wait as their unwilling audience. Just go here first, if northbound, or wait the few exrta miles if southbound.

We stopped in Sutherlin, OR, for gas on our way to Portland . We had intended to go to McDonald's…read more But, across the parking lot from McDonald's, we saw this little place. From the outside it doesn't look like much but we were surprised that when we went in to check it out, we found that they actually have a small dining room with tables and chairs. There is a counter where you enter your order and sandwiches pay for your food. The menu is surprisingly extensive. They have both hot and cold sandwiches along with some hot entrées . I had a cold pastrami sandwich and it was very good. I liked it better than most supermarket sandwich counters and better than Subway sandwiches. My wife had a cup of Vegetable Barley Soup and Onion Rings. All in all, it was pretty good. It was far better than we expected. This is a good lesson where we should not judge a book by its cover.

Cottage cheese over 6 bucks for a medium size container a piece of smoked fish ( not even that good of flavor ) upwards of 9.00 a no roll roast which is the bottom of the barrell cost 30 + dollars any way that's probably all a guy can fit in a large plastic sack oh and you wany to get all you can in the sack because they charge you for them too any way I'm bumping the governor on a hundred bucks a sack , let's just day I did the math on my bank statement thru the 20th of this month August and it came to 908 .40 and there is still 11 days left and this included the stops to the dollar general which has also earned a reveiw for screwing the citizens of this town by jacking their prices right up there with rays highly over inflated prices i wonder what they would do if everyone just quit shopping there I'm pretty sure they would just raise there prices even more I have heard from an old employee of theirs (rays) that the port orford rays makes the most money of all of them go figure....

The store is clean, well-organized, and has decent prices; its shelves offer organic local-grown and fair-trade items for the concerned shopper. Books, juices, gluten-free foods and other items can be found throughout the shop too. I was personally impressed with the honey and organic vinegar selections. A brief conversation with the owners is enough to know that they're outgoing and friendly people with a great business plan; they project strength and fortitude, tempered with earthy personalities that will surely be mirrored by their business. I'm confident the store will succeed because this ethereal little shop will unquestionably fill a much needed demand for the people of Oakland, Sutherlin, and the surrounding rural areas. Once the store realizes it potential the elusive fifth star will be awarded. Right next to Sherm's Thunderbird Market that is similar in layout with lots of bulk items. And down the road from the town's Walmart. It seems when a new store comes in, they would try to serve a new area but no. They bunched it right next door. I did buy some crab which was excellent at a good price. I to agree with some of the reviews. Winco is good for what's on sale. The other prices aren't better than Sherm's and, possibly, more similar to Walmart's. But the using a debit card only is a drawback. I don't carry one and would have to carry it special to go there which won't happen often. I am a creature of habit. I love shopping at Sherm's and will continue to do so. Sherm's sales are excellent and the produce is excellent. The few cents difference on some things wouldn't make me switch. I buy fruit at the local orchard in summer, freezing what I can, and meat mostly at a local butcher shop or Costco, for special items.

The handicap carts are inside the store next to Customer Service so you have to search for them…read more They are locked up with a sign telling you to speak to a cashier for help. After walking over to stand in that area waiting for a cashier to be free I was told to go back to customer service. Nobody was there, the food vendor called for help after he was done with his customer, after waiting for someone to show up I was told that I have to check a cart out, show ID, leave keys or ID to be returned to me after I return the cart & check it back in. This initial process took me about all of the energy I had on my feet just to get this far, only to learn I had to jump through more hoops to get a cart, let alone return it after shopping. I walked out & will not be going back to this store. This stupid policy that makes a person who has trouble walking go to so much time & trouble to get a handicapped cart that is hidden inside the store so you have to wander & search for them in the first place is not even close to handicapped friendly. They lost my business & probably caused quite a few more disabled people more inconvenience than it is worth to shop there. This is the most ridiculous policy & they should be ashamed of themselves for making shopping more difficult than it already is for people who need to use the carts.

We needed some snacks to stock our beach house rental and this was a one stop shopping store. Their prices are a little high compared to the chain grocery stores, but that's not surprising. We don't mind paying a little more in quaint small towns. We prefer the peaceful, low traffic areas of the Oregon Coast. Employees are always friendly and helpful here. Their private parking lot has plenty of parking available. The store is clean and well stocked. I would definitely recommend.
