TLDR: Great vibes. Prices of a fancy restaurant for subpar diner food spruced up by cloth napkins and a parsley garnish. The ambience and vibe of the restaurant is upscale and located in a frequented busy area. The wait staff are dressed formally and seems like management runs a tight ship for hospitality. We swung by to check it out a few months ago and I'm still bothered by the disappointment so here I am. I ordered the Lamb Shank $39.00 and my friend ordered the New York Steak Aux Poivres $36.00. We also ordered two cocktails. The cocktails were plain - I ordered some sort of pomegranate and liquor mixer and it tasted sour and bitter. There was a notable lack of craftsmanship and sophistication to it. And for the price of $18.00 it was incredibly underwhelming. The other cocktail was no better - sour, bitter, and a hint of peach juice. The Lamb was cooked nicely, but was very bland, it also came with cous cous, and that was even more bland. I couldn't finish my dish, and had to get pizza afterwards because of how disappointing it was. My friends dish was better, but he likened it to something you could get at a mom and pop diner for a fraction of the price. I didn't want to complain or send it back especially because the waitstaff are just really doing their best. So we paid, tipped, thanked them, left, and will not be returning. I hate to be a complete snob - but if a restaurant is going to put in this much effort to aura farm a certain aesthetic, the food should at least compare. It's like they want the concept, but missed the mark by a huge landslide. Each time I go by it's empty. If you're the owner and reading this - don't waste lamb; please season it better. Hard to find, no sign outside (only on the front awning), we purposefully went for lunch on a summer Friday. From the previous reviews, we had anticipated a lively crowd of work-at-home techies taking a long lunch... but when we arrive, the place was empty. Obviously the service was good and the lady answered my vegan wife's many queries. She knows her dishes. Lunchtime prices were reasonable but when we surveyed the dinner menu, we lost our appetite: entrées as high as $40* The food was great! Fresh falafel and pita. Great Baba, hummus and red pepper dip. None too spicy. However... The ambience was not enhanced by the cheesy Pandora channel, with ads, playing on the audio while a travelogue from the Middle East blared on the big screen TV. Remember this place is not a bar. And who is Vera? What's their positioning? Their one-word description as "Mediterranean" is a bit vague. Service was attentive good. Ambiance....busy busy. ...lacking the warmth ambiance for the upscale prices. It's not a big place and tables are packed too tightly. We were all jammed in there. Drinks were knocked over by people servers passing by. Food was good fresh. We shared a bunch of starters. So you can't go wrong with the typical Mediterranean side dishes. We only had one meatball entree came with 4 meatballs for $28. I wouldn't rush to go and would wait til this new place hype has calm down a bit. read more

BarVera was an excellent choice for our anniversary. We had a reservation at 7ish on a Friday and were seated immediately. We sat at a high top across from the bar and could observe the bar and staff service of the whole space. Every table appeared to get just the right amount of checkins, which is also what we experienced. The server didn't introduce himself but was very pleasant and asked us what order we wanted food to come in. We had the Octopus and baba ghanouj as starters. The octopus was perfectly tender and was topped with baked eggplant, a potato, and frisée lettuce. It's exactly what I'm looking for when I order octopus. The baba ghanouj was a perfect texture with pomegranate seeds on top and two fresh puts on the side. It was delightfully tart and the pita was clearly freshly cooked. Highly recommend both. For mains my husband had the lamb and I had the shish tawouk. The server checked before bringing out the mains and then it was just a few minutes. The lamb absolutely fell off the bone and we took about half home and it was great day two. While the chicken was flavorful and juicy, the toum on my dish was the . For dessert we had the crème brûlée and lemon olive oil cake. The crème brûlée was light and yummy. I would skip the olive oil cake if we went again. It was good in the middle but $$ for what it was. I had the lemonade cocktail and it was yummy. My husband had the pomade and really enjoyed it. Overall I'm very happy with the service and food. We'd definitely go again. read more

Eating here feels like you're sitting in someone's home (in the best way possible). The service was great and attentive. The food was fresh and flavorful. GET the lemon potatoes!!!
