Took in a trench coat. my husband picked it up but did not inspect it. The preexisting wrinkles were still present. I have had clothes come back from this dry cleaner covered in a web of wrinkles several times now. I guess I'll have to go somewhere else or find a way to clean the clothes myself instead of paying high prices to have to iron an item myself when it should come back ready to wear. Same as the other complaints... pricing is ridiculous. Normal cotton or synthetic material shirts at $10+ to clean. Manhattan prices. Just a rip off. It's that easy. Cheaper to go to Costco and just buy new shirts than bring them here to clean. I took a child's jacket into Baryames. It was red, white and blue stripes, long sleeves, buttoned front with no collar. This jacket had been worn by each of my three brothers approximately (65) years ago and then my son wore it perhaps (48) years ago. The stains weren't identifiable - perhaps chocolate, maybe gravy. The folks at Baryames tried hard but were unable to remove the stains. Due to the age of the stain, this is understandable. Plus they didn't want to get too aggressive due to the age and sentimentality of the little jacket. read more

I recently dropped off my light weight parka at the Baryames in Holt to have the zipper replaced. At the time of pick up I was told the cost would be $88.45. I had to ask the clerk to repeat which she confirmed was the cost for the zipper and cleaning. First, I made it clear at the time of drop off that I only needed a zipper yet someone took it upon themselves to do a cleaning which was not requested nor needed. Second, I have since confirmed that the range for replacing the zipper for this jacket is between $25 and $40. As the replacement zipper appears to be a good zipper, I would expect the cost to be at the higher end of the range. I feel both concerns are a poor reflection on Baryames and in the future shall have needed alterations done by tailor. read more

RUDE Manager!! I told the store yesterday that I will no longer use their service since I was aggressively over charged AND that I was moving to Mexico March 6th. An extremely trite manager decided to call me this morning to "inform" me that I should choose another dry cleaner!!! DUH!!! LOL!! This is by far the most expensive laundry service I have encountered in more than 40 years of taking clothes to laundry. Standard price for launder of a polo-type shirt is $11+. Same to launder any pair of pants. I paid $22 + for a cotton polo and cotton pants. I called the store to ensure I did not make a mistake. By comparison, less than a mile away is Maurer's. They charge $7.25 for the pants and $6.95 for the polo. Which is significantly less expensive for the same service. Thank you read more

Drive thru dry cleaning! It doesn't get better than this! I think they even deliver. They always impeccably clean my suits, sweaters, winter coats, etc. And, they even replaced 2 missing buttons for free! Well ok, they can be a bit pricey but I paid good money for my clothes and I haven't tried any other EL dry cleaners to trust them my goods. I would recommend waiting for their specials - they usually run one for winter coats, Wednesdays are usually slacks days and they run a special on 2 piece suits every other week. read more

We've been very happy with the customer service, quality of work and overall experience with Baryames Cleaners. We use the drive thru service often as we have a young child and it makes it much more simple. The staff is always helpful and pleasant, which makes it even better. I like the idea of the drive thru as long as open posted hours. Went to store in Frandor at 12:25 pm on Saturday and was closed. Supposed to be open until 1. No one there and no sign posted. I had them dry clean an expensive king size mattress pad. When I picked it up and took it out of the packaging all of the square patterns (once perfectly flat) appeared as though they were stuffed with individual basketballs. Their response was worse than the damage done to the pad. They offered 5.00 off but also said that was the risk taken. Had I known their idea of dry cleaning was putting it in a large washer, I could have done that myself! Tamara never returned my call as they said she would the following Monday. read more

I have patronized this business for quite some time now. It is very convenient for me because I live in the area. They really do a good job and I am usually very pleased with the service. They are a bit pricey but it's worth it in the long run, it's best to go in when they have sales or you can find a coupon to help bring the cost down some. They are very efficient and they have a great staff there as well. I commend them for hiring professional customer friendly employees which most of these companies are lacking now a days. read more

Baryames is not the cheapest and far from the best. They offer specials but they love to catch you on a technicality, full price again. More to the point, they are not very good at cleaning your suits or shirts. They have cut and ripped many shirts and they have ruined at least on suit. My wife had a dress really mauled by them. Rather than doing the right thing, they blame it on you "you must have given us this torn suit." Avoid them if alt al possible. Try Meridian Cleaners or Maurers. Baryames might have been a good company, but they are lazy and quick to overcharge today. read more

Extremely disappointed with the service. My husband and I took several articles of clothing, including a dress and my husband's suit pants, in to be dry cleaned. My dress came back ruined, with ink that had clearly been "melted" and smudged. My husband's pants were carelessly ironed, and came back with double creases. The silicone that was applied by the manufacturer to give permanent creases on his pants was also melted away, leaving some marks on the outside of his pants. This was the first and only time I have ever used this chain of dry cleaners, and I will NEVER use them again. I was amazed at how careless they were for being such a well-known company, and the lack of service when we called them out on it. There are much better places to go in East Lansing...avoid if you can! read more

EDIT - The comment from Art B. below (owner) is dishonest. The snag was NOT a result of wear. It occurred during the cleaning process, a mistake that was admitted by 2 members of his staff. It is also not virtually unnoticeable. The bottom line is this: I brought a undamaged shirt to be cleaned and received a damaged one in return. His comment is further testimony to his poor business practices. I do NOT recommend Baryames for tuxedos or cleaning. They do not acknowledge the most important tenant of small business ownership: customer satisfaction. I had the dress shirt to be worn at my wedding cleaned by them. It came back with a hole and a 3" snag down the arm. They "fixed" it but the hole and snag were still completely visible and the shirt is now unwearable for any formal occasion. Instead of offering to give me money for the shirt ($69.00) or even a fraction of that, they refused and offered me $15 of store credit. I refused the store credit because I will never be using them again. PLEASE, save yourself the headache and find a cleaners that cares about its customers. read more

I took a new winter coat that had gotten something spilled on it and a sweater in for dry cleaning. When I returned, I was told that "someone" had already picked my items up. Unfortunately this was not me. The manager said she would look for it & after a few weeks of going back & forth she told me there wasn't anything she could do. I asked her to pull video tapes & she explained there weren't any at that location (the one on St. Joe & Waverly that is now closed. I told her to speak with the owner because I would like the money to replace my items & she laughed & said he probably wouldn't do much because "That is the kind of businessman he is." Really? She finally called me & told me that the owner claimed the business didn't do anything wrong but they would give me store credit for future dry cleaning. That is useless to me - why would I take more of my clothing there if it's going to get lost or stolen. I will NEVER go here again and after talking to many people & hearing similar complaints, I hope others are aware too. read more

It was an absolute nightmare experience dealing with your people! Several were rude, and smart mouthed employees, Seamstress would not do the alterations we asked for, refused. Thought at first to put in zipper, no one sent right info from Dewitt to East Lansing. Then after I talked to East Lansing they said the Seamstress refused to do part of our order due to not measuring my son herself. When we measured him with girl at Dewitt store. Then said she would do it but did not do it. Wrote a note saying she wasn't sure what I wanted. Bull, then call me! But she knew. They told me at Dewitt that our coveralls were not in the system. Someone also changed the due date from Friday the 18th of October to Nov 22nd after I complained. Not professional at all, what a joke. We will never be back~! I've patronized this business for nearly 7 yrs and by comparison it is a good dry cleaners. I take advantage of the weekly specials, drive thru drop-off and pick up, and auto billing to credit card. I find it useful to receive coupons, specials and order is ready emails. This is a good business. However, I cannot give it 5 stars because there is one wrinkle in their business practices --- the way they charge for cleaning services. There have been one to many times where I've been overcharged for a service. For example, some articles received upcharges whereas in the past there was no upcharge. I don't mind paying, but a bit of notice or some flyer informing me of the new policy for upcharges would have been appreciated. Other examples include charging a laundered shirt as a blouse, and a two piece suit as separates. I just never know what my cleaning bill will be and so sometimes that can be nerve wrecking, especially when you are trying to budget. read more

My family will never use this cleaner again. I recently took two basic sweaters to be cleaned and it cost me $19.50!!! I called two other dry cleaners in the area and realized they would have charged me between $5.50 and $6.25 per shirt. I know where I'll be taking my business next time I need dry cleaning. While cleaning out my closet I found several white shirts (15) that had yellowed collars even though they had been dry cleaned at Baryames. I took them back in and was told that they had a service recently that they stopped using because of this. They told me they would soak them for me. So I was very unhappy when I picked them up and charge me!!! When I complained about it they told me there is noting they can do. I spend about $2,500 a year at this cleaners, that info is from them! I emailed my complaint to them and received no response. This is not the only incident I have had with them over the three years I have been here. Will never return! read more

Avoid or proceed with caution. They can clean and press clothes just like any other dry cleaners but I was taken for a ride with a bait & switch the other day where I was taken to the cleaners. For a button replacement on a pair of pants, a zipper pull on a light jacket and a zipper replacement on a child's trousers I was told "Oh, it'll just be a few dollars for all this, we'll have it back in two day." But when I picked up the clothes, the pants weren't ready and the cost was $45. Okay, I paid it the whole bill without complaining, even though the zipper repair wasn't ready yet. Finally go a cll that the pants were ready and was charged $5. additional costs as "it was more difficult than expected." I asked the girl if she was familiar with the concept of bait & switch which she was not. But that's exactly what took place. Advice: Avoid altogether or be hyper vigilant as Baryames doesn't play fair. read more

Are you looking for the perfect excuse to go shopping for a new dress when the one you have in your closet would do just fine? How about the opportunity to do said shopping with a thrilling sense of urgency 15 hours before you depart for a wedding on the east side of the state?! Look no further. All you have to do is bring that dress from your closet to Baryames to be "cleaned." They will promptly destroy it, pass it around their various Lansing offices, and two weeks later (note: ruining the dress takes less than 24 hours, but the decision making time, aka TIME TO GET YOUR DRESS SHOPPING GAME FACE ON takes 13 days, so plan in advance) you will get that call confirming that they are done cleaning your goods. *wink wink* They will even give you some fodder to convince yourself, your hubby, your honey, your parents, or any other financier that a new dress is NECESSARY. Heck, they'll turn the browns tan, the whites red, and use their stripping agent to fade the whole thing, and then blame it on the manufacturer. Not sure you have any dresses from those countries we (e.g., certain dry cleaning businesses) tend to think of as being "inferior" in their manufacturing abilities? Don't fret! Unless you're loaded or read every care label at every department store, you probably do! Best of all, Baryames will do this for free. Just give them your dress "cleaning" fee after they ruin your dress, wait two weeks, and they will call you back and offer you twenty bucks to cover the cleaning fee *winks again* and a few bucks to put towards your new, rushed dress selection. It's like cash for clunkers, except no need for clunkers--you can bring in a dress you've only worn once-- I did! So, take that perfectly sufficient summertime dress from your closet, bring it to Baryames, and enjoy that stress-sweat-filled, crunch time dress shopping adventure with your bud Andrew Jackson. read more
