I have used Basement Flood Protector for over 5 yrs and highly recommend! Responsive and reasonable!

I had Basement Flood Protector out to my home in the spring of 2024 for a major waterproofing job on my personal residence. The job involved a full interior drain tile system and exterior dig/waterproofing on 2 sides of my home. I waited 2 summers before writing this review because the effectiveness of their work can really only be gauged over time. This week, we had torrential amounts of downpour that went on all night. Prior to the waterproofing, my basement would have had water seeping in from the block foundation walls, back basement door, and up through the cracks in my slab. I'm happy to report that my basement stayed completely dry. Since this job was done in April 2024, I've only had 1 instance of water. I immediately called Basement Flood Protector and, because their work has a 10-year warranty on the exterior and lifetime warranty on the interior, they came out and immediately remedied the situation. No water since. This was a big job that I did a ton of upfront research on and quoted 3 other big/well-known waterproofing companies. The reason I went with Basement Flood Protectors was: 1) Sales Process: John was my contact at Basement Flood Protector. He did not put on the big sales pitch and presentation I got from 2 of the other companies. He was straight shooting and was clearly the expert in waterproofing, not just a sales person. 2) Responsiveness: Basement Flood Protector answered all my follow-up questions and concerns whereas other companies seemed to dance around some questions. As an example, when asking one of the other big competitors the cost for an exterior dig, rather than saying it's not work they do (or want to do) the sales person verbally quoted me some unrealistic/high number. Another major company completely ghosted after I called/emailed 3+ times to try and speak to someone about moving forward with the job (feel like I dodged a bullet there). 3) The price: They were notably better-priced for the work I wanted done. The folks at Basement Flood Protector have been fantastic to work with, especially Roger and John. Over the years, we used them for routine sump pump servicing on our exterior drain tile system. Always prompt, honest and fair. A few months ago, we decided to install an interior drain system with a new pump. It was a major job, having to jackhammer up part of the basement floor. I purchased a new home and realized the sump pumps needed replacing and the water was being pumped out onto the front lawn. It created a puddle issue on my walkway as well as wearing away the dirty leading to the walk from the exterior hose. I received a great quote to replace both sump pump's and install backup pumps as well as relocating the hose that expelled the water to the outside. They worked on the outside until it was perfect and moved it away from the house to prevent any further puddles and damage to the lawn or the foundation. The technicians were professional, polite, wore masks and cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend them to anyone and I would use them again if necessary in the future. read more

Minutes before walking out the door for a one-week vacation, we discovered that our sump pump had tripped the breaker and had failed. UGH! We had heard Jeff from his radio spots, so we gave them a call. WOW! They were at the house within 2 hours and replaced our sump pump in 30 minutes. The tech was fantastic, courteous and did an amazing job. Our new sump pump was in incredible. So solid, quiet and powerful. Excellent job! Replacement one old sump pump with 2 new with battery backup. I now never have to worry about our basement flooding! Technician arrived EXACTLY (to the minute) as was promised, the job was supposed to take 2 hours, but he got it done in 1 hour 45 minutes. Price was exactly as quoted, totally competitive on the price, too. Technician didn't leave any messes or 'crumbs' behind like other service companies do, which was nice. Great job! read more

I have to say I am very impressed with Basement Flood Protector! I called mid-day and they were still able to accommodate me later in the same day with no "emergency call" fee but just the normal service charge for coming out to look at my sump pump issue. Steve came out and was very professional, clean, respectful of my property, and very honest and transparent about my issue and options for resolution. They didn't come out trying to sell me on a new primary or battery backup pump unless they felt it was absolutely necessary. Unlike the 4 hour window of most plumbers, they were able to give me a 1-hour window. Roger came right on time at the start of the window, checked the old sump pump to see if it could be replaced--it couldn't, and installed a new one for me for slightly less than quoted over the phone. Highly recommended - very professional. I've used these guys twice now and am very happy. Once to install a backup sump pump and also to replace the primary sump pump. Prices are more than reasonable and there was no attempt to upsell me. It was $440 to replace the sump pump that had cost me over $800 from ABC Plumbing. My only small issue is that they have a rather complex and impersonal phone answering system that requires you to navigate about 3-4 options before leaving a message. read more

We hired Basement Flood Protectors to repair a patch installed by another company. BFP was courteous, fast and efficient. They walked us through the repair indicating why the previous patch failed. We have a new floor in our basement where the repair took place and BFP was careful not to damage the floor. BFP did a great job; will keep their number close if we need other basement repairs. John and his crew are the best contractors that I have ever worked with. Not only have they installed a number of sump pumps and back up pumps over the years, but we recently had a seepage problem in our basement. John came out and, rather than recommending costly remediation, he suggested some basic steps that I could take (such as recaulking the windows) that solved the problem! While purchasing our home, our inspector recommended Basement Flood Protector. We knew the backup pump in the new house was dead and thought the primary pump was as well. We had another company come out to provide a quote. But after talking with Basement Flood Protector on the phone and learning about their backup pumps, we decided to go with BFP. I'm glad we did. Roger came out to do an install of a new primary pump and backup pump. Immediately, he said that the primary pump was fine and it was just a valve in the pipe that was broken. Saved us $400! The other company that came onsite did not mention anything about the valve and just stated that the sump pump was malfunctioning. Would high recommend BFP. read more

We were referred to this company 10 years ago by another waterproofing company that thought we were so picky and paranoid about water that we would only be happy with Basement Flood Protector! They installed a terrific and comprehensive system and we've never had an issue. More importantly, Roger who comes to do the service and any maintenance is terrific - so reliable, honest, not pushy but very helpful. Danny has helped me a few times over the years by phone and is an amazing resource. Again, never pushy but happy to take time and help me through any questions. I can't recommend this company enough- I wish they had other house maintenance specialties so I could use them instead of our other vendors, but I guess the fact that they specialize helps make them so good. read more

Since January 2015, I was in need of replacing my sump pumps and adding a back up system in my new house. I emailed Floodnot and John Sloss wrote back. He gave me some estimates and answered all my questions. Been busy with work and life so fast forward to April and after a power outage, I really need to take action. So I contacted John again and he answered all my questions. I must emailed him about 10 times with questions and once again, he answered everyone of them in a timely fashion. He came out to the house gave me another estimate and set up a time for the technician to come out. Steve came at the time he was supposed to and did a great job of replacing two sump pumps and installing a backup battery system. The fee was very fair and the job was done professionally. Stay away..Go with a well known name for exterior waterproofing and fixing interior basement wall cracks. I had exterior waterproofing done in 2018 as well as interior crack patching. Several attempts were made to fix the exterior waterproofing. Every attempt got worse. I would rather not deal with this company. I was scared what would be messed up next. Tar slopped on brick, membrane not adhering. This year I am going with a Professional company to do the exterior waterproofing over. Keep valuables and your garage locked up. After crew was done with exterior wtrprfng, one of them says to me I hope you don't mind we found some mineral spirits in your garage and used it to clean our hands. Caulking done to wrong stoop, later corrected after I was talked down to for pointing this out. Reported this to boss and received a response something like oh he is having problems in his life you have to excuse him. NOT. Interior horizontal crack repair hardened and will be easy to peel off. Run as fast as you can away from this company for exterior and interior waterproofing. A few extra dollars paid to professionals is well worth it. read more
