I was having to take this task on solo, as my husband suffered a massive stroke and was not able to be of much help. John came out more than once to research our issues and concerns with the engineer. They were very knowledgeable, professional and patient with my questions. I was very anxious over the whole project, but they explained everything thoroughly and made recommendations based on their findings. The plans and estimate of services were detailed, drawn up, and presented efficiently. Karen in the office was extremely helpful and kind when I would call with any questions, etc. and John always returned my calls promptly and was very attentive. Ivan, Bryan, and Raul were part of the team onsite and gave me daily updates on what they were going to be working on. They did uncover a couple additional issues and presented them to us with an explanation and pricing to do the extra repairs. The entire team showed up every morning on time, were very polite and respectful of our property and hardworking. Everything was left neat and clean every day before they left. They provided the solution we contracted for with them on time. Our village inspector commented on what he saw as a "job well done", so kudos to all of you that were a part of this project at our home! I highly recommend Safeguard Waterproofing/Ram Jack of IL. They are a highly dependable company for anyone who experiences these types of problems.

Spent over $10,800 in 2020 to have interior drain tile and a landing drain connected to a new sump pump Had water enter through the doorway by the drain 3 times since 2020, with the most water coming inside September of 2022 Called Safeguard in September 2022. Safeguard refused to even check the system, sent us a quote for $1,800 more work to "fix us up" without even checking anything on our property Had a 3rd party company out to inspect the drain that Safeguard refused to check. Discovered they breached our contract and connected the drain to village stormwater tiling without our consent or the consent of the village. Discovered they did not get a final inspection with the village Have never received as much as an apology. Instead, Safeguard blamed us saying the drain was clogged with leaves, and that is why we flooded. This was disproved by Roto-Rooter. The company refused to fix anything and did not respond to requests until I submitted a formal complaint on the BBB website exposing the breach of contract Have spent months (5) trying to come to an agreement we are comfortable with in order to have them out to fix the work They do say they will repair the work for free, BUT... They tried to get us to waive their liability should the village fine us for the stormwater connection There will be NO WARRANTY of this free work. So, if the concrete starts breaking a few months after the fix, they're not liable They claim they did not connect the drain incorrectly, and they are doing this fix to appease us (even though I have my contact that clearly states what was to be done, and a signed letter from the president stating that they did in fact do something else) As a result, we asked for a simple 1 year work and materials warranty just to ease our fears about something breaking in the future. Their response- WE WILL NOT ALTER THIS CONTRACT Bob, John and Karen have been nothing but awful to work with. They are argumentative at best. The amount of times sarcasm and ALL CAPS have been used in emails by Karen, as well as the amount of times my husband has been screamed at over the phone or in person by Bob and John are immeasurable. As soon as you write them a check and they finish the work, they're done. Even if they blatantly breach your contract (like with us), or the work is faulty, they will not fix or stand by anything in my opinion. They claim they have one of the strongest warranties in the business- I assure you this is a lie. If they do work and it never breaks, consider yourself lucky, because if something goes wrong and they treat you like us, they will not help you in any way shape or form to solve the problem. Instead, they will blame you as the customer and ignore you until you become too loud to ignore. Do yourself a favor, spend a little bit more money and go somewhere else that actually backs up their work and treats their consumers well. This is not that place. RUN AWAY.

The only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is because Emi (who I was in frequent communication with) was very communicative and helpful, and Omar, who came out for the unnecessary service, was also very kind and knowledgeable. The rest of the experience was terrible. The home we purchased had previous repairs done with ULB, so we reached out to them when we got water in January due to the waterproofing allegedly being under warranty. To start, it took 17 days to receive a call back from Anthony, who was supposed to be contacting us about the leak. I was in frequent communication with Emi, who I will say seemed to be equally as frustrated as I was with the lack of response from Anthony, which I appreciated. When Anthony finally contacted me, he told me not to contact the office anymore, and to only contact him directly. When he came out, it took him a long time to find the cause of our leak. He eventually decided it was due to a crack (that had previously been repaired) and had someone come out in late February to "repair" it. Every time we had significant rain thereafter, we had water in our basement exactly the same as prior to the service. Finally, in July, we had such significant flooding that we needed to rip the carpeting out and dispose of many items. We contacted ULB and, again, it took 10 days and repeated calls for me to receive a call back. We requested someone other than Anthony come out to inspect the property since he had clearly misdiagnosed the problem, and Stoyan came to assess the situation. He came across as hostile and defensive during his visit - he identified the issue was cracks in the masonry on the exterior wall and that was what needed to be repaired. We got those cracks repaired, as was recommended by ULB, and again, the next rain we received tons of water in our basement. At this point, it had been 3 separate visits that were done with ULB telling us what the "problem" was, us repairing those "problems", and water continuing to come into our home without any improvement. We decided we could not trust their diagnostics, at which point we requested a refund. We were told that a refund would not be possible, in part due to the contract being "approved and signed" by us prior to the repairs. We trusted that they correctly diagnosed the problem, which is why we approved the services. Of course if we had the knowledge that this was incorrect, we would not have agreed to an unnecessary service; unfortunately, we are not experts in waterproofing and home leaks, which is why we contracted a service to do so in the first place. At the end of the day we spent money on a clearly unnecessary service, we were told multiple times what the "issue" was and repaired those "issues" as recommended by ULB with no change in leaking, and we will not be receiving a refund due to agreeing to the services they told us were necessary despite no changes in water damages.
