This review is for the monthly princess painting events for ages 4-8. These events have so many fun activities for the kids and turned me into an instant fan of Bash & Design. Bash & Design isn't just for kids. They have classes and events for kids and adults. There are so many cool options. For kids they offer classes like painting, drawing, fashion design and sewing (!), and mixed media. They have so many classes even beyond the obvious painting. They also offer drop off camps during summer, winter, and CCSD closure days. Not just fun, but helpful for working parents. If I lived closer I'd have my daughter in weekly classes here. The owner is very sweet and patient with the kids. My daughter likes the owner and the instructor who helps with the events. I have a lot of respect for what the owner has created with her business and highly recommend this spot to friends. The monthly princess events are SO fun for the kids. Once a semester they mix in a superhero event too. The online booking makes it easy to schedule. Each event includes starts with a painting (instructor led and assisted), face painting, balloons for playing, play time in the play area, and a snack. Sometimes some movie time if the painting goes fast. Then a princess guest arrives to lead dancing, singing, story time, take individual photos with the kids, and to give a gift (usually a craft for later). The kids get plenty of interactions with the princess. I think it's an excellent value at $65 compared to other princess events we've done in town. I'd definitely recommend Bash & Design for kids or adults interested in art classes. read more

This place is amazing! It is a locally owned business run by a mom and daughter combo, and their passion and love for what they do is so evident in their classes. I recommend this place to friends and family constantly, and I look forward to my weekly art class. There are classes for littles (as young as 4!), teens and young adults, and adults. There is something for everybody here. If you are on the fence about enrolling: GO AHEAD AND DO IT!!!! I've learned so much from the teachers and made new friends through a common love of art. As a 27-year college instructor, I can say with clarity that for me, being a beginner and taking classes here is a lot like not knowing how to swim and being thrown in the water and told you should enjoy the experience. I recently took an Acrylic & Oil Painting class and completed 2 out of the 4 classes. You don't get to pick the picture you paint. There is little to no hands-on real instruction -- you simply follow the instructor's moves via an overhead screen after the instructor makes them. (What if the steps are wrong? How do you correct them? The instructor did come by to check on our individual pictures once within the two-hour period.) The steps go by super fast and were often difficult to follow. There was rarely any attempt to slow down and ask if students were learning or needed extra attention. The owner is a fabulously talented artist, very nice, and gives it her all... but being talented at one's work doesn't mean you are gifted at teaching. I asked for a credit to take other classes that might fit me better so at least I wouldn't waste half of the $250 they charged me, but was told I couldn't take classes reserved purely for young people. How I'd be a danger taking an art class with a child if the teacher is in the room with all of us is beyond me, but ok. It also takes them a while to get back to you. I would not recommend this place if you are an adult beginner who wants hands-on instruction. I will say my expectations may have been off, as I knew each class would have varied skill levels, but having at least some autonomy about what you paint and being given slower instructions as a beginner shouldn't be too much to ask for. At minimum, they could have found a way to meet me halfway in terms of credits instead of just telling me things will get better if I stick with it. The instruction won't get better as the teacher is the same. I wish the place well -- they seem to do great with kids based on the other reviews I've read. They do give you snacks and the staff are generally friendly, but this review is for my experience as a learner. It was not a good fit.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ read more

My son has been coming here since he was 4. We sign him up for their pop up classes and especially love the summer camps they offer. The themes are fun and allows my son to choose which one he wants to participate in. He loves drawing and I am so grateful that this place exists! This was truly an amazing experience! I was surprised upon walking in that this is also an art gallery with so much beautiful and unique artwork on display and for purchase. Our art teacher was incredible and the theme for the night was "Abstract". She explained thoroughly what Abstract art was as she walked around helping each student supplying paint and brushes. Food, wine & beer were also offered on their menu! I got a charcuterie board and an amazing Grapefruit beer to pair it with which was all delicious. I really can't wait to go back and make this a regular night out with friends. If you haven't been here I suggest doing an art class here or simply stopping in to admire their art gallery. OK!!! I was skeptical at first that this place was another lame wine and paint basic class.... IT IS SO MUCH MORE!!! I took the abstract class and the experience was incredible.. The artist teaching the class walks you through the experience and actual education of how to paint. This is not just a paint class, but they have A LOT of other options. You can learn to paint over several weeks and create something beautiful for your home that you want to actually hang up. It was fun and very therapeutic. They have a great selection of wines and bites too.. Make sure you check out the very cool bathrooms (I know who thinks of that? They do!). This was our first wine & paint class ever and it really exceeded our expectations! Our group of 10 were celebrating a birthday and passing an important exam. We made a reservation with no issues and Ekat & Jay made all the planning so easy for us! They even asked us what kind of music we wanted, what we wanted to paint, and greeted us with some cute decorations. Masha, the instructor, made the experience fun yet challenging and we all were impressed by how great our paintings turned out. There was plenty of space to be spread out yet follow along with the painting. We even had a chance to dance to the "Cupid Shuffle" during a little break!! The charcuterie board IS A MUST. I came here as a date night for the Valentine's Day class and it was an absolute wonderful and stunning experience! The owners are very friendly, the instructors are kind and patient, the wine and charcuterie board were delicious. And not to mention our painting came out amazing, which I honestly didn't think it would come out as good considering all the details that went into it, but the constant attention and patience from the instructors, we were impressed. This is not your typical "paint nite." It's much more than that with an added gallery right next door with portraits that are one of kind filled with so much delicacy, creativity, and fun. The best part about it is that people can make similar projects for their home and purchase a frame to give it that perfect added touch to your home decor.
