    Chicken Pot Pie

This place is a hidden little gem of deliciousness!! The chicken is amazing but you absolutely have to try the chicken pot pie. Literally the best pot pie I have ever had!!!

Just walked in from Cahoots and grabbed a BBQ chicken wrap...delicious.....Basil's is always good..first time at this location

Ribs are so incredibly overpriced. Spoon for scale. This is maybe 6 oz of ribs for $18. I paid $3 an ounce for these ribs. Rip off.

Bizarrely tiny portion. There's no pig on earth with ribs this small. Pretty disappointing. Literally a few spoonfuls for around $15...

We have been eating at Basil's ever since they opened. And I was going there even before - I was the acting Fire Marshal and did their Certificate of Occupancy! This is just plain good food - and it has been the same from day one. Gus and Nick make the place not only a place with good food, but also a friendly place where you get to enjoy eating there. In September (?) they sold the place they've been in for 20+ years and moved down to the plaza on the south side of Manatee Avenue immediately west of Burger King. The new place is even nicer than the old. It is brighter - both in lighting and furnishing - and the counter is a fresh new look, too. We really like the new look. As for the food - it tastes the same, if not even better! We both had chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, while I had the beans and my wife a salad. It was so tender and tasty - just like before! There are other options beside chikcen, and I have been known to have gyros and my wife a chicken salad on pita - but generally I come for the chicken. The only thing missing from the old location is the drive through. My wife feels bad about that because she would often go there and get a chicken salad through the drive in when I am working out of town - but now she'll have to take advantage of the two spaces directly in front of the door for the carry out business. All in all we highly recommend Basil's - always have, always will!

Healthy, fast, reasonably priced and the owner seems to live at the restaurant. Respect for the work ethic I see at Basil's!

Same smell we know locally. My wife told me that she witnessed the manager spraying something near the other bar patrons behind me as he went toward the kitchen. She knew I would be so upset about it that she did not point it out at the time. I just curled my nose and thought about another seat or to vacate the premise. It dissipates quickly so we tried to be forgiving. The tab was inflated by a drink never ordered and they charge extra for Tajin on the rim of your margarita without notice or justification. So we needed the owner to approve the corrections of the bill. We were told that it became a "flavored" margarita when Tajin is added to the rim in place of salt or no salt. Then we got the "costs are up" story that we have not heard before while ordering my margaritas anywhere else. The waitress did manage to get in a few "I don't make the rules, I just work here" clip that we read here in other reviews. So my wife was pissed and our return visits are now very unlikely. I am not happy either but was looking forward to coming back for liver and onions with our stepfather very soon. Doubtful now. Poop stench in the face, spraying chemicals in the dining room during service and nickel and dime issues make it hard to justify taking our family back here. That is what disappointed me the most. I know this place had a real chance with us at first. Probably not now. ‍

We sat at a high top in the bar area which was very inviting with a lot of classic wooden bar vibes. We had an engaging and attentive server and the bartender served up a great mojito for me. We ordered the lobster escargot appetizer which was really good. This is one of our favorite apps that are "go tos" at 2 of our favorite places. This one is going on that list as well. My husband had the brick house side salad- what's not to like? Great song, great side salad with good mix of ingredients. I had shepherds pie for my entree and hubby had the seafood gumbo. The shepherds pie was so tasty, not saucy at all, yet very umami forward. Just yum! I can't speak to the gumbo only to say that my husband liked it and said that it was made with very high quality ingredients and was also very tasty. We will definitely be back. There are several things we'd like to try next time... Overall very pleased we tried O'Bricks.

I had the grouper with mashed potatoes and green beans and it was amazing! The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly, very firm.. flavorful.. and flaky. Their wine selection was VERY good... a wide variety to select from: California, Argentina, France, Germany, Italy - I was very impressed. Staff were all very nice and welcoming which also helped with the experience. Parking is a little tricky.. we did street parking - I am not sure if there are parking garages/lots nearby.. but we went with metered street parking. Would I go back? Yes, for sure!
