I'll start with the food. Had the surf and turf and it was good, not great but it was good enough for my standards. Steak was cooked exactly as requested, decent flavor. The seafood accompaniment was adequate and filling. Also had a side house salad, which seemed fresh and also very nice. Good wine selection and I can't complain about the beer that I ordered. If you're comparing to a top ranked seafood restaurant in Miami or Tampa, look elsewhere. The prices were fair and I would probably go back there if I were in town again. The only weird part was the service. It was great for the first 45 minutes and then the waitress just literally disappeared. Mike was gone for 20 minutes until we finally had to ask another waiter for our check. They probably could've gotten me for a few more drinks if they had tried. I placed a reservation for a party of five on open table. We were one of three parties at the establishment. Our waitress was unfriendly, inattentive and didn't seem to want to be there. Upon asking questions regarding the menu, she did not provide answers and was frustrated when one of our party members was not sure what wellness level they would like their fish cooked to, as they had never been offered an option at previous restaurants. No smile, no how are you doing, just frustrated and in a hurry to get it over with. The food was nothing special. High price, low quality. Bridge street bistro is a staple when we come to Anna Maria island. This time around they had a different Spanish style menu. It looked fine. We got the deviled eggs, octopus, and then I got the snapper. The octopus was the star and had a lot of flavor. The deviled eggs were just alright and the snapper was great. Attended a birthday dinner party on a Friday night. Parking is very tough to find & $$$. We paid $10 an hour to park a little further away & the parking right next to it was $16 an hour! You need to take an elevator or stairs to get to the restaurant which is very nice once you are in there & the beach views & sunset are fantastic. Menu is very limited & very pricey. The martini prices were good - $10. They make a delicious espresso martini! I ordered the strawberry salad with chicken & they give you a lot of chicken. It was good but the salad was heavily dressed. Others in the group got fish which looked fantastic as it should be for $45! Others kept it light like me with salads. Two people tried the pasta - they thought it was just OK & one persons pasta came out lukewarm. Our waiter was great with our large table & very patient. If this meal had been the same price as the others, it would be fine, but we paid a lot for just okay food. I ordered the surf & turf ($48) and my daughter ordered the espresso-rubbed steak ($46). We both ordered them medium, and they were both well done. The Brussels sprouts were great. The risotto was bland, even after adding a lot of extra salt & pepper. The blackberry martini was fantastic, as was the service. But if you're charging that much for a steak, it should be at least close to cooked properly. Won't be returning to this one. Came to this restaurant on Christmas Day while on vacation. We made reservations as there was not much available Christmas Day. They seemed to have lost our booking and had us go between the second and third floor a couple times to see where they could fit us in. Managed to eventually seat us. The two waitresses on the upper floor were inept and although our waitress only seemed to have 2-3 tables, she could not have been worse as far as checking in on us/refilling drinks/getting food order/getting us the bill so we could get the hell outta there. The whole place smelled like dirty bar drain backup. I've done maintenance on restaurants in the past and that is the exact smell. Food was just ok, if you could get past the smell. This is one of the few instances where I still tipped the waitress over 25% despite her crap service just because i felt bad she had to work Christmas. read more

The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of the building with an outdoor patio (and indoor dining room as well). The ambiance is nice. The service was good. The food was terrible (sorry for being brutally honest). I got a filet that was ordered medium rare and served WELL done. Quality of the meat was sub-par. My husband switched his filet with me (which was slightly less done) and it was lacking in taste and quality. Teen had the blackened grouper and liked it. Drinks were good. Menu was not huge, but big enough to find something for everyone. They do take reservations which is nice. read more

The businesses on AMI suffered a lot of loss last fall. I'm sure it is tough hiring and retaining employees. It is important to give the restaurants our business. The good is that the Bistro is open and inviting to us to view the beautiful sunset while enjoying our meals. The not so good is that the service was slow and the food came to our table cold. I'm sure this has to do with the landlord - the elevator is in rough shape and the stairway was not accessible. There may be another staircase but did not see one. The building is dirty. My third time back here. First time was with Peggy's cousin and we went out on the deck had an awesome time. Second time my better have to decide not to join me and said bring something back good. Which I did grand slam home run This time we were out for a walk downtown. We wandered over here and I took her up for a view. The staff was handling a guest as we came in and did an excellent job. We were too early to seat at 5 o'clock when they started seating, had no reservation, and they set one for 5 o'clock . Oh well was me, we had a wait at the bar. I was heartbroken. The bartender served up a Mount Gay so much for being heartbroken. My girlfriend Peggy just rolled her eyes again. So I was looking at where we were going to be setting and it was very quiet out there unlike the bar there was a couple customers that were very loud I got on my knees and pleaded for mercy to be seated outside now before the 5 o'clock witching hour. The hostess was very gracious and understood the problem at the bar. She moved us outside. Peggy with her iced tea and me with Mount Gay Rum. Perfect a great ocean view. We had our beverages. I had this awesome looking woman sitting across from me. What more could a fella want? 5 o'clock showed up soon enough. My drink was half gone. I was thinking about the walk home should I enjoy another one of their beverages? I'll defer that answer for now. So 5 o'clock came and so did our waitress. She took an order for the fried cauliflower. It's awesome! Peggy said she doesn't know how we're going to eat our entrée? I said no problem will take it home with us the cauliflower that is although I just noticed she's sneaking more bites instead of saving it for the take-home. I had to shake my finger at her. She stuck her tongue out at me. I'm gonna quit now while I'm ahead. I did enjoy the seafood mac & cheese. And would get it again. We took home a piece of Keylime pie. Should've got two pieces it was that good. We're coming to the end of our travels here on Ana Maria Island. It will probably be a year before we get back again. Lots of great places to go. Let me start with our theory about dining establishments. Some may have great food. Some may have great ambience. Rarely do both do together in the same restaurant. Bridge Street Bistro has a third floor outside deck with a view of the Gulf which allows for an amazing sunset view when sun and clouds cooperate. The food is very good, but not outstanding, although the other evening we shared the Swordfish (grassy key style) and it was amazing. Too many places ruin swordfish by overcooking it, but the chef here was on the ball. One of our dining companions had the fish and chips and was quite pleased with the offering. We had the Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert, but it lacked the molten lava core that we've come to expect at other restaurants. read more

So bad. So sad. I just really hate to say this. The restaurant is on the third floor of the building, ambience was nothing spectacular and weird bathrooms. Pro: seated promptly, drink order taken. Cons: drink order took a long time to arrive, they ran out of bread, but didn't tell us until after we asked the hostess because the server was hard to find and not engaged. Food was so bad it made me question if they truly had an Executive Chef as listed on the menu or if they just have a kitchen staff. Prices and quality of food did not in any way meet expectations of what we'd been accustomed to on the island. Two of us ordered the Tile Fish and upon delivery it was so shriveled and dried up the waiter mumbled he'd bring some better fish out. No flavor. Just blah. We were so hungry after waiting an hour for our food we started eating and just trying to finish the night when he brought out two small plates of nice looking fish about 20 minutes later. Much better than the first, but we were done. The manager did approach us and comp'd two drinks for the Tile Fish and apologized for the "size" of the fish. I advised manager it was just not the "size" of the fish. She was gracious and pleasant, but I definitely cannot recommend. Bridge street bistro was a pretty good spot to check out if you want to eat down bridge street! We had booked a reservation for 3rd floor gulf view think by we'd be outside but that wasn't the case so I guess specify where you'd like to sit. We enjoyed our meal which included the shrimp cocktail, key lime style grouper, and surf n turf. The dishes were excellent. We did wish the shrimp cocktail came with more than 4 pieces but still it was delicious. Everyone was so nice to us and accommodating. Our drinks took some time for a Prosecco and beer in can which was one downfall. We also wished there were some more cocktails on the menu that were more liquor and actual cocktail versus sour syrup and mixed drink. We would deff come back to enjoy! We made reservations online on a Monday for the same evening. Upon arrival, we were given the option of indoor or outdoor seating. It was a beautiful evening and gorgeous view from the third floor location. We ordered a couple cocktails to start - dirty vodka martini for me and a Manhattan for my husband. We started with the wedge salad - definitely enough to share. We told our server we were sharing and little surprised it was just an extra plate and not split for us, but not a big deal. Our server mentioned several times he would be back with bread and finally came back and said someone else got the last basket of warm bread and it would be a few more minutes. No worries, as fresh, warm bread would be great with the dressing and balsamic drizzle with the salad. When it finally did arrive, the plain bread rolls were just room temp! We noticed it was talking quite some time for our entrees after finishing our salad. It wasn't a busy evening and a table of 6 that ordered after us were already served and almost finished with their entrees. Finally, our server Michael, stopped back and very apologetically told us it wasn't his night. After a long story about how he wasn't even supposed to work tonight, he said he forgot to put in our entrees. He said he put a rush on it and covered a round of drinks for us. Fortunately, once the food arrived, it was fantastic! The grouper, simply prepared, was perfect and the option of risotto instead of mashed potatoes was a nice change of pace. The broccolini was so good, just wish a larger portion of veg was provided! My husband's seafood pasta was perfectly prepared - hard to do with multiple types of fish and seafood and it was topped with a half lobster tail. Great evening out with the family. It's on the third floor and not easy to find. There's an elevator to take you there if the steps are too much. Great views from their patio but unfortunately they decided to close it for the night because of in climate weather coming in. The service was just okay not very friendly but they got the job done. The calamari appetizer was fantastically battered that even my son liked it. My entree was massive but they got the order a little off which they immediately fixed. The grouper had an ammonia taste but the mashed potatoes and vegetables were excellent. The drink I ordered was strong and tasty! We've been coming to Bradenton beach/ Longboat key for over 25 years. We haven't been to Bridge Street Bistro for several years but we will be back again - SOON. The key is to eat outside with a view of the sunset. Everything was delicious and the staff was very friendly. My wife and I shared the Ahi tuna appetizer and a blue cheese wedge salad. For dinner, I had ordered the short rib but they were out so I got my second choice - crab meat stuffed shrimp with risotto. Only complaint: the meal it could have been hotter. My wife's drink came about 10 minutes after mine and the place was not very busy. Our food came out just after our appetizer so the timing wasn't great. The inside of this restaurant is so very charming. Old Hollywood stars everywhere (Marilyn is my fav) and old school music. A beautiful view looking at the beach and water. The menu I think could have been a bit more unique, maybe offering more signature items. I had fairly basic selections for my dinner so I don't know that I can give an accurate review of the food quality. I had the wedge salad (romaine wedge) and the ahi tuna appetizer. I wished the tuna was a bit more rare and it was also over seasoned in my opinion on the edges. Our server forgot to put in our calamari appetizer and we got our entrees pretty quickly. They brought the calamari out after we finished dinner. I wish they would have just asked if we still wanted it. They did take that off our bill. Also only 3 very basic dessert offerings for what is seemingly a nicer restaurant in the area. Again, would have liked to have more options other than your basic key lime pie, cheesecake, chocolate cake. We opted to stop and get ice cream on the way home. 5 stars for ambience and location for the view, 3 stars for menu selection and food. read more

The Mahi Mahi with the $7 up charge to add the asparagus and shrimp was definitely not worth it. The steak had very good flavor and was cooked well, but the lobster was the worst I've ever had. The guy parking cars is good. I have been going to happy hour there for years. I asked the bartender to make a reservation for me for Valentine's Day a couple weeks ago. He said no problem. But when I was leaving he said is ok for a high top or outside. I said ok. A high top will be ok. We arrive ahead of time at 4:15 for a 5:00 reservation.. Twenty minutes later they start seating people, but not us. I asked to be seated three times. Finally I tell her "I was told that we might have to sit at a high top". She says oh! I thought you were supposed to be outside. We will get you seated at a high top. Thank you for explaining that to me.. Finally we seat ourselves at a high top. I figure is supposed to be the one. We're finally seated at a high top and waiting, waiting, no menus. I finally turn around and say, can I have a menu. I get one, the server bring comes over a minute later and asks if we're ready to order. The pictures were taken at 5:45. But there were tables still open when we left. Prices are as expected. The bartenders are good. The mixed drinks are very good. They have a good happy hour. They have very good appetizers. We ordered the tails and braised ribs. The food is delicious. We ate at Bridge Street Bistro on a Friday night for dinner. In short, the food was meh, the service was poor, and the ambiance was not comfortable for me. Food: Our family of six ordered three appetizers for the six of us to share. The Ahi Tuna was very, very good (Our server said that the tuna would be raw, but it was actually seared). The Calamari and Bang Bang Cauliflower were both very sweet, and not to our liking. In terms of entrees, I felt that the menu was uninspired and nothing really jumped out at me. I ended up ordering the wedge salad with shrimp and a bowl of lobster bisque. The salad was good, and the shrimp were very tasty! The lobster bisque was extremely salty, and both of us who ordered it sent it back after a few bites because we didn't enjoy it at all. Service: Our server was Jennifer, and we were not very pleased with the service. She took our appetizers off of the table when there was still food on the plates without asking if we were finished, which we weren't. Our table ended up stacking up used appetizer plates because no one had cleared our appetizer plates by the time our entrees had come and because our server brought out all of the food at once, even though four of us had ordered soup and salad as well as an entree. Before we were finished eating, our server had brought the check and did not ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee. It made us feel that we were being rushed out of the restaurant, even though there were no parties waiting to be seated.
