(This is an experience with one of the staff at RMA, thank you Mason)…read more I Highly recommend RMA!! I took my 12 year old fly fishing for his first time and saw a guy catching fish down the shore from us, I told my son to go ask him what he was using but he was too shy. So I went and asked him and told him it was my son's first time and he beamed up with excitement "oh I'm gonna hook him up!" He grabbed his tackle and walked over to my son, showed him a bunch of flys and started tying them on his line. Throughout the entire process he explained every little detail!! From the fly's, to the cast, to the water current, what to look for, and about 3-5 casts in my son had bites. He taught him how to set a hook and boom, FISH ON! My son was so pumped to catch his first fish on a fly rod. He soaked up all the info he was given and was able to catch fish on his own. Mason from RMA, I can't thank you enough for hooking up my son and getting us on fish. BTW Mason was also teaching his mom and she caught her first fish too. He took the time out of his day to help out a 12 year old and by doing so he created a new angler. Well done Mason and RMA, thank you! Naturally after my son started catching fish he said "We have to go check out their shop" and of course we did. Had to stock up on flys and check out all of their gear there.

I had heard about Scheels for years but never stepped inside one. A friend of mine from Minnesota…read moreused to drive past the huge Scheels billboards whenever I visited, and for some reason I assumed it was more of a farm supply type place where people bought machinery and work clothes. Because of that completely wrong assumption, I never bothered to go in. Fast forward a few years and after reading the reviews here in Colorado I finally decided I had to see it for myself. Yesterday, March 6th, the weather was miserable. Cold, windy, light snow and rain. Not the kind of day you want to be outside, let alone skiing. So I figured it was the perfect day to finally give Scheels a try. I ended up spending five hours in the store and taking more than 250 photos, and this place absolutely blew my mind. There were sports and equipment sections I didn't even know existed. The store truly has everything you could possibly need and then some. What impressed me most was the staff. They were knowledgeable and helpful but didn't hover every five seconds like some stores do, which allowed me to really explore and absorb everything. The shoe selection was outstanding with every kind of running shoe, ski boot, work boot and outdoor footwear you could imagine, and the shoe staff were clearly well trained helping customers. I also spent about 45 minutes in the luggage section, which was surprisingly impressive. It's clearly a curated department run by someone who truly understands travel. I spoke with a luggage specialist who I believe is from Asia and a serious world traveler herself. She was incredibly knowledgeable and immediately understood what I meant when I told her I was tired of hard-sided luggage and wanted something built for an active lifestyle. She introduced me to a beautiful 100-liter Patagonia rolling duffel with durable wheels, strong zippers, and soft-sided construction that can actually handle real travel. These types of bags come with lifetime guarantees on the wheels and zippers, and now I'm officially saving my pennies to buy one. The store itself was alive and buzzing with families, couples, hunters, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The only section that felt a little thin was the women's golf apparel where most of the XS sizes were gone, while the men's golf section was very well stocked. Parking was plentiful and easy. Scheels isn't just a sporting goods store. It's an experience.

Colorado gifts, Denver broncos, nuggets, and avalanche collectibles. Hunting, fishing, guns, ammo, knives, barbecue supplies, a sportsman's dream come true. I was blown away by the customer service, kindness, and kindness professionalism of these owner-operators. I just wish it were a little closer to my house.

We signed up with Blue Quill for a day out in Chessman Canyon to hike and learn the basics of fly fishing. It was like all the reviews here say an amazing experience and we all agree we would do it again--kinda hooked on it however, what we want everyone to know is the professionalism of the people who are your guides. Mid-morning across the river we could see that a family was in trouble. Our guides--Chris and Cam--sprinted across the river to provide assistance. A angler was having a diabetic episode. They sprinted back to grab food supplies, check in with us and then back. There's a lot more to this story, a lot more, but the point we want everyone to know is this: when you are out of reach for the day in a situation that could take a turn for the worst you have to trust your guides. We could not have been in better hands than with the entire staff at Blue Quill.
