We have used ice box for years. I often drive up from Denver to buy my equipment just to support local business and because we value having this resource in the valley. With that said the last few times we've been there the experience has been very unpleasant. It's always the same guy. It's like it is a profound annoyance that we are in the shop and he is doing us a great favor by curtly answering our questions. I'm rethinking our loyalty. We've always had great experiences with the owner and other employees but I have no interest in crossing paths with this guy again. read more

The plastic parts on my tele bindings started to deteriorate. They carefully inspected all the parts and replaced everything that was falling apart. Reasonable cost and had my skis back the next day. They are knowledgeable, thorough, and nice folks! I highly recommend them! read more

I wasn't going to leave a review, but this situation was too harrowing not to. We went to icebox as a recommendation from the Nordic Track. We called beforehand to see if they had equipment available, and we were told they had just received a new shipment and could get us in some skis the same day, but they closed at 5. We arrived around 3:30. My friends went inside to see if we could get the skis, and I was in the car putting on my ski suit. One of my friends came out upset and said the man inside was rude and told them that if they "mess up his skis," it's going to piss him off. I worked in customer service when I was younger, so it was odd to hear a store owner say that to a potential customer. So I went inside. As soon as I walked inside, the owner was incredibly rude. I told him I called earlier, and he said well, I understand that, but I don't have any equipment you can use. When I told him the girl on the phone told us new equipment had come in, he said we were pissing him off. At this point, I didn't want to ski because I felt we weren't welcome in the store. However, it was my friend's birthday, so I decided to look past his behavior. He then asks me my size goes in the back, and hands us shoes to try on. The whole time he's extremely short and harsh to the point he even admitted that he was "Not trying to be rude, but he doesn't think we know what we're talking about." Again we told him we just wanted skis to take to the Nordic track, and we weren't asking for ski lessons or anything from him. At this point, it's getting well past four as he's given us a hard time the whole time we were there. He then started complaining that we won't be back by five and that it was a $30 fee to rent (which I already knew because I had called earlier in the day). It was evident that he didn't want to rent to us, especially since there were three other customers in the store that day, and they were being waited on with none of the attitudes we received. By the end, we were arguing with each other in the store before we left based on how he treated us, and we decided to leave the skis and work with someone else. He even laughed it off and said, "maybe you can tell people back home about the asshole ski seller that gave you a hard time." This was our first time in Colorado, and I wondered if this owner wasn't used to people that looked like us or if this is just how everyone acts, but I would never recommend this shop to anyone based on how horrible he treated us. read more

This is a great store to rent your nordic ski's from if visiting Fraser. I recently rented boots from them so I could try my friends back country ski's out. The staff here is so friendly and knowledgeable. They gave me information about the types and brands of ski's. I found my friend's ski's online at a closeout sale since they were last year's model. Once my new ski's arrived I went back to Icebox for boots and bindings. The staff was great at helping me choose new boots and they even got my new skis mounted with bindings the very next day. How is that for service? If you are visiting or on vacation you should go to Icebox for your Nordic ski rentals or snowshoe rentals. If you love cross country skiing like I do- they can help you find the right skis, boots and bindings to get out on the beautiful trails. Make sure you understand full day vs 24 hrs. I rented a full day at 11:30am and they made me bring it back before close. Most companies in the area rent for 24 hrs. I would not have rented from them if I would have known. read more

My 12 year old and I rented bikes from here. They rent for 24 hours, which makes it great for riding a later evening and early next morning trails. They fit the bikes to our body size, gave us a map and tips to where we should spend our time. The trails were perfect for what we wanted to ride.
