I am interested in some of the crystal candy, I do not always know where to get these products. The person working here did seem friendly. She did not talk to me, but she was engaging kindly with another customer having a lively pop culture conversation about a show. On the other hand this place is extremely overpriced if you know where to get your hot trendy products. For instance, they had the mango pealing candy for $4 or $5. I found the same product for $1.99 at Walgreen's. They have the carbonara noodles, which you can find for a lot cheaper. The other suspicious items you find here are the bootleg plush toys. I am not sure how stores like this or kiosks at the mall get away with selling bootleg toys, but the Hazbin hotel plushies are not original or necessarily licensed. Since I do buy the kids Vizipop merch, I always go to the official website. These items tags stated things like hotel pig and hotel spider. I also found them on Amazon that stated they were "inspired" by the show Hazbin Hotel. The official website is how the artist makes money, so I am not sure how the law works with the copies. I would go back to the store and the kids would like it too but I will try to only purchase official and licensed merch.

Cons: Their prices can be very high, and honestly most of their employees that run the cash registers are grumpy or rude. I've never had friendly service from the women cashing out customers. They also had Proven Winners in larger pots for annuals at $7.00. even had a few good sell items. But the selection of light weight pots were almost none. The others were high priced. They have lots of tempting items for the garden and walls but they were much higher than a few years ago. You can blame tariffs but it could be adding to the profit margin more since some are doing that. Not much service and if you pay with a card, extra is charged. I do like supporting local businesses and it is nice to have a smaller footprint garden center but I am glad I was only buying for an apartment balcony.

Overall, it was an excellent event and Douglas clearly knows what he is talking about from his 40+ years of experience! The inside of the building has items from various garden related vendors (except for one - I will get to that one in a minute): fairy garden items, bird houses, yard decorations, etc. They also have food items from several Amish bakeries and oh my, the hand pies are excellent! Thankfully for my waistline I only had a bite of my husband's apple hand pie after we left or I would have gone back in and one of every flavor. Where Salem Gardens stands out is their dedication to plants that are unique. Yes, you will find marigolds (standard for all gardens for pest control) but they have an amazing assortment of other plants that are truly different. If you are trying to perfect your gardening and need the best quality dirt, this is your spot. If you want the best Amish treats, freshly delivered every Friday, you have to stop by. They have the best popcorn, breads, and cookies. The owners, a 40+ year landscaper and his wife, put decades of knowing and care into this shop. They built it by hand, and crafted it to be an incredible community space. They host fun community events like glass cutting and fairy basket making classes. The prices are incredibly reasonable. This is about a 45 minute drive from me but I know I'll be back!!! A well worth visit

They have an eclectic yet charming selection of Knick knacks, keepsakes, and tchotchkes to accompany their main business of personalized invitations, thank you's, and other stationary. I was greeted pleasantly as soon I walked in the door and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. The store was clean and well organized with plenty of room to move and look about. I overheard a customer in their rear-most space which is where they go over their personalized stationary. They are very thorough in going over how the customer wanted their particular piece to look. They specialize in special print jobs, including invitations, but also personal monogramming of stationery. I really liked the selection of unique stationery and paper goods there. A friend who was shopping with me was taken with the assortment of magnets with interesting quotes on them and bought a couple during our visit. I also appreciated that they had gift cards that were printed with soy ink on recycled paper. They had several other gift items made with eco-friendly materials.
