I came here for a Yelp event where the owner, Douglas, gave us a presentation on "happy soil" and answered our burning questions on improving our gardening. Overall, it was an excellent event and Douglas clearly knows what he is talking about from his 40+ years of experience! The inside of the building has items from various garden related vendors (except for one - I will get to that one in a minute): fairy garden items, bird houses, yard decorations, etc. They also have food items from several Amish bakeries and oh my, the hand pies are excellent! Thankfully for my waistline I only had a bite of my husband's apple hand pie after we left or I would have gone back in and one of every flavor. Where Salem Gardens stands out is their dedication to plants that are unique. Yes, you will find marigolds (standard for all gardens for pest control) but they have an amazing assortment of other plants that are truly different. What an amazing hidden gem... this place is filled with character... if you're building a fairy garden, this is your new go-to place. If you are trying to perfect your gardening and need the best quality dirt, this is your spot. If you want the best Amish treats, freshly delivered every Friday, you have to stop by. They have the best popcorn, breads, and cookies. The owners, a 40+ year landscaper and his wife, put decades of knowing and care into this shop. They built it by hand, and crafted it to be an incredible community space. They host fun community events like glass cutting and fairy basket making classes. The prices are incredibly reasonable. This is about a 45 minute drive from me but I know I'll be back!!! A well worth visit read more

Sweeeet is the word of the day!!! Stop in here for some amazing sweet corn and cantaloupe. I bought one of the biggest cantaloupes I have ever seen here and have been eating it for a week. It is one of the sweetest I have ever eaten. Same goes with the sweet corn. They also sell a large assortment of locally crafted items in the store and oh yea, lots of great plants and trees for your yard. I even bought a strawberry cream fry pie. This was packed with filling and amazing as well. Definitely more here than I ever would have thought. read more

Run by Knowledgeable landscaper and specialist in soil health that also has a collection of local vendors and brings in Amish sweet treats from up north. Decent variety of annuals and perennials at good prices. They also have some unique planters and garden objects. read more

Came here for Yelp Elite event and had a lot of fun. Loved being able to browse all the vendor displays inside the shop and walk around the grounds. Owner and all the employees were extremely friendly and I learned a lot! You can tell he was passionate about what he did and even more cool was he and some of the other employees constructed the building themselves. Truly a labor of love. Will most definitely be back! read more

I was driving by here with one weekend in late November and saw all the Christmas trees and garlands and stuff out and had to stop by! Upon arrival we were greeted by an employee who filled us in that they were still in the process of opening and the interior of the shop was still under construction but they did have outdoor items like trees, garland, wreaths as well as a few tables of some light holiday decor and some Amish baked goods set up alongside the building under the eaves available for purchase. I wasn't in the market for a tree but I had been toying with the idea of doing the tension rod garland thing in our dining room so I decided to investigate those offerings. They had a number of different greenery options and several standard lengths which were either too short or too long for what I was looking for. However, they let me know they'd happily cut any option I'd like down to size. SOLD! In the end I chose a mix of a few different greenery pieces bundled together and they cut and secured it for me for easy transportation (my car smelled AMAZING btw). The rod I had gotten was a bit finicky so I had some trouble getting it set up but the garland itself hung in their perfectly, shedding only a few needles even though I manhandled the poor thing trying to secure it to the doorframe. Once I got it up I strung a garland of vintage lead glass ornaments from it and tucked in some faux berries and glittery things sticks, and wove in some some twinkle lights and it was gorgeous! It made me so happy every time I looked at it. It also lasted beautifully through the whole season barely dropping any needles and stayed lush looking for almost a month. Since that visit I've keep an eye on their socials and saw that they seem to be gearing up towards a spring opening. I can't wait to see what their garden offerings may be and how they utilize the building. The space is huge so I'm excited to see what they do with it. Oh, the owner's dog hangs out on premises and is the sweetest black lab that came over often to say hi and get pats. 5 stars for the biz but also 5 stars for the goodest of good boys! read more

Besides being a vendor here, I am a customer also. They have everything 'garden' and so many cool gifts too. A great selection of hanging baskets, and plants, vegetable plants in the greenhouse, trees, and planters, AND also they pick up fresh Amish baked goods every Friday! I am one of his best customers in the bake shop for sure.. handheld 'fry pies' are absolutely delicious with many flavors, also cakes, cookies, chocolates, jams, honey, breads. Excellent maple syrups .... and a lot more ! ! ! The owners are super nice and know their stuff. Give em' a try you won't be disappointed! read more

They installed a tulip tree in our front yard a year ago. We recently removed the stakes. It is rooted and standing strong. They did a great job! I highly recommend them. read more
