Came in today after a long day of shopping and enjoyed a banana royal with mint chocolate chip. This location of Baskin-Robbin's was clean and bright. The service was quick and friendly. The banana royal was loaded with bananas and hot fudge. The prices were considerably higher than last time (and compared to other ice cream places in town), but I don't mind completely as I do prefer their ice cream to other companies. I usually only come to baskin robbins when I have a free birthday scoop. I don't like paying nearly $5 for one scoop of ice cream. My mom wanted a specific flavor so we came. All the employees were friendly, the store was very clean, and this one has a drive-thru; I've never seen that before. The man who helped us was nice and patient. My favorite part was when the screen asked us to leave a tip, he reached over and clicked skip/no tip, vs every other place where the employees say something along the lines of "the machine is going to ask you a question", as if they don't know what question will be asked. The young female employee was very rude. Couldn't understand English. I asked for a name on the birthday cake and she took a very old and dirty frosting cake writer out THAT WAS AN OLD STIFF FROSTING CAKE PACK LEFT UNDER THE COUNTER. NOT IN THE FRIDGE. Gayle and I were here after coming back from a Reno Aces game last Friday night. Stopped into this Baskin Robbins location the other day for a couple of scoops. The ice cream is good. It's the Baskin Robbins standard, however you can also just get some pints from the grocery store for way less. This location does have a drive through but from what I can tell they up-charge you simply for going through the drive through. So make sure you go in at this location. The service here usually isn't great no matter whether you go in or drive through. Employees are often rude and inattentive or on their phone. There is a few tables inside to eat if you wanted to. The gentleman at the counter spent the entire time making my Sunday while talking on the phone. He kept switching hands which is entirely unsanitary while touching his cell phone, which is probably the most disgusting item that anybody owns. He did not speak. Good English. My Sunday was made so poorly. I got three scoops of ice cream with peanut butter in the bottom of the cup and a very small touch of whipped cream on top. It was not what I would call Sunday. We went to check out the flavour of the month (turned out to be USS Butterscotch) but since I don't like butterscotch, I quickly changed my mind. Moose Tracks is my favorite ice cream; Unfortunately for me, they don't carry it. I settled for a scoop of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Very Berry Strawberry. The pbc was average and not a strong representation of true peanut butter cups. Then came a recurring suggestion of rum in the background. Salvaged! Another silent triumph from the folks at BR! The VB strawberry was a tad less exciting but went down fast and smooth, just the same. Our friends did something smart. They started to get two scoops, but for a little bit more money they figured a pre-packed quart was a better deal. They they got a single scoop of the icing on top and it was reported to be delicious. Good sized amount of ice cream and even though no one asked for a lid, the server was happy to apply one. I have been here about 10 times since 2011 or so. They are located in Southgate Plaza, in the same building as Wingstop, Subway, Asian Nails, and Cricket Wireless. The building is just south of McDonald's and across the street from Courtyard by Marriott. You can see them from South Carson Street. There is never a long line here; it's Carson City after all. The employees, who have always been young, have always been nice to me, giving me a sample if needed. I usually get a scoop of ice cream in a cup. Their pralines and cream flavor is to die for! They also have single (so gender-neutral) men's and women's restrooms. Most Baskin-Robbins do not have these. And they feature a drive-thru too, which also is rare. The unicorn cake on the website, is absolutely adorable! What they don't tell you is the one that is pictured feeds 6 to 8 people, and is a two layer cake. When you order the larger size to feed 8 to 10 people, They fail to tell you that it is no longer a 2 layer cake but a single layer cake. Therefore.... the unicorn becomes flattened out and what I think, unattractive. The Franchise owner of Carson City, basically said sorry you ordered the wrong cake. And that was it!
