So we get into the store and there's a big employee get together in the front of the store to just lollygag and look at the weather, leaving the rest of the store empty. First of all, the store only had one "archery guy," and he left two hours before the store closed. Then again, I guess he can leave whenever he wants. What are they going to do, fire their only "archery guy"? Guy has to be pulling six figures with that kind of job security. Needless to say, after searching the store and finally finding someone to help, no one there even knew the price of loose arrows, much less were able to cut any. Fine... I'll get them online. But wait, there's more! If you thought getting your hands on a fishing or hunting license would be a piece of cake, think again. We approached the lady at the service desk, the one that didn't so much as wave at us as we walked in and asked for a fishing license. Now, I'm not sure if what she said was true or if she just didn't feel like making it, but, surprise, surprise, the printer was as broken as my dreams of getting any customer service in the place! The crazy part is that hunting season starts just next month. I wonder how much this place is missing out on?? All in all, if you're seeking an adventure in customer service wilderness, head over to Bass Pro Shop. Who knows, maybe you'll get to see the legendary "archery guy" who comes and goes like a fleeting breeze, and if you're lucky, you might even get a glimpse of the broken license printer operated by a surly woman that just didn't seem to want to be there. This place closes at 9.pm but no one knows how to do their jobs at 7pm. We had tried to get arrows but no one was at their post and once we found a person they said that their bow guy went home one guy in the store for bows is a smart idea. Who doesn't love Bass Pro? If you're a person that loves the outdoors, this is the place for you! I'm sure most people know what Bass Pro offers, so I will give some insight on this particular store, itself. Walking in, dont expect to be greeted by anyone. Rather, dont expect anyone to talk to you unless you get their attention first. This was my experience the past few times I've been here. Oh, unless of course it's something that's trying to get you to purchase a vacation or timeshare... whatever it is! Always asking questions even when you're walking away from them. Talk about annoying! The one thing this place offers that I haven't seen at many other Bass Pro stores is the HUGE clearance section. I visit different Bass Pro Shops 2 or 3 times a year and the Macon store is like the others in that they are in cahoots with the type of people that can do a lot of harm. You go into a store to buy a few shirts & some ammo and come out with a lifelong commitment because you stumbled into a timeshare trap. It's setup to look like you are dealing with Bass Pro. What you get is a timeshare sales team from a Florida corporation Shame on them for letting sales people into their store that you would not let into your home. 1/7/2022 Bass Pro/Cabela's is a nice store. I like to shop there during holidays and go with my husband when he wants to go. 3:30 today I went by myself to buy a late Christmas gift. The returns/exchange desk had more than one person working. I've never seen that before. I've seen more than one person over there but never more than one working. I did some shopping. Super nice tall thin lady helped me in the men's clothing section then I went to the sales area in the back and browsed. Saw a jacket, put it in my cart. Took it to the returns/exchange desk to ask if someone could look it up for me. I needed another size. After waiting for other people to be helped but no one acknowledging me I asked the closest clerk (very young & probably new who was trying to deal with a man who was ignoring her and refusing to put his phone down) if anyone would be helping me? She said what do need? I said I was hoping someone could help me look something up. She stood on her toes and saw all my sales items and said all the sales stuff in the back. I told her that's not true. Some are on return hangers waiting to be put back, some are in the women/men clothing area on sale shelves & racks, and some are in the back. She said again all sale stuff is in the back. Sigh. I said what about the other stores? She looked at me like I had 3 heads and said "WHAT other stores?!" I told her they had other stores. I gave up. Several other people had been helped. Not me. Some manager had been summoned and was doing something with another man who had been chosen before me. The lady mgr. who I've dealt with on other occasions had been walking around behind the clerks. Not trying to help any customers OR clerks. She is always walking around outside the desk and walking in and out of the doors behind the desk. In & out. Around the outside of the desk, in & out of the desk area, in & out of the doors behind the desk but never does anything. I guess she's one of those managers who just walks around with nothing to do and tries to look busy. All the while that guy was still on the phone and the mgr-guy was having a terrible time with his person. Finally lady-pretend-mgr walked over to where I was waiting and said "that person's at lunch!" Sheesh. The good part was the lady who checked me out was a precious treasure.Hope they're smart enough to keep her. read more

Massive Bass Pro Shops! Bass Pros are very hard to find, so I'm glad this one is open. During Christmas time, they turn the entire boat section into Santa's Land and they are all decked out. The employees are very friendly. They have everything you could possibly need for hunting and fishing. read more

I visited the Bass Pro Shops to purchase a new rod and reel combo. I would have purchased it online, but BPS doesn't give discounts (military or boat owners) without calling a service rep. The Macon store didn't carry the combo I needed so it looked like it was a wasted trip. I spoke with Virgil at the fishing counter. Virgil said he would honor the sales price and build the combo from existing inventory. Virgil not only built the combo but honored my discounts. This required no shipping. I will definitely return to the Macon BPS thanks to Virgil! read more

oooohhhh... A free-standing Bass Pro that isn't attached to an ultra-discount mall. Perhaps it'll be as good as a similar-age Cabella's? Nope. No deli. No fudge. No air-gun range, paddocks, kennels, ... It's a Bass Pro but without the Saks Off-Fifth next door. The aquarium is perhaps a tad larger than other Bass Pro Shops, but it's not large enough for fishing demos. The discount area may have good deals sometimes, but we live far enough away not to stop regularly. No need to travel here, but if you're in the neighborhood and have no local hunting supply stores (damn Walmart and other mega-marts), might be worth a stop. read more

Spending yet another weekend in Middle Georgia, how else were we going to spend a lovely Saturday morning...shooting OF COURSE. The husband was out of bullets and we went to this lovely place. I have never been to a Bass Pro Shops before so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. When getting to the building, there is a specified lane that leads you there. It reminds me of a driving lane that many of the old mansions had (i.e. The Biltmore). The lane is perfectly landscaped, goes over a mile and gives the feeling of disappointment when you arrive to the weird building at the end of it. Parking is ample, but for a Saturday morning it was bombarded with SUVs and strollers. Once inside it felt like a museum scattered with merchandise throughout. Ceilings were high-vaulted and the building comprised of wooden logs. The supports for the center of the structure were huge, old Oak trunks (very pretty but made me cringe). There were mounts of every hunted animal that you can think of from North America-wolf, fox, black bears (about 15), white tailed deer (about 20), mule deer (3 ish), and reindeer (4 ish). I'm sure there were more, but I didn't go through the whole store. There was a huge tank with perch, catfish, bass, and other types of fish. As for the actual storefront they had several departments- hiking/camping, fishing, hunting, boating (an actual boat dealership), apparel, and random gift merchandise junk. Overall their markup was quite high on several things (Carhartt boots, Columbia clothing, bullets). We got what we needed, and the salesperson was knowledgeable and speedy with checking us out. They also have a huge clearance area in the back and I got a comfy pair Birkenstocks for $40. read more

Bass Pro, as a general rule, is expensive. If you're in the market for a firearm, you'd BETTER do some research before you commit to purchasing here. The good thing about this place is that they do run some very competitive sales and financing offers. I dig this store, if for nothing else, just walking in and killing an hour LOOKING at stuff. This is definitely a testosterone-driven modern shrine of retail therapy. I dig it. All in all, I've found consistent better deals at Academy, but Bass Pro is better for browsing. read more

We were tryin to waste some time, so my honey pulled up to this HUGE Bass Pro Shop - Warehouse! These places always awe me, I think because of how large they are. They have everything that an outdoorsy kinda person could want or need... clothes, fishin stuff, huntin stuff, boats, four wheelers, campin, even have household decoratin stuff. Oh and don't forget the snacks! We grabbed a few things and were just trying to enjoy the store when we were suddenly bombarded by one of those timeshare people! Really!?! In the middle of a Bass Pro Shop!?! Yup, there they were... drawn to us, like bees to honey. He seemed nice enough, until he wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. I must say that I am pretty proud of my love, because he finally just simply said... NO! and walked away! Go babe! Anywho... you must stop in if only to browse around. Super cool! read more

Definitely check out the clearance area in the back. This place is jam packed with anything camo related that you could ever want. In fact, the entire front area of the store is mostly clothes and what I would call redneck gift ideas, you know camo bedspreads and BBQ sauce. I got a pair of hiking shoes here and the staff was helpful. There is a huge supply of fishing tackle. I always feel that the hunting stuff/gun accessories are lacking. They definitely need more brands for holsters. Price wise most stuff is average or expensive unless you check the clearance area. The Redhead brand is their store brand and that's usually cheapest but you get what you pay for. I almost forgot. Every Christmas they have a real beard Santa to take pictures with. Its pretty good. He looks the part and they even let you take your own pictures as well as purchase theirs. Get there early because it gets really crowded. During Christmas is probably the best time to go they have lots of kid friendly activities. read more

My guy and I decided to take a day trip and go get the real experience of this place that promises "The Adventure Starts Here " we usually are content to shop online. While we were there we were bombarded by not one, not two , not three but 5 .......promotional sales people. I was not happy and was in state by the time we left ,time shares , vacation ownership plans, credit cards, do we want to level up our total to the next dollar amount .I can't even imagine who thinks that is a good idea .... to think we got in our car and traveled a couple of hours for these people to be walking up to us while we're shopping, stopping us trying to get us to sign up for this crap NEVER AGAIN my GOD! read more

Bass Pro is well known to be on the expensive side and this store is no exception. I stopped in here to check out their ammunition. It is in short supply in most places but, this store seemed to have a good supply of what I needed. I'm glad I stopped. Be prepared to walk a lot but, if you want to kill some time it's a great place to do it. read more

Huge Bass Pro Shop that also has a clearance/refurb/discount center in the very back. Full boating center as well. Kids love the fish tank. Not the cheapest place but sometimes I want to see or feel the product before I buy it and that can't happen online. Easy to get to off I-75. Love it! They have everything you can think of that you need for outdoor activities. During the holidays they have an Easter bunny and Santa that your kids can take pictures with. These places are always cool to check out and stretch the legs out on a long road trip, in this case between Savannah and Atlanta. They have a good gun selection and in my opinion one of the best places to buy fishing equipment. read more

Most of the time, there has never been issue with Bass Pro Shop in the gun/ammo section of the store, that is, as long as the older guys (not teens or inexperienced young people) are working back there. After speaking with an older gentleman outside of the store, he was quite upset about his current encounter with Bass Pro and their handling of THEIR own mistake. A mistake on their part not once, but twice on the same day. Ammunition was given to this gentleman and it was the wrong ammunition. He explained the situation to me. This older gentleman came in and told a young boy that was working back there that he needed help getting the right ammo for 2 guns he had just purchased for he and his wife for personal protection. He admitted that neither he or his wife were familiar with the guns at that point, i.e., the need for assistance, so mistakes were not made... He was quite prepared in supplying the boy with pictures of the guns makes/models and the stamp on the barrels showing what ammo type the guns needed, as he wasn't sure himself. Expecting the youngster to know what he was talking about, he trusted that though he would lead him and provide the right information and product. He owned a 9x18 mak semi-auto pistol and a 38 S&W revolver (both older guns), but the boy gave him the wrong ammo for both guns... He told him that they would use regular 9mm in the semi-auto and 38 spl. in the revolver. Obviously, they wouldn't work/fit when he arrived back home. Once that was figured out by the owner of the gun, he came back to get the correct ammunition and Bass Pro refused to swap the ammo or refund the transaction. In fact..., they refused to do anything. I understand laws, procedures within a company, etc., on returning opened boxes of ammo, but they should have AT LEAST offered a gift certificate for the amount paid for the wrong information and product being given. I understand that some of these young people are quite the novice to guns and ammo and they will not know better if they don't learn, but where mistakes are made, Bass Pro should take responsibility and fix those mistakes, as well as, make those mistakes KNOWN to these young people so they CAN learn and not make the same mistakes again. Otherwise, don't let them work in an area they do not know anything about. Hope they get on top of that and do better. Mistakes concerning Guns and Ammunition are NOT something that can be afforded. read more

But the clearance center is in the back, 10,000ft section of store. Lots of clothes, misc, shoes, guns, and a huge qty of fishing rods and reels. Like 10,000 rods and reels in boxes and dunk bins, divided by price. $10, 20, 30, etc. Lots of choices but most everything is bass pro brand or low end. Your not going to find top brands stacked deep in the clearance department. But there are a lot of deals and is worth a look. Would have rated higher if the clearance department was organized better. read more

I am appalled at the service of this location. I have had someone steel valuable items out of my car while in the parking lot. After trying to contact someone, Robert in "operations" could not answer simple questions and the reception lady that answered the phone was extremely rude. After making a police report, the local sheriff stated that there has been a rash of break ins in that area yet nothing is being done. So I suggest you avoid this location at all costs... read more

Went tonight to bass pro to purchase a $500 rifle scope and stood at the gun counter for 10 minutes to never be waited on. When I first arrived the lone employee was waiting on someone else and then another employee arrived to help the same customer and both employees left the gun counter to not return after 10 minutes of waiting I decided to leave the store. On my way out other store employees were standing around displays laughing and playing with the female employees. My wife who was also shopping in the store said she had the same problem getting assistance with her purchase. This is the second time I have had a less than desirable customer experience in the gun department Of this store. Guess I can just spend my money at the local academy sports or dicks ! read more

Stay away from this location. They have had numerous break ins of vehicles. I had a gun stolen out of my vehicle. After contacting the store I was told I could no view the security tape. Although the Deputy Sheriff was able to do so, the camera is so bad they could not see anything. I did a quick search of the store and the first thing that came up was vehicle break ins. I spoke with an employee in the parking lot that said they had numerous problems with break ins and the thieves went as far as cutting parts off of cars in the parking lot. So I called the store this morning and asked a few basic questions. How many break ins would you estimate you have had? She had no Idea, too many to count. What do you do to ensure people are safe? We rely on the sheriffs Dept. It took almost an hour for the deputy to make a report so they are not patrolling often . Now I do not blame the Sheriff's office, this is a private company. We have contacted corporate for more cameras. If you know you have a problem why have you not hired security to patrol your parking lot? No real answer for that one. So what I took away from this conversation, as long as you come in and spend money Bass Pro does not really care what happens. Now I understand break ins happen, but if you know your customers and their vehicles are not safe why have you not done anything to ensure their safety and security on your property. read more
