Today my father and I made a 45 minute trip to this location with the intention of spending some quality time with each other and to spend the money on the gift cards we got for Christmas. The shopping experience was amazing until we made our way to the checkout and a very rude and disrespectful employee walked out of her checkout lane and yelled at us asking if we are going to checkout and we answered yes and she proceeded to yell that we need to walk back to the end of the lane and wait by the sign LIKE IT SAYS YOU NEED TO. The sign she is referring to was a 8x10 box that was tucked away in a corner for any person looking at the thing around would not be able to see.Then she walks away from the checkouts and talked to the customer service department and made us wait one of her coworkers to call us over. Johnny Morris the owner of Bass Pro shop is a complete thief, he bought out Cabela's Bass Pro's number one competitor. Johnny Morris owns tracker, Boats, G3 Boats, and like four or five other brands Johnny Morris has went out and bought four of the best boat companies there is which the best one was Ranger. He has cornered the market and has a monopoly on sporting goods, and Boats Ranger bass boat used to be the best boat on the market when the Forest Woods family owned it when I bought mine their customer service was great. Once Johnny Morris bought out Ranger, he started outsourcing almost everything That used to be that you could take your boat to Ranger and they would install new carpeting in it well when Johnny took over that ended just like so many other great things Ranger was doing at the time. I talked to a person and service complaining to them about it and they told me that there was a company right there in town that it opened up right after Johnny Morris Started outsourcing so many things within the company I know of five or six people that worked at Ranger for years and years and years that lost their jobs because of Johnny Morris's profit over his customers and employees. Your employees are the most important part of your business, and when you treat them like shit, and the public finds out about it, any person of morals would not do business with that company ever again. I talked to one man in the bed there for 47 years and was let go because his position was no longer needed. They never ever gave him a dime for his 47 years of service. Any owner or Board of Directors that would do that to a lifelong employee is a piece of shit. It is a shame that Johnny Morris has completely screwed. The best boat company up that there was in the world. Ranger was the top-of-the-line and nobody even came close to them and quality service and everything else that customers want to see in a company he has bought out so many Boat companies and he has the corner on the market. He must be paying off government officials because to my understanding purchases like this need to be approved by the fair trade commission. Once again, money could buy anything. He is a billionaire and I'm sure he's paying people off in the government, but it's totally unacceptable. If there was another company around That had the same selection for hunting and bass fishing I would never in my life ever go back to Bass pro but like I said, he has a corner on the market and you have no choice. read more

So I brought an 86 yo hunter in with his crossbow to look at a new scope and buy some deer season supplies. The nice man at the door was kind but I was looking for an electric shopping cart for my 86 yo man who struggles with standing and walking. The gentleman asked the lady at the customer service desk and she responded "don't you see I'm busy?". Strike one. Turns out they only have two electric buggies in the whole store so we had to make other arrangements. Strike two. Also please note that the parking lot has a very poorly marked crosswalk which made it sketchy for a slow old man to cross. We made our way to the firearm counter where there was one man working and 6 people waiting for his help. Ultimately he was directed to the bow counter. Turns out they only had two choices for a crossbow scope which was very unexpected for Bass Pro. Looking ahead we needed assistance finding green camouflage. The only one around to help was a maintenance man. Thankfully he didn't leave us hanging and found us the help we were looking for. Turns out they had no green camouflage, only brown and tan. Again, unexpected for BP. Finally we were looking for some camo wear. This department did have a really nice and helpful man named Bill. He was an older man who just enjoyed working there and was very knowledgable. Thank you to Bill, you're great. On one hand, help was pretty slim but was frustrated by the fact that numerous employees were walking around with personal bags unavailable yo help customers. My military drill was in Springfield. That location was never short of knowledgable help and plenty of everything you were looking for. Seems to me now that they did away with Cabbalas, customer service has suffered. I'm leaving 3 stars only because Bill was so helpful and kind or this visit would have rated one. read more

I went to Bass Pro for just one item- pepper spray. The countless episodes of Dog the Bounty Hunter I watch have finally gotten to me. That and the increased danger in the abandoned buildings I have to walk past multiple times a week. I entered and asked for pepper spray to the man who greeted me. I was directed to the Camping Department. It could not have been easier. They offer many choices and styles of self defense items. One item on my holiday to do list was a pair of takedown gloves. These are the gloves that come half way up your finger and then have a mitten to go over the fingers if you want full coverage. I knew Bass Pro would have them. I went on Saturday 12/10. OMG! What a mad house! It was packed! Parking, store navigation, and the checkout lines were all nearly impossible. I found the gloves and bought a nice fleece pullover for myself. Then I got out! Glad they had the gloves. One more thing checked off the list! I'll be back after the holiday rush... read more

Gun Counter Personnel Require Retraining. I stopped in this Bass Pro recently and could not believe how the staff member handled firearms. While it is not uncommon for customers to mishandle firearms in store, normally the staff at such places are at least knowledgeable. However, I witnessed the Bass Pro staff repeatedly violate the four universal rules of firearm safety. I witnessed staff "flagging" customers by nonchalantly pointing weapons at them. Making the matter worse, the staff handled weapons with their fingers on the triggers. One staff member even "cleared" a pistol by dry firing it while it was pointed at a customer's chest. When a staff member handed me a few firearms to look at, it was clear that he did not know how to properly clear the firearms, making the previous issues that much more dangerous. If I were the store manager, I would shut the whole gun section down until the staff can demonstrate basic firearms safety. Currently, they are both a danger to the customers and a significant liability for the company! read more

The staff in most all the store are knowledgeable and helpful. The only down side is every time I've been in the gun dept. I've never been ask if I needed help and I've had to seek out help. I could understand if there were a lot of people, but 3 times there was only 3 customers and there were 4 employees standing by the bows talking among one another. So you may wonder why I am sitting outside of Bass Pro in St Charles, MO an hour before they open. My adventure started yesterday when I came here to purchase a reel that came with an offer of a free rod. I shopped my way to the back of the store and when I looked for the sale items, the rack was totally empty. I asked a sales associate if they had any in the back and he said "No, we had 500 on Saturday and they sold out fast". I asked him if I could get a rain check or order it on-line and he said they were only available in-store. I looked at the ad that Bass Pro mailed to me and there is nothing stating Limited quantities, in-store only or No rain checks. I bring this up because other items listed on the same mailer shows these restrictions. I was told that they will be getting in a shipment today and that if I wanted to get this offer I had better get here early as they will surely sell out again. I looked on-line to see if the reels and rods were available and they were, but at double the mailer's price. So I am impatiently waiting for the store to open so I can purchase the advertised (but unavailable) rod and reel. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed once the store opens. We love our Bass Pro here in Missouri. We like to brag that we have the biggest one in the country right here in our fair state. (It's in Springfield just in case ANYONE didn't know that). This location is not quite as huge as the Springfield location, however, it's still massive and has probably everything any outdoorsman would want, need or desire. Which means, there's really nothing here that I want, need or desire. Regardless of that fact, I have shopped here on occasion, largely for gifts for people and once for a pair of work boots for myself. I like to think of this place as kind of the Wal-Mart of sporting goods stores. They have everything, it seems a little trashy to shop here, and it's cheaper than nearly anywhere else. It's certainly no Target....that is for sure. If you need fishing gear, hunting gear, outdoor clothes, camping equipment, you name it, this is the right place to go. They will help you find whatever you need and you will get it cheaply. Do I love shopping here, well, no. Would I if I were more of an outdoorsy type girl, well....maybe. I know my brother-in-law loves it...so I guess it's a highly likeable place...just not for folks such as myself. read more

I love the ambiance and the feeling you get when you step inside. The staff is always helpful and friendly and you're sure to find a laugh or two. Went today to look at tackle boxes. I know it's Christmas, so I expected the crowds. The problem was the line for Santa went along the wall with the tackle boxes. There wasn't enough space to see anything except the top shelves, but you could only see them from afar. The aisle was so narrow to begin with and with everyone in line having a cart it was impossible to look at what I wanted. Even if I asked someone to move, so I could get closer, it would have been useless since there was no where for them to move there carts. I just decided to leave and forget making my purchase I had planned on. As I walked out I told an employee my concern and it seemed like I was bothering her. Bass Pro advertised a Remington 700 on their website and in their weekly flyer for $449 - regular price $499. They had it in stock so drove a hundred miles to buy it. They rang up $499 plus tax. I asked about the $449 and salesman said the $50 off would be the rebate that I had to send in to Remington. Got home and checked Remingtons Rebate website only to find that this gun was not on the rebate list. I found out reading other reviews that this is not uncommon. Bass Pro blames it on Remington and Remington blames it on Bass Pro. I wrote a review on Bass Pro site so others would be aware but they didn't post it. How is this not fraud? Bass Pro or Cabelas will not get any more of my business. Hope that $50 was worth it. read more

New to the fly fishing world, I wasn't sure what to expect. I'd already picked up a book on the subject to prepare myself mentally, but was still nervous buying my first rod, reel, vest, tools, and tackle. The staff at this Bass Pro Shop, however, was very helpful. Between Gene, Pete and Brian, I ended up purchasing a beautiful rod and reel, and had enough in my budget for an excellent vest, a couple tools and some tackle. They shared a great deal of time and knowledge with me even amongst all that goes on in such a big store. The real kicker, though, was getting to sign up for a fly casting class the following morning at Boone's Lick Park! I had a great time. Our instructor, Gene, and the other participants seemed to really be enjoying the relaxed Saturday morning get together. Terrible management at this location!!! Went to store to pick up an online order walked up to Customer Service there's like 12 people in line and the only two people at the desk working I look over at the cashiers to buy stuff there's at least eight cashiers with one or two in line and a couple standing there looking bored. WTF!! So up walks one young man behind the counter and he can't stop yawning put something down walks over to the cases grab them self a monster in the water comes back stand outside the customer service desk doing nothing. You can tell the experience people that return stuff they don't wait in line they walk around to where you buy your hunting and fishing license and one of the stupid workers behind the desk leave everybody else standing in line and goes and waits on them. Now Kudos to the guy with the beard working customer service he is doing a great job he takes my online order sheet has to get cashier manager to go pull it but by the look on her face he must have suggested she eat a turd or something. Because there must be at least 20 different things she'd rather be doing than her job and still people in line at customer service now five cashiers doing nothing but there still 10 to 12 people in line with only two people at Customer Service desk.Customer service here is a sarcastic joke By the way. So my guess is since they bought Cabela's there is nowhere else to go now so they can treat their customers like shit and you have to keep coming back and because there is nowhere else to go they are going to cut workers and start acting like Wally World in the way they treat the People that make them successful businesses. read more
