We purchased our first boat over five years ago from an online ad on Yacht World and John answered the call. It was a 34 Silverton Convertible, and we knew nothing about boats. Turns out that boat was absolutely perfect for us! John was instrumental with help and answering every phone call with the hundred questions we had as new boat owners. If he was not able to answer the question, he had a contact who could. He personally helped us with everything from winterization and spring commissioning, elbows and risers to manifolds. He also installed a stereo and speaker system so we could enjoy music throughout our boat. Five years later and we are still enjoying the boat life. We expressed to John our wants in a newer and larger boat to accommodate more friends and family. He again answered the call and began what would turn into an exhausting search. We were on this search for a Silverton 392. John accompanied us on multiple trips to view potential boats, some as far as Maryland, some twenty-hour days!!! After countless trips and a failed sea trial, we found the boat of our dreams. Again, John was there to negotiate the best terms to purchase the boat. We then needed to get our new boat from Essex, CT to Danvers, MA. John, also being a licensed Captain, cleared his busy schedule to pilot our boat home. My dealer is Oyster Harbors. This is my 3rd boat through them over the last 10 years. They have treated every transaction with the highest integrity and professionalism and made sure I was not only happy with my boat, but the price. Today when I picked up this 38' Cabo Express three detailers had been all over this boat since 6:00 AM. With my 8:30 arrival they assured me the boat was to their standards of cleanliness and congratulations Mr. W. So my guests and I leave Osterville for Pleasant Bay a 2 hour ride. But before leaving, everyone I came across at the boatyard thanked me for my business and wished me the best of luck.........a celebrity was born. Peter, the owner, sent me off with his expert captain and son Andrew and we cleared the breakwater at 30 knots. He reached out to…read moreme on having a trolling motor installed on my 2023 Sea Fox 2280 Commander as he was referred by M&M Marine where I recently purchased the boat. He told me he would look into the types of trolling motors that are most commonly installed and would get back to me. He never did this, told me to bring the boat to his location, and that he would install a trolling motor. No estimates from him. He placed the onus on me to tell him the type of trolling motor. After several emails, where I included Sea Fox in the email threads, and also did research on my own and then recommended a product to him, he then refused my business and told me to go elsewhere. I have had boats well over 50 years and this is the worst experience I have ever encountered with a marine business that services boats.

Left because I found Dave McShane rude and condescending when answering my questions. I eventually found a 2019 Sea Fox in CT in excellent shape in spring of 2023 and bought it. But you need to get parts from your State's authorized dealer. Sea Fox will not take orders directly. I got a part last year from a young man on their staff, very nice, no issues. This year I called for a replacement T-top anchor light. Rosa McShane took my order and said she would have it shipped directly to my house, since I'm 70 miles roundtrip from their site, and it was an easy fix. She took my CC info and sent me an email saying it would be 2 weeks. 4 weeks later, no part, so I called and Rosa was 'sorry to hear that and she would talk to Sea Fox in Charleston when they (Sea Fox staff) return on Monday July 7th.' Not being able to go out at night fishing for the past month, and wanting to go out on the boat for the fireworks on July 4th, (hundreds of boats out, so an anchor light is a must, especially with the harbormaster!) I had my marina put in an OEM light on top of the T-top. Very nice, more solid than the original. I called Rosa and told her that, and that I wished to be refunded. She said I would need to get the part first and send it to them before I got a refund, but she would also check and see if Sea Fox sent it to them instead of me. Well I obviously had no part to send back (at my expense!), and would I ever get it? Turns out Sea Fox did send it to McShane Yacht Sales, so they had it, but never called me. I had to call after a month, then they looked around and found it. She said she could overnite it to me (my expense, and I already paid shipping), but I already had the new one. So it was In her possession anyway...but she told me Sea Fox charges them a $20 restocking fee and I'd have to pay that. I asked her why I would need to pay a $20 restock fee for a part I never received, and why wouldn't they be calling Sea Fox and asked for a waiver on it since Sea Fox screwed up, not me, nor McShane YS for that matter. She said she'd have Dave call me. Long story short, Dave McShane said I was being unreasonable fighting over $20. Wasn't he doing the same? Wouldn't he fight for a customer and tell Sea Fox they messed up and the customer, nor he the dealer should pay them $20 for their mistake? I was hoping so. Nope, he told me "You can call Trump!" (???). Today I got a refund check for the part LESS the $20. I'm tempted to go to Small Claims court, where McShane or Sea Fox Boats would also cover the $40.00 filing fee, and you can also get triple damages for an issue not resolved in 30 days. Dave M. told me 'fine, I have a piece of paper here that shows you ordered a Special order part from us'. So what? A light is a 'special order'? Doesn't matter what kind of order it is. I didn't get what i was promised in 2 weeks. He also said 'you can come down here and get your part', and that's when he hung up on me. But I'll just post this review here, and a few other sites as well. Lesson learned. Tom H

We attended a wedding at the West Dennis Yacht Club on Saturday, and I am happy to report that the…read morefacility was a great destination. Despite Mother Nature not cooperating as the remnants of Hurricane Jose brought cooler than normal temps for late September combined with breezy conditions, clouds and rain, the West Dennis Yacht Club was prepared for the day. The facility was prepared with a tent if needed for the ceremony, but the couple and their family decided to take their vows outside despite the breezy and misty conditions. While challenging for the hair and sleeveless outfits, the couple completed their vows and were determined to enjoy their first moments as husband and wife. White chairs on the green grass in front of the waterfront setting was impressive despite the lack of blue skies and sun. Indoors for the reception, the facility was sized for a 150 or so sized wedding with up to 20 tables and a head table. This left some room for the band and a modest dance floor on one side and the bar and mingling area on the other side. The outdoor deck provided the perfect location for the raw bar as well as a place to get fresh air, stretch your legs or enjoy conversation without the pageantry of the wedding reception and band. I would recommend a wedding less than 150 to provide more flow and better acoustics particularly for toasts and speeches. Wedding food is generally never a highlight of the day, but the choices of entree were up to the challenge. The choice of chicken, beef, or vegetarian (eggplant lasagne) were all prepared with side vegetables (zucchini, summer squash, onion) and a salad of greens with mozzarella cheese drizzled with a vinaigrette dressing. Overall, the food was well done. The staff was friendly and accommodating with service that was ever present, yet not disruptive. The bartenders were busy with the bar open from 4PM until 11PM, but were always smiling and ready to accommodate varying eclectic tastes. If you are interested in a waterfront Cape Cod wedding, I would recommend you look at the West Dennis Yacht Club....hopefully Mother Nature is more accommodating, but it is nice to know that they are able to accommodate less than ideal conditions too.
