I was on the way to my mooring in barnstable harbor when the gas cut out to my brand new 115 horsepower Yamaha. I remembered from my youth that I used to bring my boat down to milway Marina for some help on my engine and I actually would work on it with them but that was over 50 years ago. So when I got there they no longer fix them right at the marina. But I talked to Ian, the service manager and he said they'd be able to take a look at it. Well he got in his boat and he went out to my boat on the harbor mooring diagnose the problem and fixed it right there. One of the valves from the gas tank was stuck shut and it was above my grade level. In the summer to get such service I must say I was very happy. He pointed out another problem that I hopefully will get fixed this fall with him. Couldn't have asked for better service.... It's amazing. Sometimes you go into the Marine shops during the summer and they say I just don't want any more business... Ian went out of his way to gain a new customer. read more

A lesson in how not to treat people: I repowered my boat a few year ago with them and had yearly service on engine until now (no issues). But b/c I'm not a "full service customer", this is how they treat you if you don't spend enough $ with them (i.e. don't want to be ripped off). Pathetic and inexcusable. I am fortunate enough to live very close to Millway Marina so these folks are part of my day to day community. I have known them for more than 10 years. Carla leads the pack in customer service - she is highly responsive, results oriented, caring and always friendly. Her love for the cape comes through in every email and phone call and is, frankly, infectious! Can't say enough about her. Dana sold me 2 boats (a 25 Sportsman then an upgrade to an 31 open) and sold another (bass tracker) for me. He has always been my go to for questions about almost anything related to boating. Like Carla he is knowledgeable, highly responsive and always eager to get the best result for his customers. Ian has come to my rescue many times for all kinds of reasons - he knows everything about boat mechanics/electronics and when he doesn't know he is quick to find someone who does. I bought a new boat from Dana and Millway in 2016. I have been fortunate that neither the boat nor motor have had any significant issues. I did step up the entire electronics package a couple of years ago and was extremely pleased at the open communications with the Service folks about options, pricing, and costs for doing the work. The results were and are awesome. I am one of those folks who believes that properly commissioning and winterizing the boat will extend its life and ensure a trouble-free boating season. I also believe that having the work done by professionals like these folks is a much smarter move than trying do it myself. Went on their whale watcher cruise The boat ride was one hour long from Barnstable to Provincetown . We went on a cold day on May 30. The whole thing lasted 4 hours so I suggest for you guys who's planning to giro eat well and layer up. There are no "real food" that can be purchased on board. And the coffee is not good. You're also not allowed to bring your own drinks or food on board. They did allow enough time for whale watching and the guide was very helpful in educating about whale read more

Millway Marina Boat Owners/Buyers Beware !!! I've been a customer of Millway Marina for the last 5 years. I purchased a new 20' Maritime from them and also rented a slip from them which was part of the sale agreement for the boat. I never displaced an existing slip owner when I purchased my boat. I spent in excess of $40k with Millway Marina for this boat. At the end of March this year I had not received my 2015 slip renewal contract from Millway Marina which I typically receive the end of Feb. I called and emailed Dana Bassett the General Manager from Millway and was told that I was on a waiting list for a slip in 2015. Waiting list? How can I be on a waiting list as I've been renting the slip for the last 5 years? I was told that I was considered a "seasonal" customer and that a couple of his other year round customers upgraded to larger boats that they bought from Millway and as a result the only way I would be eligible for a slip this year was if someone else didn't renew their contract. As you can imagine, I'm extremely upset by these inconsiderate business practices. I didn't perform my winter service/storage with Millway because I store the boat at my house in a heated garage. I've done this since I purchased the boat from Millway. A couple of facts I'd like to point out to everyone are as follows: Facts: 1) I paid an extra $50/ft to slip my boat with Millway because I didn't perform my winter storage with them. This was $285/ft or $5,700 for last season. I didn't set this additional cost per foot for not winter storing my boat with them, Millway Marina did. 2) I was never told that I would be considered a "seasonal" customer and at risk of losing my slip with Millway Marina should another "year round" customer decide to buy a larger boat from Millway Marina. 3) I never found this issue out until the end of March when I called the marina to see where my 2015 slip renewal contract was. When was Millway going to tell me? 4) Millway's primary motivation is to sell new boats even at the expense of displacing existing good customers who previously had bought their boat from them. 5) I was told that Millway was working on a solution to move a piling that would make room for my boat and Dana Basset assured me that he was reasonably certain that he'd be able to accommodate my boat. Dana promised to get back to me and give me an update on moving the piling. He sent me one email to let me know that the piling move was delayed by a week and that was the beginning of April. I've called back to check on the status and he is always busy and can't receive my call. I left a message with the office person to have Dana call me and she personally told me that Dana or her would call me back. I have heard nothing. Remember, I bought my boat from this company !!! I understand the boating season is very short in New England and these small marinas count on the winter storage and service they perform on boats to make a living. What I take exception to is not knowing that I would be considered a "seasonal" customer and be at risk to loose my slip. Keep in mind I was paying an extra $1,000 a year to make up for not doing the winter storage with them and never thought or was told that I was at risk to loose my slip to another boat owner that wanted to buy a bigger boat from Millway Marina. If Millway Marina was up front and made me aware that they considered me a "seasonal" customer and I was at risk to a year round customer wanting to upgrade to a larger boat, I would have had Millway Marina store and service the boat for the winter. I didn't find this out until I lost my slip !! Be very careful of Millway Marina's business practices and slip owners beware !! read more
