I Bought a new boat from Bosun's in East Falmouth…read morein 2015 and they gave me what seemed to be honest, good, friendly service for several years, for which I paid them a lot of money for those services. We also put several hundred hours on our boat and we just loved it. Then In 2018 that all changed terribly. Bosun's Marine said they winterized my boat's 2 x Yamaha 350 engines, the generator, the water systems, the head, and so on, and charged me for it all the typical several thousand dollars. But the truth was that they never did any of what they said they did to winterize my boat that fall. I live in the West and could not go East and see that what they said they did was actually done. I had to trust them. The next spring I then again paid for their getting my boat ready for the 2019 season, including Patrick, their mechanic, saying that he did a sea trial of the boat and all it's systems and that everything worked just fine except that one of the two Yamaha 350 engines blew up and was destroyed as he conducted that sea trial. The only part of what he said that was true was that he had blown up the engine that had not been winterized properly the fall before. We found out later that he had never even looked at the generator, head or any other systems on the boat that spring. That was all a lie. They did no such comprehensive spring sea trial, except to blow up one of the two Yamaha motors. They then said that my boat insurance would not cover the engine and so they said it would cost me something like $40,000 to buy a new engine, and that that was my only option. After putting on the new engine they then told me my boat was all ready to take and use for the summer. So I went to Bosun's and walked through the boat and tested basic things. The generator did not work. It seems they never winterized it or changed the oil in it the previous fall or in the Spring. This lying to me continued to go on for weeks. They kept saying things were all fixed when they were not, and they of course kept charging me thousands of dollars more. I met with Tim Leedham, Bob, Patrick and others and they just kept lying to me and saying they had done it all correctly the fall before and that these things just happened when boating. Once the boat was finally seaworthy, months later, I decided to put the boat up for sale. I could no longer work with Bosun's or boat at and around Cape Cod. Since I don't live on or near the Cape, and the boat was at Bosun's, I had them sell it. I lost over another $60,000 from what similar boats, models and years were selling for during the sale of my boat. Bosun's Marine and it's owners and service people destroyed our family's love for boating, trust in Cape Cod marine-related people and services, and cost us many tens of thousands of dollars beyond what was remotely reasonable. The employees who knew what was going on would not talk to me for fear of being fired, and just said that the Bosun's Marina was just not what it used to be, and that similar experiences were happening with other boaters who used Bosun's. The whole experience was just awful, terribly costly, and so very disappointing, especially the blatant dishonesty of management and other employees. It was just the worst possible experience! I would obviously not recommend Bosun's to anyone. For those still using Bosun's, read your statements of costs for services very carefully and watch out for their over billing, double billing and extra parts and services billings. Check that services really are done. Or, better still, take your boat somewhere else, to a reputable, honest dealer.

"When you pick your boat up in the spring, I don't want to see you until the fall". This has stood true since the beginning, something you don't see when or hear of in the boating world. Fast forward to new owners, leadership at the facility. I trusted Rick to repower my boat with new motors, removing motors still in great condition due to service provided over the years but was time. Ruben now running the shop and Stephanie behind the counter managing Operations has been a great transition. Responsible, reliable and there to answer the calls whether for service or just a question. I will say behind the counter was bumpy for a bit but Steph stepped in and is killing it like a seasoned veteran of the business, getting you in for appointment, serviced and on the water as quick as possible. If it's service outside of their scope, upholstery for example, she lines you up with the proper person to get it done. What I like, 1 STOP SHOP! Rick, enjoy retirement. We purchased our first boat over five years ago from an online ad on Yacht World and John answered the call. It was a 34 Silverton Convertible, and we knew nothing about boats. Turns out that boat was absolutely perfect for us! John was instrumental with help and answering every phone call with the hundred questions we had as new boat owners. If he was not able to answer the question, he had a contact who could. He personally helped us with everything from winterization and spring commissioning, elbows and risers to manifolds. He also installed a stereo and speaker system so we could enjoy music throughout our boat. Five years later and we are still enjoying the boat life. We expressed to John our wants in a newer and larger boat to accommodate more friends and family. He again answered the call and began what would turn into an exhausting search. We were on this search for a Silverton 392. John accompanied us on multiple trips to view potential boats, some as far as Maryland, some twenty-hour days!!! After countless trips and a failed sea trial, we found the boat of our dreams. Again, John was there to negotiate the best terms to purchase the boat. He told me he would look into the types of trolling motors that are most commonly installed and would get back to me. He never did this, told me to bring the boat to his location, and that he would install a trolling motor. No estimates from him. He placed the onus on me to tell him the type of trolling motor. After several emails, where I included Sea Fox in the email threads, and also did research on my own and then recommended a product to him, he then refused my business and told me to go elsewhere. I have had boats well over 50 years and this is the worst experience I have ever encountered with a marine business that services boats.

Left because I found Dave McShane rude and condescending when answering my questions. I eventually found a 2019 Sea Fox in CT in excellent shape in spring of 2023 and bought it. But you need to get parts from your State's authorized dealer. Sea Fox will not take orders directly. I got a part last year from a young man on their staff, very nice, no issues. This year I called for a replacement T-top anchor light. Rosa McShane took my order and said she would have it shipped directly to my house, since I'm 70 miles roundtrip from their site, and it was an easy fix. She took my CC info and sent me an email saying it would be 2 weeks. 4 weeks later, no part, so I called and Rosa was 'sorry to hear that and she would talk to Sea Fox in Charleston when they (Sea Fox staff) return on Monday July 7th.' Not being able to go out at night fishing for the past month, and wanting to go out on the boat for the fireworks on July 4th, (hundreds of boats out, so an anchor light is a must, especially with the harbormaster!) I had my marina put in an OEM light on top of the T-top. Very nice, more solid than the original. I called Rosa and told her that, and that I wished to be refunded. She said I would need to get the part first and send it to them before I got a refund, but she would also check and see if Sea Fox sent it to them instead of me. Well I obviously had no part to send back (at my expense!), and would I ever get it? Turns out Sea Fox did send it to McShane Yacht Sales, so they had it, but never called me. I had to call after a month, then they looked around and found it. She said she could overnite it to me (my expense, and I already paid shipping), but I already had the new one. So it was In her possession anyway...but she told me Sea Fox charges them a $20 restocking fee and I'd have to pay that. I asked her why I would need to pay a $20 restock fee for a part I never received, and why wouldn't they be calling Sea Fox and asked for a waiver on it since Sea Fox screwed up, not me, nor McShane YS for that matter. She said she'd have Dave call me. Long story short, Dave McShane said I was being unreasonable fighting over $20. Wasn't he doing the same? Wouldn't he fight for a customer and tell Sea Fox they messed up and the customer, nor he the dealer should pay them $20 for their mistake? I was hoping so. Nope, he told me "You can call Trump!" (???). Today I got a refund check for the part LESS the $20. I'm tempted to go to Small Claims court, where McShane or Sea Fox Boats would also cover the $40.00 filing fee, and you can also get triple damages for an issue not resolved in 30 days. Dave M. told me 'fine, I have a piece of paper here that shows you ordered a Special order part from us'. So what? A light is a 'special order'? Doesn't matter what kind of order it is. I didn't get what i was promised in 2 weeks. He also said 'you can come down here and get your part', and that's when he hung up on me.
