You can only imagine my extreme unhappiness when my new building owner turned manager came up with a trumped up UD/Eviction scheme to get me out of my Venice cottage home of 8 years... As a rent stabilized group of units this nasty person constructed a terrible scheme to get the 5 tenants to move out by ripping up the walkways, the landscaping and our perimeter fencing under the guise of renovation. We were holding firm, knowing we had our rights. When I was served the U/D Eviction notice on New Years Eve, I knew my next call was to Basta. I soon met with Rebeca Marcos who smoothly went through the material I had and asked questions that aligned my case with the Los Angeles city and county agencies to support my case. I usually don't write many yelp reviews, but its a matter of sharing how good this guys are to other people in need of representation when facing a Unlawful Detainer lawsuit. If i could rate them 10 stars i would. My name was listed on a Unlawful Detainer case to an apartment o moved out over a year ago. I went to BASTA ! for help. After no more than 3 minutes waiting i was sitting on a desk talking to someone about my case. I was told it would cost me $500 to do a motion to try removing my name from the case. If the court didn't accept motion it would cost me another $500 to represent me (a bargain for legal professional experienced representation). Reading the summons of my case, Kevin told me: "I know this lawyer. Let me give him a call and se what i can do." BASTA could easily make $1000 bucks on my case and it would be money well spent if my name was removed from the case. Well, I was "Dismissed without prejudice" and it costed me absolutely NOTHING!! Thats right, i got a phone call the next day and was told they got my name dropped from the case and i was completely off the hook. I went to the Court next day and i confirmed that my name was taken off already. This guys are in business to really help people and do what's right. basta is the BOMB i had a slumlord who took mail out my mailbox and i missed my trial date so the landlord got a default judgement same day the landlord came knocking on my door asking for me to get my things and leave and for a key idk what was going on i went down to the court and was advised that I missed the trial that must have been god because i then found basta for just a little money i paid them and my landlord 1 month rent to stay for 3 additional months settled and sealed the default judgement. I couldn't be happier with BASTA. My landlord sent me a notice complaining that I had an extra person living with me. They tried to evict me for that and I had to find an attorney. I have used BASTA several times over the years. I ran into Danny (the brains/creator of Basta) accidentally at the DT courthouse while dealing with an issue, pro per. It turned out to be a very advantageous encounter. Over the years I have gotten excellent advice & counsel from this firm. If you have a landlord that is especially litigious, with entitlement issues, a "psychopath," who oversteps their rights, BASTA will become your best friend. I WON!!!!! I WON!!!! WE WON!!!! after 7 harrowing, crazy trial days at the Van Nuys Courthouse East. My amazing, kick-ass attorney was Jonathan S.
