We had a group of 4 adults, 1 toddler when we went in around 6pm. We were seated promptly, and my wife and 2 year old who have dairy allergies asked questions to verify what they could and could not eat. We ordered around 620. Fast forward to 715pm and the food finally arrives. My food was wrong, and the food she ordered which was meatballs and spaghetti ended up just being spaghetti because they realized the meatballs had dairy after repeated confirmation. Mind you, this was brought to light as the food was being dropped off at our table. 3 of of the 5 people who were there did not get to eat, and one of whom was a 2 year old. I like this place as a quick dinner after work on Friday. My wife regularly gets a chicken tortellini dish and I get the blackened chicken and shrimp. The entrees are accompanied by salad and homemade garlic bread. I like everything most of the time. The chicken and shrimp come out sometimes so salty it's nearly inedible. I've had to send it back 2-3 times to have them mix in some Alfredo to spread out the seasoning. Sadly the adding of the blackened seasoning must be done by eye and therefore is sadly inconsistent. It probably won't keep me from visiting. But, I wish they'd figure out a way to make it consistent. read more

Go early! Went on a Friday night around 5 and they were getting busy. Started with the fried calamari and a cup of MD Crab soup. Both were good. They brought out salad and freshly baked bread while waiting for your entrees to come out. The bread is huge - like 4 inches long and an airy 2 inches thick!! My dinner companion tried the Salmon Mediterranean with sweet potato feta hash and asparagus and LOVED the unique flavor. I had the Seafood Fettuccine with sauce on the side. The sauce is delicious and they did not skimp on the seafood. We ordered dessert to go because we were soo full. Both cakes were great - strawberry shortcake and lemon cake! Let me start by saying basta pasta has been are go to for a fabulous dining experience. Service and the food have always been fantastic. This experience was not up to the usual standards. The service was a bit spotty because clearly they were very understaffed. The food was a bit off as well. We had a great experience here. The crab dip was tasty, the salad and dressing were so good, and the garlic bread was soft and well seasoned. When it came to the entees, their flavors could just be kicked a little bit. The lemon wine could have more lemon flavor to lighten the dish. The prosciutto wasn't anything special. The pesto pasta was great though a bit lacking in pesto. Considering it's pricey for the area, most dishes were worth the cost. What a difference a year makes. Shortly after Basta Pasta opened, we visited twice and were disappointed with service this organization and business policies there. I posted a review at the time and swore that I would not come back. Last night we were back and our experience couldn't have been any more different and any more positive. Our waitress was outstanding the menu was improved the prices were fair and the facility has expanded to the point that we did not have to wait in line. Everything was excellent. An Italian friend quibbles that warm bread and olive oil with cheese don't come to the table automatically and they do not. But if that's the biggest quibble, it's a great restaurant experience at Basta Pasta has become just that. Did they up their game all by themselves or did my candid post of a year ago have anything to do with it? Either way going forward we plan to be regulars. read more

First dinner in Maryland was a hit! My friend wanted to stop here just for the crab rolls but all the food was delicious. The restaurant was a little bit on the fancier side so I'd recommend dressing nice and expecting at least a $50 tab. A hometown go-to! Amazing food with huge portions! One of my fav entrees is the tortelloni pesto, and my boyf loves the baby clams linguine. For apps definitely try the zucchini chips, lamb chops, truffle fries, calamari, and Maryland crab soup. Their blackberry sangria is fantastic and they make some of the best orange crushes in town... Very mediocre food. We ordered the calamari way too fried. I'm not even sure there was any actual calamari in it? We sat in the bar area, and it was nice. There was one singer, and the music was still at a level that you could carry on a conversation which I appreciate. Servers were very friendly but when you're delivering me a martini, I'd prefer if your fingers weren't on the edge of my glass where I drink from. Thats just gross and I ordered mine with blue cheese olives which I never did get... This place is fine for happy hour, fare, and a cocktail, but I would not recommend for dinner. We went Valentine's Day. We have been before and love the Happy Hour. However, the bar area is not a bar to get a drink before dinner. The tables in the restaurant are "reserved" and the counter at the bar was full of people eating! We were told we could get a drink served at our table, since we had reservations and there was no where for us to stand. However the tables in the bar area were empty! This absolutely makes no sense! Why have a bar? Also, we were told they didn't honor happy hour because it was Valentine's! No where did it say that. The whole bar area threw me off. I got chicken piccata. It was ok, but the mushrooms were tasteless and under cooked. Our waitress was not efficient with the salad or bread. We had to ask for it, and then she disappeared when we wanted another glass of wine. My partner got the crab soup, and said it was good and had the salmon capellini and said it was ok. The pasta was very overcooked. Tonight was a huge disappointment. My suggestion is have a bar area where one can enjoy a drink, and if that area is to eat at the bar, then just make it part of the restaurant! Also, have your waitstaff be more aware of customers needs, we weren't just a couple paying for mediocre food and service. read more

The stellar customer service and delicious food made Basta Pasta our obvious choice for catering a few dishes for our graduation party. The eggplant parmesan is the most authentic we have found in the area. The thick, perfectly cooked slices with delicious sauce put this eggplant parm over-the-top! I had a $$ off Birthday coupon for Basta Pasta so we went there for dinner today. It was early, just after four, so it was sparsely populated. The waitress, Ciara, was delightful and attentive. The menu is pretty expansive, the pricing a bit higher than I expected in this location. I ordered the Chicken Chesapeake as this is the dish I have been using recently to compare restaurants. My husband chose Crab Imperial Stuffed Roughy. We were brought hot bread and butter to eat with the preliminarily salad bowl. While not a Panera salad, it was miles above Olive Garden's iceberg monstrosity. I was a bit confused when the Chicken Chesapeake arrived. While the crab cake was made with lumpbackfin and pretty good (a bit dry and overseasoned) the "chicken " was not chicken at all but a "Salisbury Chicken" - a Salisbury Steak made with ground chicken instead of beef. The seasoning in the Chicken Salisbury were not complimentary to the crab cake and the texture was off-putting. I managed to eat a quarter of it, gave a quarter to my husband and tossed the rest. I might suggest that the menu be altered to indicate the nature of the dish to avoid unpleasant surprises when it is delivered to the table. My husband said he thoroughly enjoyed his stuffed orange roughy. The broccoli was perfectly cooked and the spinach was delightful. read more

What a great place. We sat in the bar area and has excellent service from several servers. We loved the included bread and salad. Zucchini chips were a treat cooked in very clean oil. Meals were served hot (rare these days), and were large portions at very reasonable prices, Chicken Parmesan, Veal Piccata, Chicken Umbertina were excellent. Fettuccine Carbonara could have used a little more bacon and a touch more flavor. All the pasta were cooked to perfection. This was an outstanding date night experience. Our fist time at Basta Pasta will not be our last. Firstly, our server was excellent. For a staff that seemed to trend young they appeared to have great training or just genuinely like working there. It was a refreshing antidote to the still awkward we are massless and they are masked scenario. We got the special Ap of the night shrimp scampi on toast points and it was excellent. We didn't anticipate the salad and bread ( we haven't been out for Italian in ... over a year) and while we didn't need it, the bread and salad were too delicious to pass up. So we killed the salad and half the bread before our entrees. I had the house specialty Cajun chicken and shrimp penne and it was OUTSTANDING. My wife had the pene a la vodka with chicken that she liked very much. I thought the smokiness of the bacon was a bit overpowering but it was still delicious. I absolutely love this place! I would give it 4.5 if I could. The only thing I didnt care for was the chicken piccata. I love chicken piccata but it had way, way to many mushrooms on it. Had a terrible experience with the management staff. Was there for a wedding rehearsal dinner and had my half drunken drink taken from me because my ID was out of state even though it was valid. The manager made a huge deal out of it when he came to the table to take it and then proceeded to take the hostess of our party for 20+ minutes to tell her that they had to take multiple other drinks because they "weren't sure" if they were of age.
