I don't make it out this way often but made the trek to visit some friends and enjoy dinner at Fiamata. I hear the area doesn't have much going for it in terms of cuisine so Fiamata is a welcome addition. The inside is huge and the menu is lengthy with mainly Italian-inspired dishes. I was happy to see gluten free pasta as an option, especially since so many of the pastas sounded incredible! I got the fettuccine mediterraneo with gluten free penne and vodka rose sauce. It was absolutely delicious with generous portions of seafood including perfectly cooked scallops. The pasta was a little overcooked which is easy to do with gluten free pasta - I'd recommend cooking it for 3-5 min less for a more al dente noodle. We also shared a few appetizers including the mussels and the caprese. The mussels were pretty good but the star of the show was that caprese. It tasted so fresh, bright, and flavorful. So good! The wine selection is pretty good too and they have a full bar. I'd definitely return in the future.

We chose Fiamata after passing by the location for months while they prepared for the opening. Italian is an easy sell for us, so we called to make reservations for our Anniversary dinner. I did NOT read the Yelp reviews throughly (I should have) where someone noted two important facts that proved true - the dining room was chilly, and it's loud. Don't expect any semblance of romance. It's a borderline party in there. Not a complaint, but not everyone's vibe for a Saturday night dinner so it's important to note. Our waitress was great. We also had staff check in frequently, understanding our waitress was running around a lot and was delayed. That was nice. Bread arrived quickly, as did our appetizer, starter salads and entrees. All delivered separately, allowing us enough time to enjoy each course - love that! The calamari was standard - nice, hot and crispy, and came with the standard dips. Our drinks were just OK. I should have ordered wine. Our salads were good. The spinach salad came with strawberries, feta, pecans and a berry vinaigrette. I would have loved goat cheese. I think the vinaigrette was made with raspberries, which I'm not fond of. I should have asked what KIND of berries were melded into the dressing. My husband LOVED his fettuccini mediterraneo. I tasted it, and I agreed. My chicken Rockefeller was disappointing. I did request a revision to the recipe because I didn't want the sambuca sauce (the waitress said it would have a black licorice taste) so she offered to sub the sambuca sauce for cream sauce. I should have asked for Alfredo, because the cream sauce, in addition to the two thin chicken breasts, were tasteless. The spinach infused in the pasta dish had all of the flavor, and the bacon was few and far between. I would not order this dish again, but would definitely return to order my husband's entree. No desserts - I was cold and a little disappointed in my entree so we decided to head home, but we would return. They have a decent sized bar area so I'd like to see if they offer happy hours.

    Great wine pairing with everything

Finally!!! A great place in the Burg! The food is the real star, Bucatini Arrabiata (actually spicy thank goodness, add shrimp & thank me later), arancini is fantastic, as is the Rollatini, and the pizza!!! Fig & Pig is the perfect blend of salty and sweet and Margherita is a classic. Other honorary mentions would be the mussels (both the red and wine sauce are great) as well as the fettuccine mediterraneo with red sauce. As for wine, the Aviary birds of prey red blend is a great pairing with anything on the menu. The staff are really friendly.I like the ambiance more in the bar than the dining room but likely a personal preference. I do wish they had their own version of an Italian salad and dressing like I find in little Italy and in-house desserts but can't have it all! Well done Fiamata team, happy to have you in the neighborhood!

Food, service and ambiance amazing. 2nd time here and it is even better than the first! Great food, Nichole was amazing and gave us great service! Highly recommend

The food was amazing. Even our picky child was happy! The portions were large, so come hungry or plan to share. The cocktails also A+. The service was fast and attentive. It's a welcome addition to Finksburg!

Very hot, quite uncomfortable, no place to park, loud, and difficult to get around if you are disabled. Food pretty good.

The ribs are absolutely delicious, and the burgers and fries never disappoint. I've also had the salmon and the brick-style flame-grilled chicken, which has an amazing smoky, flame-grilled flavor and is always cooked just right. One of my favorite memories is sitting by the fireplace and enjoying a cozy meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it just as enjoyable to dine in as it is to take your food home. If you're looking for a reliable restaurant with generous portions, great service, and food that keeps you coming back, Glenwood is an excellent choice. This bar does not give any presentation or flair to their non alcoholic beverages. Pom and Circumstance was zesty and sweet . The Half Moon drink was nothing more than grapefruit juice with a cherry . I was expecting more presentation since it's literally a tonic. I would like to mention that the bar was slammed with guests and the tables were not getting their drinks on time. So, maybe it was a slippery Sunday night for the bar and my zero proof drinks lacked in pizazz. The watermelon salad was a wild card choice as Glenwoods does not have much fresh fruit on the menu. I wish it was not so chunky ... chunks of watermelon and tomato covered in a balsamic sauce and feta cheese. This salad pairs nicely with the arugula. The sides were hot and came out expeditiously. The burger was undercooked and the server offered to re-Fire a new burger. 5 out 10 night .

Decided to tag along to Maria's yesterday…read more Parking was not a hastle. I entered at the bar area. Was not greeted however upon exiting bar area to the quieter dining area I was quickly greeted. There were multiple large parties occuring one upstairs (actual party as its their reserved party area) and another in the side dining ares. So there was a bit of louder but reserved noise at time. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I ordered a Paloma spirited (on the bar special board in the bar area), grilled octopus, a side greek salad. All came out within reason. However, I had to send back my order of grilled octopus as it was OVER cooked and extremely tuff/rubberly. I then ordered ziti with blackened chicken and extra mozzarella. This came out hot and within reason. The portion was huge. Its more then enough for 2 plus people. So tasty and delicious. I then ordered the island mule (from the bar special board) so enjoyable.

I enjoyed my meal but for the uneven temperatures. I would have like everything hotter. The potatoes were hot, the roasted vegetables were warm and and the cod was tepid. I A guest ordered the cream of crab soup and it came out warm so was sent back. All those who got the crab cake were delighted. 3 crab soups were enjoyed and I ended up with 2 great appetizers: the oven fried octopus & the lamb chops , very meaty and a pleasant surprise. One guest got eggplant and spaghetti. Since we are expecting a snow storm I have two doggie bags the Papillion will not be sharing. We were in a room with another much larger party, we were a party of 7. They were louder than us but we had no complaints as we had no problem hearing each other. The building Maria's is in apparently was a former karaoke bar and before that a lovely house. The menu is eclectic : Italian, Greek, Chesapeake Bay &, some Mexican food thrown in. My biggest complaint is the uneven temperature of the food. The kitchen might wish to get their act together. Meanwhile, this weekend at home I'll be eating my delicious cod & vegetables and maybe some spaghetti another night. One more plus: very accommodating as far as adjusting the plates for those lactose & butter intolerant

Another food runner also deserves recognition because he was incredibly motivated and on top of everything. Their timing was perfect. Braydn seemed to intuitively know exactly when to check on us, refill our drinks, and ask if we were ready to order. She was genuinely friendly and looked like she truly enjoyed her job, which always makes for a better dining experience. We sampled a few cocktails, and my White Cosmo was absolutely delicious! For dinner, I ordered the Oh My Mahi, and "oh my" was exactly my reaction. The moist mahi mahi was served over a bed of saffron rice and topped with an Asian slaw. There were so many layers of flavor, and every bite depended on how you attacked it. I started by dragging my fork through the hoisin sauce and picking up some rice, fish, and slaw all together. The temperature and flavor combinations were remarkable with the hot saffron rice with just a hint of hoisin, the fresh, flaky fish, a pop of ginger, then the cooler, crisp crunch of carrots, cabbage, red onion, red pepper, and I think spinach. Every bite was different, the presentation was beautiful, and the meal was simply amazing. My husband ordered the Papa Burger, a clever play on "jalapeño popper." It featured two flavorful patties topped with bacon, jalapeño jelly, cheddar, cream cheese, sautéed onions, and fresh-cut fries. I stole one bite...then another...then a third! I'm officially renaming it the "Oh My Poppa Burger" because it may have been the best burger I've ever tasted. That says a lot because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to burgers. I'm not even a bacon fan. Yet somehow this combination just worked. What is in that cream cheese, bacon, and jalapeño jelly combo that make this burger so ridiculously good? Next time I'm in a burger mood, I am coming here! But everything looked so good so I may be back before that burger mood strikes. The only reason I'm giving Lost Lion four instead of five stars is that my husband would have loved to add a simple slice of tomato and some lettuce. We were hesitant to ask because we know substitutions can snowball, and we quickly got the impression that the chef preferred not to alter the menu as written. He didn't even dare ask for a side of ranch for the fries after this. If small additions like lettuce or tomato were an option, even for a small upcharge, it would make an already fantastic burger even better for some. That said, between the outstanding service, creative and delicious food, excellent cocktails, and warm ambiance on a Thursday evening, The Lost Lion made a wonderful first impression. We'll definitely be back.
