We couldn't keep staying in hotels, so we were forced to move back in and terminate that contract. At the time, our toilette was literally in our living room, only ~30% flooring was laid down, and it turned out to be a mix of extremely cheap wood and (believe it or not) used boards they pulled up from a different project. Alvarado was the company - avoid them! We really did our homework this second time before choosing who to turn to, and we choose Haywood. Not only did they fit us in earlier than expected, and worked extra hours to get it done for us, but they did such an amazing job you couldn't tell the difference between the horrible work the first company had started (that they had to patch up heavily) and the new flooring they brought in. My wife and I were (and remain) completely amazed at what they were able to do, the really hard work the Haywood team put in, and the incredible results - its all seamless and beautiful looking throughout. Definitely recommend them for anyone who is looking for a professional and reliable team to take care of installing hardwood floors at a fantastic price.

And after bad experiences with the "big box" stores on major appliance and home related purchases, I wasn't giving them any more money. Of all things, my plumbing contractor recommending Dominion Floor Covering after I even complained to them about bad service, and I have to say I what a great recommendation. After my initial inquiry, Nick came by the next day, took the measurements and with 24 hours I had an estimate. After I finalized my material color selection I had the work scheduled. The day of the work the crew arrived one half hour EARLY (when does ANY contractor show up early?). The three man crew led by Steve with Ronnie and Keith worked with great diligence, and were done by 4pm. The overall finish of my new flooring is excellent, the amount of custom cutting for molding and transitions due to the layout of my home was first class, the place was cleaned up with no debris, the whole thing was just great. In all my years as a home owner, I've never seen anything like. I have additional flooring work to complete, and no doubt I'm having Dominion come back to do it. Highly recommend.

Awesome service and great carpets!…read more I was referred to Ms. Kathy Hacker by our realtor when I was looking for a house in Virginia Beach. She was very professional, very patient and helpful in getting what we want for our house. Mind you, we were at Texas when we were doing all the negotiations. Needless to say we got our carpet that we like and in our budget. The installers who came in are very professional and courteous. Got everything done in a day and cleaned up after themselves. I would have given them a 5 star, but during installation, they poked a hole in a closet door, I'm thinking the workers pushed the door all the way out that the door stopper pushed a hole in the door. One of the workers came by a few days later after I told Kathy what happened. The guy said he will come back to repair the door but never did. We had the carpet installed at the end of July, it is now November so I figured they are not coming back to repair it. That is why I waited to write my review. Overall, great job, carpet feels great, looks great. If it wasn't for the hole on my door, absolutely 5 stars worthy company.

If you're going to consider Empire, make them your last choice to view. The Empire Today Sales…read moreConsultant found multiple ways to express that my consultation was a waste of his time unless I was ready to buy immediately. To push The sale forward the consultant offered the option to make a deposit to hold the deal and he would give me additional time to decide. He offered that I could change the order within 5 business days, or if I needed to cancel, then I would be fully refunded within 5 business days. The consultant claimed that my previous work with the military justified the exception. He called a supervisor, "A.S.M. Karen", to approve the exception. On Day 4, I called the phone number the sales consultant gave me to change or cancel. I requested the cancellation and Empire's corporate office declined the refund. By policy, a customer only has 3 days to cancel. The Sales Consultants appear to be at liberty to generate orders by any means, even in opposition or violation of policy. There is no local office contact information, corporate does not route calls to local offices. The consultant advised that I tell his corporate office to read the "special instructions" approved by A.S.M. Karen, to which the corporate office has no documentation, notes, or special instructions related to this exception. Dr. Gaither, the sales consultant, took no accountability for being manipulative and misleading for a transaction. This experience revealed a series of issues: - Sales consultants appear able to generate orders using promises that contradict company policy/contracts - Corporate has no visibility or accountability for those promises - There is no local office contact, and corporate will not reach local offices directly, leaving customers with no path to resolve disputes.

Thinking about having 2nd Street install your hardwood floors? Highly recommend you look somewhere…read moreelse. We had hardwood flooring installed in our den and it was a nightmare from the get-go. Measurements were way off. Two extra boxes of flooring and ~40 feet of 1/4 round. When asked about what to do with the 2 boxes of flooring (that we paid for), was told "you can sell it on eBay". Really? Then there was the installation crew. No one spoke English so any questions I had resulted in blank stares. These were not W-2 employees but sub-contractors. This crew stained the 1/4 round us and it wasn't even close to matching the new flooring. And then there was the damage to the new flooring during installation. The large staple gun that was used to "nail" the flooring was placed dozens of times on the previously installed flooring leaving nail head size indentations across the entire floor. And then there was the "customer service". Made appointment with Ackerman (the owner?) to inspect the damage and he never showed up, he didn't call, text, or email that he was going to make it. During one of numerous calls, asked Jessica to have Ackerman call us. She emailed me that she couldn't get him to talk to us. But to be honest, full discloser: 2nd Street is giving us $40 for the 1/4 round. Bottom-line: we will never use 2nd Street again and will never recommend them to anyone.
