Cool spot and vibe inside. It's really chill, you order your drinks and food and it is brought out to you. I got the nachos and one of their brews. I personally don't like the way they cook their chicken-it was cooked and shredded on the nachos, and I've never had it that way. I also didn't care for the beer I tried. 4.5 stars is on the button for this joint. Finally got around to trying this place and it was as good as advertised. Unlike most of the new trendy places downtown, parking was a breeze. They have two private lots and plenty of street parking. Upon walking in, there is a sign setting forth the house rules where you learn about the communal seating style and the at-the-counter ordering system. I tried the pretzels, aracini, cuban and pork belly sandwich. The pretzels are top notch and highly addictive. My group ended up getting two orders. They are served with some sort of beer cheese and what I think to be Founders Centennial IPA mustard. The mustard is a perfect compliment to these delicious mothers. The aracini were will executed and are basically fancier versions of fried mac and cheese. The cuban was pretty, but a bit disappointing. The portion was way too small and I felt like the meat wasn't evenly distributed, so I didn't get all of the good stuff in one bite. However, the pork belly sandwich was spot on. The pork belly basically disintegrated in my mouth upon contact. Definitely the entree of our evening. Finally the beer. I tried the IPA, Sweetums, Mimi Bobek. All of them were damn delicious. All reminded me of something else, but demonstrated a level of finesse that impressed the shit out of me. Had a great Friday after work experience with friends. Beer ranges from $5-$7, all of them unique and home-brewed. They offer up to 2 beer taste tests,and make their own homemade soda. Loved the Fresh Cut (7%). We sat in communal picnic tables outside,and they brought a water bowl for my friend's dog. Food is good, and the service is excellent. Not bad. I dig the overall ambiance of this place. Nice outdoor deck to enjoy when the weather is favorable and a really cool railcar out front for decor. Also a nice selection of board games to enjoy while you sip on your beer. I tried a handful of their pale ales but was kind of underwhelmed with the overall hoppiness. Definitely more refreshing and smooth than anything else. I didn't get a chance to try any food on my visit, but the food that the couple next to us ordered looked pretty good. This brewery is a fun little place with picnic style seating and a small bar. You order everything from the bar, food and all, and then have a seat wherever youd like. This is the first beer-only place ive been to. No wine or cocktails. The bartender was very knowledgeable and offered me a sample of a beer mixed with raspberry puree, which was delicious! The food was good enough for a brewery. Nothing to write home about. It wouldve been a lot better if they had salt shakers on the table (or seasoned things during the preparation). Inside is pretty dark and gloomy. They have plenty of outdoor seating, though. I wish theyd close for a weekend and turn the brick wall, in between the two large windows, into a windowed garage door like the one in the back left corner. We decided to try this place out after seeing the outdoor patio. However, we did not get to sit outside because it was full but the inside is just as nice as the outside. With bench and communal seating, there is plenty of seating for everyone. They have good beers which I would definitely go back to try all the selections. The food was pretty good. We had thai chili chicharrone and seasonal arancini. Good sharables and tasty. There is plenty of parking on the street. Big fan of Batch! Great tasting beers, good food, and an outdoor patio?!...life is good and beer makes me happy as is Batch's motto, and printed on their hoodies. Batch has long communal picnic tables inside near their long bar. They also offer seating on their outdoor patio. There is no table service, and you order your beer and food at the bar and bring it to your table. The staff was very friendly, happy to answer any questions and we chatted and exchanged makeup tips while I waited for my flight, lol. All of their beers are listed on a large chalkboard and food menus are on clipboards on the wall. Their beer is great. The Handsome Stranger is a fave, a light refreshing fruity hibiscus saison, yum! The Petit Pamplemousse a peppery grapefruit saison is also a good choice. Marta Rita and BLBRTT are tasty sours. Rainbow blended colors is really good too. Blood in Orange Out is another favorite. Their beer slushies are amazing!!! Definitely order the Lemon Zrbtt Slushie! Nothing says summer like a raspberry gose lemonade beer slushie! Yum! So refreshing! Beers can be ordered as 4 oz, 10-16 oz, and also 40 oz to-go pours. They unfortunately don't offer growlers. We went for a growler once for a friend's growler party but the owner doesn't believe in growlers preserving the utmost freshness and quality of the beer. Their beer is delicious so no complaints. Most beers are around $5-$8, a flight is probably around $10-$15 depending on which beers you order. Flights come with five beers. Their food is also pretty good. They offer arancini, tacos, gumbo, pretzels, nachos, bahn mi, Cuban sandwiches and more. I had the tacos, which were very good. You have the choice of flour or corn tortillas, and shrimp or fish either fried or grilled and you can mix and match these options between your two tacos. I had the corn tortillas with fried fish and grilled shrimp both served with mango salsa, cabbage slaw, and chipotle cream and served with chips. Both tacos were good but the fried fish was definitely my fave. Wish the tacos had been served with guacamole but I believe you can order guacamole for a little extra. A friend of mine got the gumbo and it looked delicious. The atmosphere is pretty cool here too. I love their outdo patio in the Summer and the indoor area is nice too. The last time we came, they were playing an old black and white horror movie from the 1950s on a projector. Overall, very cool place. Love their beer and I'll definitely be back soon. read more

I have loved Batch's beer and food for a long time, and there's no better spot in Detroit to grab a casual drink and some food with a small group. But the way they have handled themselves over the last year puts them so far above and beyond being "just" a great taproom with excellent beer, food, and service. Shortly after the shutdown, they totally revamped their space and business model to prioritize keeping their staff and community safe, while also providing support for struggling members of Detroit's food & beverage industry. They expanded their outdoor seating area in a way that feels both inviting and comfortable. Most nights, they let local chefs pop up and serve their own food. They've hosted "pay what you can" meals for out-of-work industry folks. And they have set a great example for how to make guests feel safe and taken care of, without jeopardizing the health and safety of the staff or community. 11/10 would recommend. read more

Batch is my favorite brewery in Detroit! The beers are fantastic with a lot of variety and the staff is always friendly. They also have beer slushees! The current menu is limited but still delicious. They are doing the most during these Covid times, expanding the space with a 4 season patio and even shutting down with the potential of spreading Covid (which they did not have to). A lot of outdoor seating that is properly spaced and all employees where a mask. Would highly recommend this as a Detroit stop. read more

Got here just after opening on a Saturday. We heard good things and came to check it out. We opted to sit at the bar after being informed that it was full service. Good thing we did as it got packed and you had to step up to get orders. They have a deck that will be great in the summer and lots of seating inside. Service was friendly. Food is not quick and seems made to order. (It's good- but not sure what you should get if you are starving.) Flights and tastes available by type (prices vary). Wide array of beers from IPAs, kolsch, Pilsner, weissen, sours. I particularly enjoyed the blood orange and Berliner Weiss (minus extra juice that was supposed to make it "moscato-ey".) For food we opted to try pretzels, fried risotto balls (seasonal- asparagus and veg), and the seasonal pasty (just made that day!!!) the pasty was Mediterranean with a tasty Tzatziki sauce. Pretzels made to order and flaky and light. The cheese was pretty mild and in this case I preferred the mustard. Risotto balls very tasty, a bit tastier with hot sauce minus the pesto sauce. The pasty, you get two smaller ones and we shared. Lastly- tried the bread pudding dessert with a whiskey sauce and caramel corn. Very good, huge serving, couldn't finish! read more

My friends and I came here for an event. We started off with a drink, did our thing, and came back for a meal. I ordered the cider. It was ok but I don't know if I'd order it again. When we came back for lunch, I thought I had ordered brisket but got a hot dog. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I had hoped for. My friends got the Bavarian pretzel and it was amazing, very soft and fresh. Another friend got the chorizo nachos and the German fries. The fries were ok, more like slices of baked potatoes rather than actual fries. I didn't taste the nachos, but my friend said they were very greasy. The thing that impressed me most was the staff. The guy behind the bar clearly knew the drinks on tap and helped me make a selection. The kitchen actually lost my friend's order and as soon as they realized the mistake, they started on it and said it would be on the house. Wanted to try some Pastys while we were in Michigan. Was told that they are mainly a upper peninsula item, but there were a few places in Detroit that makes them. Batch Brewing was one of them, so we paid them a visit. We got there and ordered 2 orders of Pastys, an order of Chorizo nachos, and 2 of their own craft beers. The nachos were very good but SUPER spicy. We like a little heat but weren't expecting that much. They were still tasty and edible, but wow. The Pastys were surprisingly good. I only use the word surprisingly because 1) Ive never tried them before 2) They had venison meat in them which I also had never tried. The dough/pastry was cooked very well. Had a nice crust with a perfect chew to it. The meat inside was very well seasoned and had a surprisingly sweet taste. They were very delicious. I hope to find a place here in Columbus Ohio that makes them also. The beers were also very good. I ordered what I consider the best name for a beer ive ever seen..... Harvest Ale Of Sorrow! We love Batch Brewery and have been going for a few years (post Mudgie's lobster roll lunch and post Life Remodeled volunteering for last few years). I'm going to admit the first time I saw beer slushie I thought it sounded terrible but now I am a raving fan (as are all of my friends that I recommend them to). We visited this year and were so happy that they provided an outdoor, socially distanced experience for our group of LR volunteers/friends. I was so happy to be able to sit outside, have a beer and good food-during these times the smallest things seem so big and I appreciate Batch adapting so we can continue to enjoy. read more

Don't come here if you're hungry. We went around dinner time only to come to find out they ran out of ALL their food menu items, expect pretzels. Probably eat before coming here, don't get your hopes up to try whatever the chef is known for because they will have little to none. I mean there are other reviews on how they run out of food, don't they think they would do something about this by now? Also, community seating & arcade games in another room with leftover plates of the last party who was there. Only come here if you want a beer or two quickly and yell across one another. Wow, what an awesome spot. I was making the best of a bad situation and had to spend the day in the city, so I thought I would get some work done at a brewery. My wife looked this place up and told me to come here. She is rarely, if ever, wrong when making these decisions. So I went, and I loved, and I will definitely be back this summer. The staff was great, and let me know that the patio is dog friendly (expect to see them soon!) They have just about every type of beer you could want, which is great if coming with a crowd. I went with the Red IPA. It went down like water, it was that good. For a light snack I had some of their chorizo dip. I love chorizo dip, however is hard to find a good one outside of your typical Mexican restaurant. This was great. Lots of chorizo, lots of cheese, all around delicious. The inside has a heavy metal type feel, which I really enjoyed, and lots of seating with board games galore to play. I told my wife, and my friend downriver, about this place. I am allergic to beer. So, I avoid breweries. Batch is the exception because they have an awesome welcoming vibe and great outdoor space. I've been for food pop-ups, fundraisers, and casual hangouts. My partner and I threw his 40th birthday party at Batch and ordered food. It was super easy, yummy and they allow doggos - which was amazing. Batch is by far my favorite brewery in Detroit. The past few times I have visited Batch, a few beers have remained on the board, but most of the board has been something new and unique. My favorite that has been on tap every time I have been was Second to Last Word. As you can tell from some of the other reviews, Batch generally has a few excellent sours on tap. Generally when I visit, I get a sampler of 4 different brews, usually 4 new brews each time. The food served at Batch is also amazing. We usually order the nachos and the kitchen is quick to get the food out to you. The most recent visit to Batch I tried the beer slushy. The slushy was a bit hoppier and not as beery as I would have expected, but was amazingly refreshing on a hot summer day. Batch has a fairly large patio for outdoor seating as well as a spacious space for seating inside the brewery. Unfortunately Batch does not fill growlers or have a crowler machine for you to take a nice told brew with you from the tap. The only option for to-go beer is the few bottles they have behind the bar. Last time I visited Batch, they were completely out of bottles to go. A bit of a bummer coming from out of town as I expected to take a bottle or two back to Denver with me. There is also a box car on the side of the brewery, which I believe is for additional seating but the boxcar has been closed every time I have been in Batch. read more

The BEST thing about this place (besides the obvious fantastic beer) is the Cubano sandwich. It is the magical unicorn of a sandwich and will have you feeling the hot breeze of being on the beach in Cuba (or at least Miami) coupled with a soft hint of cigar smoke and rum in the air, while watching Hemingway write The old man and the sea. My favorite sandwich in metro detroit. But much like trying in vain to catch a snipe on a camping trip, good luck in your lesson in futility.
