It had snowed that particular week, so not sure if it was quiet because of that, because there was only one other customer in the restaurant. The place is quite plain and noticeably sparse. I shared a Bateeni Sampler with a co-worker. My thoughts - Hummus and Babaghanouj were quite good. - Falafel had a lot more sesame than I normally see, which I liked - Tabbouleh was very fresh - Grape leaves and cabbage salad was OK Despite being very quiet, the food took a long time to prepare. I would say it probably took 15-20 minutes, which seemed very long. Server was nice enough, but there was definitely some miscommunication between the front and back because we ordered a few items to go too, so we waited around 5-10 minutes to find out what we wanted wasn't available. There was some difficulties with refunding what we prepaid, so we ended up taking other food as a substitute. Overall, food was fine, but service had a lot of room for improvement. read more

Dined at Bateeni for lunch and it did not disappoint. We started with the bateeni sampler and the grape leaves were the best we've had. The rest of the sampler was also divine. My husband had the chicken kabob plate and I had the lamb gyro - both of which were phenomenal. The pistachio baklava was also great. This is a hole in the wall but definitely authentically delicious! Everything is homemade. The chicken dish didn't taste as fresh as I would've liked, but im was very impressed by the freshness of the falafel. Probably the best I've ever had. I had the chicken shawarma and it was delish. I was kinda sad that the hummus was plain with no other flavor options and the pita bread was cold. The salad was great. The baklava was ok, overly syrupy/sweet and the coconut pineapple cake was not to my liking, it was moist like a tres leches cake. The lemonade tasted like it was from a plastic jug (I ordered without mint.) The clerk was super courteous and she allowed me to replace it. The cafe is clean and spacious with a nice piano there. The place is uniquely decorated with colorful paintings and furniture that create a very bright atmosphere. There's also lots of windows and natural light and pretty music playing in the background. The place feels clean and open. The atmosphere is very nice Bathroom was not too clean when I went to wash my hands. I would've been sad if I'd had to use it. Wait time was surprisingly long (and my table was the only one in the restaurant) but it's probably not normally that slow because our waiter apologized for it a lot. The food was great! They have rice plates, sandwiches, and more. I had the gyro plate entree with falafel and baba ghabouj as sides and I loved it. I personally would recommend hummus over the baba ghabouj though. Sorry to my friend's tayta (sp?) before that she made the best everything. But wow, the flavors were so intense and rich. I was complimenting them and got to meet Omar, he explained that they ship all their spices whole from Bethlehem. Everything made sense from there, I also got a great pro tip to use whole spices. We enjoyed everything we had. The bread was so freshly made it was just perfect. The limeade is made fresh with real limes and mint. The food is real, your stomach will thank you. I think this is a family run business as they had the cutest kids running around on the weekend when we were there. Everyone was so friendly, and the regulars let me know that they would eat there almost everyday. Love their food but the salads are extremely inconsistent- sometimes there's twice as much of one ingredient and none of another... I've ordered six times and every single time it's like a completely different salad. Only once was it made as described on the menu. I don't usually like Mediterranean dishes but when I had their food it changed my life. My friend had a party and hosted bateeni. I thought they would just deliver the food but instead they brought their grill with them and cooked it fresh! It was super delicious. They had everything from hummus, chicken, lamb, to falafel, baklava and Knafa. I didn't know where this place was so when I found out I decided to check out the actual restaurant. I convinced my other friend who was a super picky eater. She was hesitant but caved in. She ordered the chicken shawarma plate and had forgotten to put the sauce on the side. She loved it! And if you knew how picky she was then you would know that meant the food was good. I got the gyro sandwich and substituted the fries for tornado fries. I personally don't eat a lot however if you do then you'll like it here cause the portions are pretty big. On top of that their cups are really nice. It's a fancy copper cup. I had past by this restaurant on several occasions since it's in an assuming strip mall of sorts, but regretted not coming in sooner after partaking in their authentic Mediterranean fare which was extremely flavorful and fresh! We tried their gyro, Jerusalem burger, Mediterranean salad, and baklava while eating in the other day, and were extremely happy with all their dishes as well as the attentive and efficient service we received while eating in! Our server was very friendly, and did a wonderful job of explaining what all the dishes were since we were novices to the Mediterranean culinary world that we sadly had been missing out on up to this point! We left extremely pleased with all we saw and partook in, and are so very grateful to all you wonderful yelpers out there who took the time to write about this eatery! Edit: I'm saddened I have to remove a star for service, but yesterday I went to eat lunch and while I was seated and had my order taken right away, it took 10 minutes before I had to remind waitress to bring my water, and another 10 minutes to receive it. After I had waited half an hour without my food I told the waitress I needed to have it to go as I had a meeting soon. She came back a few minutes later, not remembering what I had ordered, and then told me my order was never put into the system. So I sat there for 35 minutes for absolutely no reason and went to my meeting starving. I really like the food here, but that's about as bad a service experience as one can get. If I go again and the service is at normal levels, I'll consider it a hiccup and move it back to a 5 star rating. If I go again and get that kind of service, well that will be my last visit for sure. Bateeni is the real deal, especially compared to its local Greenville competitor, downtown's Marathon. Clean, well-located on Arlington near K&W and Firehouse Subs, and incredibly reasonably priced, Bateeni has never disappointed. Whether you are ordering a gyro, grape leaves, babaganoush, or any other combination, you will be pleased. The atmosphere may be a little stale, but you won't notice as you scarf down your entree. Recommendation: Even their Mediterranean half-side salad is too much to eat in one sitting, and I'm a 6'2" overweight guy. Go here! You will not regret it, especially for lunch. read more

Service is amazing! I got a take out order, to remind me of home. The fattoush was not all that (my nana meanmas is better) not as tasty, was missing something and the pita crisps were thick. Just not as good as Dearborn Michigan has to offer. The takeout of chicken kabob was great, but I was way in the mood for some fattoush. OMG this place is outstanding!!! I came here after a friend told me how good the food was. I'd passed by it before and made a mental note to try it so when she brought it up today, I had an "Ohhhh yeeaahhh" moment and put it in my mental roladex. I just didn't think I'd be unfiling it so soon. I walked in and the young man at the counter took my order and told me it would be ready in about 10 minutes and sure enough, it was. I ordered the falafel sandwich with fries. It was ready within 10 minutes as promised. I waited WAYYYY too long to eat dinner but I don't think this meal was good just because I was hungry. It was REALLY good. The wrap wasn't traditional pita but rather a flatter flatbread. Almost like a tortilla. The sandwich was HUGE and grilled on the outside. Every bite from first to last was chocked full of falafel, tomato, pickle and hummus. The fries were perfectly fried and sprinkled with a delicious seasoning. Everything was served nice and hot.
