A Wink of Yellow was founded by entrepreneur Sheila Walker. Her focus was a convergence of style, and creativity. Based in Austin, Texas, the brand offers a wide array of jewelry, accessories, home décor, and gifts. I got to meet Sheila and she said the name is inspired by her lifelong love of the color yellow and a mindset. A Wink of Yellow could mean to meet someone briefly or experience something in life in a wink. Her collections are designed to emit warmth, optimism, and individuality. The brand strikes a balance between trendy and classic for everyday wear or special occasions. Examples include wristbands, candles, boots (leather and sustainable materials), purses (made from agave and cactus), and jewelry (gold plated). Products are sourced from around the world with an emphasis on one or more values such as women-owned, handmade, made-to-order, or eco-friendly. Styles from A Wink of Yellow have been featured in Elle Magazine, Harper's Bazaar, Tribeza, and Austin Woman Magazine, highlighting its fashion-worthy credibility. She also supplies jewelry to local boutiques and Westlake High School. Prices range from $40-$200 per item. The brand's website and pop-up shops offer a thoughtful shopping experience such as a unique necklace, a thoughtful hostess gift, or a purse with a pop of color. A Wink of Yellow will be hosted at A Christmas Affair.

The garden center is always a highlight, and being an Ace Hardware means they somehow have every random item you didn't even know you needed. The sale table is dangerously good... I always end up grabbing something for "next year." The staff are consistently helpful without being pushy, which makes the whole experience easy and enjoyable. And yeah--the treats at the front are a nice bonus. Honestly, just a great, feel-good spot to get lost in for a bit. Hard not to walk out with the one thing you needed...so be warned!!

But, that's ok because they had a ton of other stuff I didn't know I needed and bought. Think hardware store meets Bed, Bath, & Beyond (remember that place?). Gadgets as far as the eye can see. Tools as far as the eye can see. It's really a one-stop shop for household repairs, DIY, decorating, etc. Get your drywall, paint, brushes, and new home accessories all at once. I just really dig the old schooly vibes of this shop. The ambiance is totally throwing it out there. I think the pricing is fair and I found the service to be pleasant and informative.
