Since March, I have been working with Ethan, who has become one of my favorite people I've met. He's well versed in his products, listens to what I'm looking for, and encourages me to branch out. I recently visited the Domain Diptyque store and had such a wonderful shopping experience thanks to Raina. From the moment my friend Daniel and I walked in we were greeted with a bright smile that made us feel welcomed. Raina's extensive knowledge of the fragrances was truly impressive. The girl genuinely knows her stuff. She took the time to explain any questions we had about particular notes from the different fragrances, explained the new Les Essence collection and found candles that were deemed similar since that specific line doesn't carry candles. Shopping in a luxurious setting can sometimes be intimidating based off the vibe the store gives but Raina's friendly and approachable demeanor definitely changed that for us. Raina was so great! RUDEST and WORST shopping experience I've Had EVER. Period.  We made a second loop after lunch on a girls outing and dealt with horrendous parking with a baby to visit this shop. I've only purchased online and at Neimans previously. I wanted to smell all the things and leave, spending way too much.  The very, very first thing when walking in we were greeted with was being told we couldn't touch anything. We had to ask their effing. PERMISSION. I'm sorry, huh? I've been to Dior, Channel, Armani, Chloe, HERMES, never have I ever been told not to touch anything in my ADULT life except for at the Louvre. My first instinct was to ignore this unbelievably over the top snobbery from the sales associate. Working in retail is a powerless position, I get it, and this person was taking every hurt and disrespect he's ever had and turning it into passive aggressiveness at every possible interaction.  My sister and I played along and tried to let this guy help us as he stood over all the candles like a gatekeeper. But he just presented wall after wall. When asked for suggestions he gave none, when told what we like he offered more snobbery.  I'm not sure what he thought there was to be snobbish about. He obviously was the opposite of helpful, he didn't look or dress professionally for a luxury brand, he seemed to know nothing about the products, and was beyond rude.  Do I need to state the obvious that this store was created for brand awareness and discovery, and it's known for candles/perfume? So just looking at the products in the packaging isn't really doing the brand any favors.  We literally smelled one candle which I already had at home, then super quickly were over the experience as he waxed on being as nondescript as possible about candle profiles. Horrible candles and customer service. I purchased a $86 candle over 2 weeks ago...still haven't heard anything from management or even corporate. Let's start off with the fact that Im a huge candle connoisseur, and this is by far the worst candle I have ever purchased. All of the sales associates are knowledgeable about their products and scents and are super helpful when you're dealing with a self proclaimed candleossieur. I have my all time favorites; Foincoupe, Tuberose, Amber, 34 and Vanille, but always love when they help me think outside of the box and try new scents I might not have thought of before for the best duel burns. We walked into the Diptyque Austin store yesterday and I was just a little nervous walking in at first because I also had my 12yr old and 10yr old daughters with me. Wasn't sure how'd an employee would react with two kiddos in a place full of glass and lots of yummy smells to temp them to try. But I was immediately put to ease by a very welcoming hello and bright smile from Sandra. I said I was just there to introduce my husband to some perfumes and was planning on a future Christmas gift. Sandra immediately offered to help us and asked which perfume I wanted to try first. She was even welcoming to my young daughters showing them a neat trick they do with the candles which is to take the entire wax out of the candles and let them smell inside the glass candle holder. My daughters enjoyed guessing all the different scents of cinnamon, pine, orange, etc. Needless to say my husband was very impressed with the customer service he told me to buy any size perfume I want now; no need to wait for Christmas. Along with my purchase Sandra advised they always give a sample to try before opening the perfume box. Which is really nice since scents do change on a persons body. I'll use my sample of Philosykos for a week before opening my box which was beautifully wrapped like a Christmas gift by Sandra. read more

These candles are the best candles ever. They're kind of pricey but they're worth it. They last forever and smell amazing. The perfume is really nice as well. My favorite scent is Iris and it is only sold in this boutique at the Domain so we make a couple of trips a year here to stock up. The staff is so friendly and always have little free gifts for my son who also happens to love Diptyque candles. He has attended a couple of their classes on how the different scents are made and many of their private parties they throw at the store after hours. Highly recommend you at least try one of these candles in your homes. read more

I have been a loyal customer to the brand for years, ever since I bought my first Bais candle at Nordstrom for my 25th birthday. Needless to say, I am very familiar with the quality, craftsmanship, and art the house is known for. First of all, I live in the east side of Austin, so traveling to Diptyque requires planning and effort. The boutique is located right smack in the middle of The Domain, unless you're lucky and find parking in the front, you'll be using the garage nearby. The store itself is small, but filled with precious EDTs, EDPs, candles, and scent curios; such luxury. With that said, my biggest complaint is about the customer service. CGarza, who I'm assuming has been there the longest (despite the high amount of employee turnover at the store) gives off major bad vibes. She has helped me several times, pretends not to know who I am, or to at least seen me before. I never get that "French" customer experience, and in result I usually spend a lot less than I can. I honestly dread having her attend to me. For my most recent experience, I went in after my birthday. I purchased $135 on two candles. My information is in your data base and you did not offer me my gratis bday gift, ask if I wanted samples of anything, or seal my bag properly. My partner had to remind you TO DO ALL OF THIS. Maybe this attitude is trickling down from higher management? Regardless, I'll be shopping at Nordstrom for Diptyque. read more

I dropped in as a suggestion from Nordstrom actually, since I wanted to branch out from my scent safe zone of Santal 33. I legit thought this company only sold 8 million dollar candles, but as it turns out there's actually a shrine of scents that you can dive into. The two staff that were working were so kind (I forget their names, which makes me feel like a jack ass) and literally walked me through each and every fragrance as I smelled, squinted, made faces, and guessed everything that could be in each scent that was actually never in any of the actual scents. I walked out with two different sprays on my wrists and two on my inner elbows, and four samples to determine which I wanted to branch out and try. I didn't get any dirty looks for sticking with samples (which is actually kind of normal/sad/disappointing that it's normal in most retail stores - especially for non-committal men to make a commitment on a new scent). I left and I'm not sure if I might be slightly crazy, but each of the four slowly changed in smell over the afternoon which added to my confusion as I tried to hone in on what would be best. I write this interview STILL not having decided because they all smell great, but I wanted to take the time to give a shout out to the excellent customer service that I experience even though I wasn't an immediate same day purchaser. Their patience definitely makes me want to come back in and maybe be slightly less "let me smell literally everything you have" about it, but narrow down to my signature scent for the next _____ amount of time.
