I called yesterday to schedule a diagnostic for a parasitic battery draw, as per the nationwide class action lawsuit, which lists the 2015-2020 Foresters as potentially having the issue. I was told by the service manager with great hostility that only the Outbacks had that issue. The lawsuit lists these models: "There are an estimated 2.8 million vehicles included, specifically: MY 2015-2020 Outback MY 2015-2020 Forester MY 2015-2020 Legacy MY 2015-2020 WRX MY 2019-2020 Ascent" So I wonder why he would tell me that? I went elsewhere, I hope you can too! When I took my car there 2 years ago as required by Subaru for a recall fix on the AC, I was also met with rudeness and hostility. I live an hour outside Bath - I cannot practically take my car to Bath Subaru for service. They were very hostile as a result. The did do the fix, but they tried to tell me I got the time wrong and would have to make another appointment. I would never buy a car here, or even go for recall work again. Update 10/22/24 Charlie's Subaru in Augusta found and fixed the battery drain issue FOR FREE that the Bath Subaru service manager claimed didn't exist in the Foresters (my new battery died in 6 months). There are software updates that greatly reduces the drain, and a DCM fuse that can be removed if you don't care about bluetooth, or you can replace it or bypass it - but do something, it is part of the drain. Charlie's is kind, friendly, decent and honest - offered to replace my brake pads, but said they understand we can get it done cheaper elsewhere. We decided to get them replaced because the car was already there, just $250 more. After all they cheerfully did for us, we didn't mind. read more

Was up in Maine recently on summer vacation when all the lights on my Outback came on, we stopped in at Bath Suburu to see if they could help, they were" slammed" as the technician told us! They did refer us to O'Reilly auto parts to get a free diagnostic code, which was helpful! Called again the next day to see if there were any canceled appts there wasn't and told them the code we had gotten and what was likely wrong, they assured us it would be ok to drive the car 6 hours back home. We also tried another Suburu dealer some 40 mins away in South Portland, also had no appts till the end of the month We appreciate what Bath Suburu did to help but it's Vacationland in Maine can't you have appts for emergency travelers??? Back home our huge Suburu dealer helped us the next day, They definitely need more Suburu dealers in Maine especially in the summer! read more

I had an incredibly negative experience with the owner and I cannot recommend this place. While I was waiting for my vehicle to be serviced and the waiting room was full, so I sat at a table on the EMPTY sales floor. A man came up and told me to move, and I said there's no seats in the waiting room and if someone needs to sign paperwork, I'm happy to move. He continued to harass me about moving, even after I repeatedly asked him to leave me alone. He later identified himself as the owner. He used threatening language like, "You need to learn a lesson about respect" and "I'm going to teach you a lesson." He also said that if you use their service department, you're not considered a customer. So something to consider. Others on the staff apologized for his behavior, but its absolutely ridiculous. read more

I was traveling on vacation in Maine from Connecticut and experienced an electrical issue with my 2013 Subaru Outback. I called Bath Subaru Service and they could not have been less interested or helpful. They offered no suggestion as to what I might try or what other service alternatives they could suggest. The attitude was, sorry you are out of luck and on your own. Good luck. That was completely unacceptable! I was recently cut off by a pickup truck doing an illegal U-turn on Route 1 in Wiscassett (burning rubber and the whole 9-yards). I noticed the Dealer plate on the truck, and kept driving until I saw him turn into the Bath Subaru parking lot. Then I called the dealership. The guy that answered said 'oh, yeah - my dad kind of drives a little crazy. I'll talk to him about it.' Yeah - I'm SURE you will...not! Since that's how the ownership sees fit to treats vehicles, I wouldn't trust this place for a second... and maybe Subaru needs reconsider the franchise deal. It was time for our 60,000 mile service. We would typically go to Evergreen Subaru, which tends to be convenient. However, a co-worker suggested I try a more rural location to save some money. The Evergreen price was a very large number (not outrageous in comparison, but a scary-high number either way.) I called Bath Subaru and was told that it was about $170 cheaper. I was surprised, but confirmed the miles, synthetic oil, and included spark plugs. I then waited for a good time to schedule. When that time came (about 2 weeks later), I scheduled our appointment. I again confirmed the mileage service (level 5), the oil, and sparkplugs, and was again given the same price, about $170 cheaper. Going to Bath involved an extra 1.5 hours of driving and my wife sitting in a waiting room for 3 hours, but we thought the savings was worth it. When my wife paid the bill, it was $117 higher than I was quoted. I called and spoke with service. The woman I worked with was reasonable, but couldn't vouch for incorrect information that I was given, as well as the service being completed and paid. I was upset by the difference in price, as the time and gas money wasn't worth the savings that I received. When I asked if anything could be done in the name of customer service, I was told that she would have to check with the owners. I later called back to apologize if I was worked up at the first call. She said she appreciated it, but there was no need. I would receive a call back when she had news. She called back and offered us a free service at our next mileage point. They would like to keep us as a customer, which I appreciated. While the experience didn't go exactly as planned, the vehicle does run well and I am pleased that they cared enough about me as a customer to try making things right. In other news, I'm told there is Wi-Fi in the waiting room and they keep pretty busy. read more

First of all, there was one very nice person in the service department, a woman and she has been cheerful and helpful every time I talk to her but that is where the positivity ends. Every time I call for help here the people I've spoken to have been rude and abrupt making me almost feel sorry for bothering them. This isn't right. If you call the medical clinic across the river I work, Midcoast Internal Medicine, you will be greeted with kindness and understanding and we will take time for you not treat you like a nuisance just because you are calling with a simple question. Because, guess what, That's my job! My job is to give the best care I can to my patients. Your job is to do that for your customers. I will never get another vehicle from this horrible place again. I called Bath Subaru to make an appointment to have the serpentine belt replaced. Since our Impreza is a 2020, and has only 18000 miles, it should be covered the warranty. First off, the customer representative asked me how I knew that belt needed replacing. I told him I had gone to have the oil changed at a local oil change service. Prompto in Brunswick, where they politley pointed out to me the problem with the serpentine belt and suggested I get it fixed or replaced soon. As I was going to Bill's Garage the next morning for the yearly inspection, I asked them if they could have a look at the serpentine belt and confirm what the mechanics at Prompto had told me. Bill's said yes, the belt was bad. So, I called Bath Subaru to get the work done. The customer service person at Bath Subaru berated me for having taken my car elsewhere for an oil change and or mechanical services! Anyway, I shrugged his rudeness off, and made the appointment. When I dropped the car off, I tried to confirm that we would not be charged for the work because my car's serpentine belt is still under warranty, The customer service representative was snarky, and said they couldn't assure me of that until they did the work. We decided immediately to cancel the service. No apology from Bath Subaru or questions asked about how they could accomodate us. We took the car to Charlies in Augusta for the service. They assured us that there would be no charge, did the work, were courteous, friendly, had free coffee in a very comfortable lounge, and provided free car wash after the service. Bath Subaru does none of that. I won't ever go back to Bath Subaru and certainly would not recommend them to anyone who wants to buy a Subaru! read more

I had my front and back brake pads and rotors replaced on my 2017 Subaru Outback in March 2020. I distinctly remember the garage supervisor I spoke to "sold me" on having them done there (with Subaru), since they will come with a lifetime warranty. I remember saying, wow- that IS worth the little bit of extra $$ over Midas or Jiffy Lube! And scheduled the service. I have since moved out of state and now, exactly 3 years later, I'm told my rear brakes are bad again. So I call Bath Subaru, where an uncaring woman answer the phone, and passes me off to the mechanic, with very few words ever spoken from her mouth, even though I asked her to look up my account to give me more information on my past service there. The mechanic comes on the line, acts like I'm crazy and wasting his time with my query. I ask him to look up my account, which he may, or may not, have actually done, and reiterates what he has already told me... no brake job comes with a lifetime warranty- only a limited 1 year warranty. Ooook... well, my fault for not getting it in writing!! So what am I remembering? Maybe just the rotors have a lifetime warranty? He replies, "I don't know". The interaction was so COLD!! So extremely unfriendly and impersonal! I regret every penny I have spent at this establishment for services and will never go back here again- even if I one day move back home. It was an important question because you need to be sealed if your wheels are corroded. I think they would've noticed my wheels were corroded when they mounted the tires. She said you can't come in complaining about tires you've got in November. Told her this was our fourth time coming in about the tires and obviously were upset and I wanted them to solve the problem. So me and my husband walked out the door and I said wow these people have an attitude to my husband and I went over to get in his car she followed me outside with my keys very aggressively as the service manager pressed his face against the glass to see what was going on. She told me that they did not want to work on my car. I thought she was the owner I thought it was her job to have her employees do work but apparently at this establishment the employees choose Whether they like the customer or not as a determining factor if they decide to work on the car. I wonder if these people at this establishment just hate disabled veterans. I'm not sure what their issue is with veterans. As she's dangling my keys telling me the guys don't really wanna work on my car I asked her if she went to Dunkin' Donuts for days in a row and her order was wrong would she upset. Her response and inability to understand an analogy was I don't drink coffee. You can't get through to this woman no matter what you say to her. I showed her my tires and said they keep going low I have to carry with me a pump to pump them up. She said well you got the tires in November and I told her that she didn't know how many miles I drove on the tires. I bought a used car from this Subaru with the full amount up front. Usually most dealers are thrilled to hear this. These guys wouldn't take our check and demanded a wire transfer be done instead like some sort of shady deal. Then when I went to pick up the car. The 4 way flashers didn't work and there was an awful screech from the back wheels whenever the car goes at cruising speed. I went to get both things fixed a few days later. Waited in their waiting room for over an hour to get it fixed. They fixed the lights. But didn't fix the brakes. So now here I sit again a few days later. Now almost two hours in the waiting room. I can see my car out in the parking lot either done, or have up on I haven't figured it out yet because they haven't called me up to let me go. Awful awful awful experience. For $943.93, I have no confidence in the quality of my 60,000 mile service, and I was chastised and disrespected by the manager and female owner of the dealership for two oversights their technician made on my service. This is my fifth Subaru. They disregarded me, spoke to my husband, who is not the owner or driver of the car, and chastised me for questioning them and for asking for an apology for their rude behavior. Don't think a woman owner will treat you any better then men at this car dealership. She was worse than her service manager, Frank Noriega. I have never had such a horrible customer service experience anywhere in my lifetime. This is extremely disturbing when, in fact, a little common courtesy and humble admission of an oversight would have sent me off forgiving a missed bad bulb and a poor judgement call on not calling about a malfunctioning latch. I received very bad service at Bath Subaru. After traveling two hours for an appointment, I was told they could not see me that day. When I arrived they said they had "moved on." No understand of my needs; no attempt to accommodate me. I was told that I was late like I was a disobedient child. When I said that this was bad service and that I wouldn't be back the owner castigated me for my behavior. They acted like they didn't need or want my business. Do yourself a favor, drive to Bangor, Auburn or Portland, where they want to service cars. I own three Subarus, and I wouldn't use them if I was broken down in front of there dealership. read more

Both my sister and I took our cars here for service. I had my front axels replaced because I had torn CV boots and my sister's car had something wrong in the engine. They fixed my sister's car with a non-Subaru part, which unsurprisingly didn't work and caused it to break down again. Although they did repair it successfully the second time for free, they refused to pay for the towing required to get it there. As they replaced my axel they tore the seal around the differential. They refused to pay for it when I got a competent mechanic to fix it. Since they caused more damage than they fixed, two out of three times they did repairs for us, I would not recommend this dealership. read more

I would say my experience amounted to fraud on their end. I was scheduled for a level 4 service that included an oil change and some bulb changes. Two weeks later my oil light came on, after stopping at another dealership it was discovered my oil wasn't change, light bulbs were not changed and almost half the scheduled maintenance was not done either. Our 2006 Impreza airbag and other recall repairs went fine we think-- and we hope that those are properly done. The email to confirm our appointment did NOT mention the "no pets in our loaner cars" policy so that meant an extra round trip to drop the 17-pound dog back at home. And can we talk about the loaner car? It needed a valve job and wouldn't have sold us on a new Subaru for sure. Furthermore, they could not add in the needed tire tread, emissions, lights, and mirror inspection Maine requires annually when they realized we were close to expiration (nor did they call to ask if we would happily have done that as part of the safety/operations inspection we asked them to do on the clock). So, we'll have to make another appointment-- NOT THERE!-- and without a loaner, to have this simple inspection done. But we still love our Subarus! When did dealers become the bad guys? read more

I have elderly parents that had service scheduled for their Subaru on a Thursday morning with a predicted ice storm. Rather than cancel the service I rearranged my schedule to get the car to the dealer on Tuesday at 3;30. When I dropped it off I was told "we don't like cars dropped off this early because its inconvenient for us to move them". I explained that my parents are 80 and 96 years old and unable to drive in poor weather conditions and that I had brought it early so they would not have to cancel. They continued to complain extensively and I told them to forget it and cancel the whole thing. My father has Alzheimers, he cannot be left alone and it is difficult to for them to keep up with apts. We live in Maine folks, there are storms. I have owned 10 cars all of which have at times been dropped off early for service at others dealers with never an issue. I then called Charlies Subaru and was assured that dropping a car off a day or 2 early would not be an issue and was I aware of another recall on the vehicle that had never been mentioned at Bath. Terrible customer service, lack of compassion and with other options around I would never purchase a car from them. Suddenly yesterday, the air conditioning ceased to work in 90+ degree temperatures. We called Bath Subaru to schedule service. The incredibly rude woman who answered the phone said the next appointment would be about two weeks away. I was appalled when she told me to go somewhere else. I called our sales person (Drummond). He was supposed to call us this morning. He did not call. They have just built a new facility but, apparently, they no longer need to sell or lease cars. They did not even look into the problem I described when I brought my forester in for a diagnosis. The car sounds like driving over rumble strips, it is not an easy thing to overlook seeing as it vibrates the entire car while driving. I was quoted $110 on the phone for an hour of diagnostic time, the same as the service representative told me when I gave them my keys. I described a list of problems I am already aware of that I don't need them to waste time on, I only needed to know if my transmission is the root of the rumbling noise. Halfway through their hour a different service rep. with a last name of Frost approaches me in the waiting room to quote me a price for an air/fuel sensor replacement which I again explained was one of the things I already knew about and had no interest in them fixing. After describing to him the noise and saying that I need to know if the transmission is dying or not, he told me they would continue to look into it and went back behind the desk. When i picked up my bill for $384 for replacement of an air/fuel sensor I explained that I do not have that amount of money to my name, I never gave permission to do that job as I told them before I plan to do the work myself. After demanding that I gave them verbal permission to begin that job and swearing multiple times at me, Mike Frost snatched my keys off the counter and hung them up in back before storming away. They did not bat an eye when I told them I literally live out of my car and I need to grab belongings out if I'm to hitch hike somewhere else. One of the owners even told me to take out a loan to cover their incompetence and clear mistake!!! They ripped me off and called ME a scammer!!! If I could offer a less than one star review I would. I certainly would recommend going somewhere else even if it's twice the distance!!!! I hope reading this can save even one person from wasting money there. They pride themselves on being a family run business but they are heartless, manipulative and condescending to say the very least!! I felt threatened enough that I considered calling the police on Mike Frost.... I ended up having to spend my last dollar AND borrow money to pay the bill, only to have my check engine light turn back on within moments of leaving the parking lot... I am no closer to a diagnosis and there is a possibility they cleared the codes, didn't even swap the part out and I just paid for absolutely nothing! Angela, the service manager, is not the most pleasant person to work with, but she seems very busy so perhaps that is the issue. They sold me a used car for $11,000, which had been in a undisclosed front end accident with damages of $7,000. Their Autocheck system did not show the accident. Carfax showed the accident right away. Bath Subaru first said the accident didn't happen, then said the accident hadn't been so bad ($7000 damages?), then blamed it on the previous owner. They took no accountability for knowing about their cars before they sell them. Bruce (the owner) and Blake Mcelman (Bruce's to son) were very hard to work with. They tried to give me as little as possible, when this was very clearly their mistake. It took weeks of negotiation to reach an agreement (right down to the 30th day after purchase). They tried to not pay me back for my trade in, instead give it back to me. I had to remind them they own it, because they bought the trade in when I bought their car. Eventually, I returned the car and received my money back. That part they followed to the letter of the law, I got my refund and not one penny more for the complications and extra work this created for me (car shopping for 2 months, one to buy the Bath Subaru used car, one to find it's comparable replacement). They literally would do nothing to make me feel better about my dealings with them. This was a horrible experience, and I am so glad it's over. I would never recommend anyone buy a car or have it serviced at Bath Subaru. They cannot be trusted, if they don't know the history of their vehicles, they shouldn't put them up for sale. read more

I joined my mom to help her look for a used Subaru. The experience at Bath Subaru was distasteful to say the least. They wanted to go round and round and round with numbers and payments and messing around with trade in values, they kept wasting time trying to wear her out, thats really what was going on...they would never give a straight answer about anything. Keep in mind my mom was ready to buy-she found a used Forester she really liked. I had not chimed in at all but just sat patiently and witnessed a very manipulative process...I shook my head no to her and we left. I told them to give her a call with the honest answers if they want to sell the car before the end of the day....nothing. It didn't matter we went over to Lee Toyota and they were super friendly and straight with my mom...she was very happy with her experience there. read more

After driving only 1.6 miles home, the key would not turn in the ignition, and, therefore, the car could not be started. This was just 10 minutes after signing the retail installment sale contract. I called them immediately and was promised by the salesman and the sales manager that this would be fixed. Their own service manager duplicated this exact problem several times and made an appointment with Goodwin's Chevrolet to fix the problem. The owner refuses to pay to fix the problem. The key not turning in the ignition switch happens on a daily basis. Again, the owner refuses to do the right thing and honor his own salesman's and sales manager's statements made to me several times to fix the problem. read more

I brought my car there to get my defrost wires fixed. When I picked it up, they had just smeared the repair paint on the broken wires. I left my car with them for 4 days because I was out of town and they claimed that was the best job they could do. I looked online and saw no other pictures of repaired defrost wires looking like mine and I have NEVER seen a car with a patch job like this. It is clear they didn't use any guide to make it neat and just gave excuses about the length of the wire that needed repaired, the location of the patch job, etc. as to why it looks awful. Bath Subaru has the worst service department and customer service that I've ever experienced. I pre-paid for parts and was told they would notify when they arrived in 2-3 days. I never received a call and when I called them about it over a week later, Angela in the Service department was rude and unapologetic. I asked to speak to the owner about the mx-up I transferred to another Service department employee claiming to be the owner. When I finally spoke to the 'owner' Richard M, he was equally dismissive and rude and actually said "I dont know what you're problem is, did YOU try calling US?"....Well, of course I did, otherwise I never have known that the parts were in! Hey guys - - A simple apology for not calling and an attempt to schedule a quick repair would have gone a LONG way. Apparently, Bath Subaru doesnt care about selling another vehicles to me, or to anyone I tell about this dealership. read more
