Goodwin Volvo Review This is my 15th new/CPO car purchase. I have only had one other bad experience aside from this one. It pains me to write this because I hate writing bad reviews. And really, the buying experience wasn't bad; it's the post sale support that's horrible. I had been looking for a specific combination S60 for a couple months and finally found what I was looking for at this dealer. I live in VA, a 12 hour drive away, but this car was exactly what I was looking for. I called and asked some questions. The car was allegedly an executives car who drove it around the NE to show what a fully optioned S60 looks like. So the car had never been registered. It had about 4500 miles on it: perfect condition. I decided to buy it and flew up to drive it home. The buying process was mostly ok. Some hiccups due to my spouse not being present, but still going on the paperwork-but we worked through that. By lunchtime I was on the road for my 12 hour drive. Here's where the issues start. About 30 minutes after leaving, I'm finally on the interstate for a distance and notice the car has a vibration. I call the dealer and ask a couple other questions and mention the vibration. I was told it was likely flat spots due to the car sitting for 2 months. I continued driving and the vibration never went away. Once I got home I took it to my local dealer and they found a 'very' bent rim. Luckily I had purchased the extended tire and wheel protection package, so the wheel was replaced. But after that, the dealer found 3 tires with a road force balance rate of 48, 51, 53; the limit is 15. I had a bad set of tires. Volvo corporate said tires are not warrantied by Volvo. The aftermarket warranty company said they only covered road hazard damage. I called Goodwin's on February 13, a Thursday and the sales manager was supposed to call me back 'shortly'. Friday came and went-no call back. I called Monday and I was told he was on vacation for the week. Great. So I called again the 24th at 9am. He said he'd look into it and call me back shortly. At 1630 I called back and he sounded frustrated I bothered him again, but promised to call me back by close of business at 1800. No call. Tuesday at 1330, I again called. He was mad I bothered him. Then said they did their job and he has the paperwork showing they checked the tires. Said I must have damaged them on the drive home. I mentioned I called Pirelli tires and they said there's no way I could do that type of damage, it's a manufacturing defect. He said 'that's bullshit, they don't know what they're talking about.' Yes. The tire manufacturer has no idea what they're talking about--anyway. I asked for copies of the paperwork from the CPO inspection he said he had. Now he backtracks and says he doesn't have it from balancing the tires but the technician remembers doing it (4 months ago at this point). Not likely. He abruptly said they are not going to do anything to help, no need to keep calling. I was sold an essentially new car with 3 bad tires and a bent rim. Despite it being CPO'd and buying all the extended warranties and service contracts, no one will do anything about the bad tires. I've had the car 6 weeks and it's been in the shop 2 of those weeks between diagnostics and waiting on the rim and trying to get an answer on the tires. For a luxury brand, I'm shocked at the lack of post purchase support. I've had Volvos before and they were great. Seems like another company that doesn't care anymore. Sadly, this entire situation has given me a very bad taste in my mouth for this car and I get pissed every time I drive it. So I'll probably have to sell it for a loss. read more

ok, How do I start without being cheesy but yet, I will be soooo cheesy. I had the best, most awesome experience in purchasing our new Volvo XC40 today. Say "RALPH"...say "Debbie...double trouble" say "AWESOME TEAM".... Honestly, never had a better experience as I had at Goodwin Volvo. I did buy my cars on several different dealerships before and honestly did not have bad experience...but HEY....this was a SUPREME, EXCELLENT, OUT OF THIS WORLD experience. I always had outstanding interactions with the Service Crew and never had a bad vibe. I had my 20,000 mile visit today. Historically my relationship with Goodwin's has not been good. I never felt like a new Volvo owner, second class buyer and unimportant. My first Volvo was bought from Portland Volvo. Not going to lie, had issues with them as well. At any rate, I went in today expecting the worse. Pleasantly surprised. Marc Bernier met me quickly. Provided me with a Volvo newer than my own. Just was soooo pleasant, assisting me with personal issues. Work was done in a timely manner. Reasonable requests were made, it tire rotation. Did it. Long story short, Marc was great. He was personable and he held the door for me. A+++ thank you Marc and Happy Holidays! read more

What a ridiculous excuse for a luxury brand dealership. Had brought in my $70k r-design XC90 for its 20k service.. requested a loaner vehicle since I needed to run errands. I was directed to a line of ten year old cars? Huh? Yes, the loaner at this dealership is a ratty, disgusting, dirty 10 year old car with 195k miles on it. I have relationships with 2 other Volvo dealers, who always provide the latest models as loaners for their customers. The heap, which frankly reminded of a teenagers first ride, is Goodwin's idea of award winning service. This is Luxury folks... After going back and forth with the service manager, quickly decided that they were not going to do the service sit to the ratty state of this dealership and the unsafe loaner. Service was performed at Portland Volvo.. complete opposite from Goodwin's.. read more

Goodwin's Volvo has been In business in Topsham, Maine for as long as I can remember. They are very friendly and helpful. The sales staff is very friendly and not pushy. They are helpful and willing to work with potential buyers. The parts department is the jewel as far as I am concerned, George is very helpful. He is always willing to get the parts you need quickly. The service department also has a Wonderful reputation. The warranty is lifetime on all parts and labor performed in their shop. My car buying experience was good and quick. I didn't feel rushed Ralph did a good job explaining the 2020 Volvo S90 and allowing me time to choose between that and a 2020 S60. I did finance through Goodwin but refinanced through my credit union January 2022. I have reached out to the finance guy Dj several times in regards to my gap insurance refund due to my loan through them being paid off, he finally got back to be stating that the email I sent to his email address was received by another dealership of theirs ‍ but no explanation of why none of my phone calls were returned. He lets me know how much I'm receiving for a refund I reply asking when will it be sent out that was over a week ago no response. On top of that I received a pay off letter stating that the loan was paid off and that they had 30 days to refund me that was January 4, 2022. I love my Volvo's I've had several S40, xc60, xc90 and now S90 and Ralph was awesome he also helped me when I bought my xc60 at Portland Volvo.. I just wish my whole experience with this dealership was like my experience with Ralph. read more

I was looking for a very specific car after I totaled my Camry Hybrid, I wanted to replace it with another Camry Hybrid with all the same features. I live in central NH, and because I'm looking for a very specific car I was searching a 200 miles radius using various listings from Craigslist to iSeeCars to carfax listings. I found several matches 2-3 hours from my house that were within $750 and everything else was the same. I emailed Goodwin regarding their vehicle first because even though it was the most expensive of the three, it was the closest. Over the course of the day with a couple emails back and forth we finally connected on the phone. I told them about the other cars, that I wasn't looking to kill them in price just didn't want to pay more and the salesman asked me to hang on. He comes back and says they will match the lowest price car as an "out the door" price. I said OK but I was driving at that point and couldn't give the deposit right then. I called back within 30 minutes when I got home and I was told there was a mistake and that the car already had a deposit on it. This salesperson put me on hold to go talk to someone for the final price agreement, how could they not know there was a deposit on it at that point?? I was then asked if I wanted to put a "backup" deposit down. Excuse me? You "sold" the car on me after agreeing to a deal and now you want me to give you money in case that deal falls through? This business is either a shady business dealer or they are ineptly run and mismanaged to the point they don't know which cars are actually in their inventory. I personally feel it's more of the former than the latter so I won't be doing any business with them. read more

Two bad experiences! First I make an appointment to see 2 used vehicles. Turns out to be a total bait and switch! The first vehicle doesn't exist (even though the person on the phone answered many questions about it!), and the second one was already sold. AND, I had called the same day. Shady practices. At the second appointment, I was supposed to pick up a used car for an inspection that I wanted to buy, and AFTER I get there, they tell me the car has been sold!!! No one made any effort to call and tell me! There was a total disregard for my time and my business. I do not recommend this dealship, especially for women! read more

For the past sixteen years we have been customers of Goodwin Auto, both their sales and service departments. We have had only great experiences there in both areas. They must be great to the people who work there also because we have dealt with the same sales and service force for years and every encounter has been top notch. We love the service department and always feel that whatever we have done to our car is both necessary and always completed to our satisfaction. at a fair price. By the way, our Volvos have needed minimum repair as they are so well built. In fact we have sent many of our friends there to purchase a car because there is nothing more satisfying than driving a Volvo and nowhere we would rather go to buy one and get it serviced. In our many years of buying cars, the service department has always dictated where we purchase our cars. This is the case with Goodwin also. Goodwin Volvo could not be any better in all respects. The people always know who you are and go out of their way to help however they can. It may be sending you your cell you have left in a car or looking for your hearing aid in a loaner. They are always ready to reach out a helping hand and we trust them implicitly. Hats off to the great team at Goodwin Auto. They make owning a car a pleasure in every way. Just had our XC90 tune up, excellent customer service. Appreciate the extra touches...washed car and vacuumed a summers worth of sand out .
