Entering the pizzeria the atmosphere was very welcoming, even though we entered 4 minutes before closing Eden the owners son who runs the joint was very kind and told me and my family about the place a bit even willing to walk us to the patio in the back outside. Just got back from the pizzeria tonight. They had a wedding party so it was just another table and my family's table. It took two asks and 35 minutes later to get our appetizers which were just pizza crust knots. I really wanted to like this place given the reviews. Unfortunately, everything lacked salt and seasoning. The knots were just flour, water and yeast. The pizza was okay. The pastas were sadly bland and we didn't bring home the leftovers. To be clear, I'm very critical of pizza places, so that's why I don't give it five stars. But that doesn't mean the food wasn't good. The pizza was clearly made from scratch and I gotta say the crust (IMO the most important part of a pizza) was soft and delicious. Props to them for that. The cheesy focaccia bread was good as well, but nothing extraordinary that you couldn't find elsewhere. However, our salad was surprisingly very tasty as the dressing complemented the bits of meat and veggies very well. Highly recommend it. Overall I quite enjoyed my meal here. My only advice would maybe be to make the restaurant more obvious with maybe a bigger sign or some arrows or maybe relocate, because the place is most literally a hole in the wall of an alley. I was driving up to Michigan with my mom and this place piqued our interest online, but locating it was not very straightforward because of how tucked away it was. The cozy subterranean Italian vibe is great though; made me feel like I was in Italy. I see great potential in Battista's. read more

Where do I start? I'm surprised this place isn't jampacked with winds outside, especially for the location and ambience. It has a wine cellar. Vibe in the food is absolutely immaculate. They do weekly specials, and everything is fresh made to order. You can feel the heat of the oven's running through the place ! The drinks were spectacular! And also, there's a deli in the back. And incredible experience every time I go in there. Woah! This is a hidden gem! Such a cool and inviting environment. It was dark and on the quieter side. It felt like a speakeasy, it was below a beautiful building in the main square. finding this place off the square is rough But our real probs began at the Completely confusing entrance (I'm still confused now reflecting back on it). We were greeted kinda right away and invited to sit on the patio which I went for since it was nice out and I wasn't loving the basement-vibe of the dining room. Patio could be cute but was super shabby. I'm a margherita pizza addict and the sauce on this one could have been great! But the pizza was so mysteriously greasy it was barely edible, especially since the crust in the center of the pizza was raw dough (or maybe just grease saturated??). My husbands loaded-up pizza was ok but for sure wouldn't bring us back. Service was ok. Not sure how long this place has been open but Maybe they just need to work out the kinks and property. read more

One thing I love about Crown Point is how businesses have maintained the old architecture of the buildings, this restaurant was no exception. It took us a second to find this place, but were able to follow the sign to the basement of the building. How cool! This restaurant operated as though it was new. We were not immediately greeted and there was a to wait to get sat down. It felt as though staff was stressed. One of the dishes they brought out for bread/pizza was very greasy, as though it was not washed. Perhaps there's a staffing issue and I'd consider coming back on a week day. I was not a fan of the complimentary bread, but hubby didn't mind it. Pizza was good! The crust was warm and fresh just the way I like it! I do feel bad giving a 1 star to a small business but my expectations we high given the reviews. The pizzas were just ok, I felt like they lacked toppings and flavor. The crust was just ok, the middle was a bit under done and it took almost twice as long as they told me it would when I ordered. My favorite part of the pizza was the ricotta! Wouldn't have ever thought to do that but it did taste good and I may try that at home. My real issue came with the sausage and peppers app. It was so soft and mushy. To me Italian sausage should be firm after being cooked, it was just so mushy. The salad was also lack luster and over priced in my opinion. Went last night to check out the wood fire pizza. We almost gave up because there was no place to park. We went past the square parking and parked on the street in front of a house and walked back to it. It was 6:30 and there was only one other couple there. We think other people assumed the place was packed because of the parking situation. We were glad we didn't give up! First of all, they supply bread with olive oil and parmesan cheese. You can't go wrong with that start. We got 'The Ditka' and it was awesome! Drinks were good, everyone was friendly and overall we loved the place. Don't give up because of the parking. It's totally worth a bit of a walk to go here. We'll definitely be back. read more

Coming into this place I was a little confused. As a reviewer you have to be open-minded coming into new spots. This place is a cozy little corner. Very warm, welcoming, and great company. As a New Yorker I find it very hard to find thin crust pizza. And we always say it's in the water. With covid-19 we all have to remember everyone's menu is limited. We came here for a nice pie! Not the desert pie you guys think. A cheese margarita pie! We choose the classic and buffalo margarita pies. The crust was thin and crispy with goodness! Both fresh mozzarella and buffalo mozzarella were phenomenal. You definitely taste the difference in both pies. The decor I absolutely loved! It's very antique looking with a rustic feel. And bonus, they have a little Italian deli in the back. The pizza is phenomenal. The cluck cluck boom and the Italian stallion were amazing but I really just don't think you can go wrong. Hit or miss. The first pizzas we got (cheese and margarita) were delicious, thin and had the puffy crust. I could really taste the basil and evoo. Second time we got the smash pizzas and the crust was small and really chewy almost like it didn't rise. The margarita tasted like plain cheese pizza. This place has some really nice ambiance, and the pizza here is unique. The pizzas start at $13. Their equivalent of a cheese pizza is called the "Margharita". The use of Parmesean instead of Mozzarella for the cheese on this pizza is unique, as well as the use of basil leaves. It's a reallllly cozy place for a date, but it isn't open on Mondays or Tuesdays, and is only open after 4 pm. You will find it in the basement area of the "Hall of Justice" building to the left of the old jail. You can enter directly into the restaurant using the door located in the alley between these two buildings. read more

Outstanding Neapolitan style pizza- nobody in the area is doing pizza like this! The crust is the star of the show. Personally, I think the basic margarita set up (around $14) with just sauce, cheese, and basil is so good that I don't even end up ordering extra toppings- though you have that option too.
