Went here with six of us on a Friday. Cheese sticks came out quick and our server was good. The mushrooms on the one pizza just didn't do it for me not sure but they tasted a little off. Other than that the meal was good and worth it.

Large Detroit-style pizza with skimpy spinach and onions

I stopped by here yesterday early afternoon. I had never had the pizza here. Family members who live in CP say the pizza is "just OK" but my family here will eat just about anything, and it shows in their waistlines. I had to try this pizza out myself. I was here last year late at night with my dog and enjoyed an Alfredo pasta and liked it, so I know the kitchen staff is good. Carriage Court Pizza shares real estate with Crown Brewing. I like their beer, but will write a separate review for Crown Brewing. I will focus on the pizza here. I ordered a large (eight square slices) "Detroit-style pizza" with carmelized cheese with added spinach and onions . Never heard of a Detroit-style pizza. I thought Chicago-style ruled. I was not disappointed, though. What did disappoint me were the skimpy toppings. There were EIGHT spinach leaves on that pizza, ONE PER SLICE. EIGHT!!!! All that for $1.85? Add on another $1.85 for sliced onions, and we all know how inexpensive onions are. Sauce was also skimpy. Those eight slices turned into two meals for me. I did, however, like the airy crust. The edges were browned as per the "Detroit style," and the sauce was tasty and the crust melted into a buttery feel once in the mouth. I must admit I liked the crust very much. This is no Domino's or Gelsosomo's. I just wish there were more spinach and onions. I sat outside with my dog early afternoon during this meal. The sun was slowly shrouding the patio in shade. The new covid rules require every other table off-limits. Dogs are no longer permitted on the patio past 4pm. I forgot to ask why the change. Was it because of a chihuahua that had had too much of the "award-winning" Dude Porter and lunged and attacked an unsuspecting customer? Service was good, food was good (except for the skimpy toppings) and came out in a decent time, and the beer from Crown Brewing was good (as always). I would order a Detroit-style pizza again but not order any toppings. This was a solid four-star dining experience.

What a disappointing experience. I really wanted to like this place. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the cool evening air. I ordered a glass of "Special Force's " it was quite enjoyable. That unfortunately is where the good ends. The staff although friendly was very forgetful. We would place an order for an item, it would take a second engagement with our server to ask for a status of the order. The length of time to seemed excessive. We ordered the Detroit style pizza and an order of wings. Super disappointing!!! The wings were so small you would have to look around for pigeons. If you like a thick bread style crust, then these Detroit style pizzas won't disappoint. I will be hard pressed to return.

Heading home from Chicago with family and we needed to stop some place for dinner. Since we love local spots and craft beer, Carriage Court was a great choice! Not too far off 65 in Crown Point, this little spot is connected to Crown Brewing. We ordered their new cheesy bread. It was amazing. Gone before I was able to get a picture. Since they are connected to the brewery, we were able to have a large selection of beers! There wasn't a beer we didn't like. I had three different dark beers and all were wonderful. Finally we ordered a large Detroit style pizza and it was cooked perfectly. The sauce was great and the crispy edges were great. Our waitress was so friendly and knowledgeable. She told us her fav beers and what she liked from the menu. If I am ever back in the area, I will definitely stop in again!!

    Beer battered mushrooms

Nice spot to sit and enjoy a lunch, service was on the slow side but supper friendly. Had Beer battered mushrooms that might be the best I've ever had! Garlic bread needed more garlic, should try adding fresh minced on it. Pizza was good. Good fresh dough. Would go back when in town. Love local places! Place was very clean. For being there for as long as it has they've done a nice job keeping everything up.

July 2021 - We have wanted to try this place for several months. We were there on what appeared to be a slow business day. We sat inside this industrial looking building. Our server appeared to be very inexperienced. There was a good 20 minutes between the drink order and the food order. Once our pizza was ordered it was another 20 to 30 minutes before it arrived. Overall, the pizza was tasty! We had a crumbled sausage pizza. The crust was hard and crunchy on the edge. If it was hand tossed then I would be surprised. It seemed like a frozen crust with no yeast. The sauce and the sausage and cheese was good. The next time I will order a different style pizza for carry out.

Excellent service, amazing pizza. Our kids love it and it's always good time. Highly recommend.

Margarita pizza with extra "basil" aka seasoning (tasted like Italian not just basil)
    Erin M.

Ordering was very easy & friendly, delivery was timely. A little disappointed with the pizza though. $15 for this Margherita felt kind of like a rip off -- I expected fresh basil and the crust tasted undercooked. It was about the same quality or less than grocery store frozen pizza. The other pizza we ordered was a lot better but my husband wasn't fond of the cheese, felt like it could've been cooked more in the center (it was "very white"). $40 before tip seems pricey for this quality.

Great authentic pizza. Try the crumbled sausage just like old school from the Glen Park area of Gary made in hot ovens on corn bread crumbs.

My family enjoys every pizza we order from Carriage Court Pizza. We recently tried the shredded BBQ cheese pizza and it was so good.

It's unfortunate that I receive the exact opposite on my second visit. I was waiting to be helped and they took two white men, and an elder white lady before me, even though I was acknowledged. I can understand if they're older and they wanna be helpful first, but there is no communication on this.... And then I saw the sign. I should've taken a photo cause it was a little startling, and unfortunate that they expressed so openly their political position and hate for Wokeness. I've heard some stories how they are true MAGA and slightly racist, but you have to experience it for yourself. You have to give a place a chance. And it saddens me the way I was treated on my second time back. Folks everywhere are just so sad and upset these days, every life has been disrupted in someway the last 10 years for multiple reasons. It's stressful out here, but it's also stressful trying to get good quality food with all the regulation changes. I travel out of the country multiple times a year and American food is just the worst. So I'll keep searching for quality in both the product and in the customer service. In some small way, it's good to know a store position because I don't wanna give them my business. It's so weird to fight against progress. And it's even weirder to think Wokeness is a thing. Stay asleep.

It was like an old school grocery stop with a deli shop that was busy when I walked in. Had me curious enough to come back and try a lunch sandwich from here. This meat market has the soup bones for my dogs for a decent price also. I never wrote a review with the intent of a follow up review as I have to come back, grab a sandwich and buy some ready made family style dinner trays that looked like it would make my cooking nights way easier! The lady Çathy up front was extremely knowledgeable of the place. I will be back very soon to provide an update on the family dishes and sandwiches! Can't wait!
