The other week my house was damaged in the tornado (turkey creek Merrillville area), and the storm is spinning the block again today. I decided to buy a lot of pizza because it can be eaten cold in case the power goes out tonight (staying with extended) I ordered to large pizzas, and forgot to add sausages. My pregnant wife was grateful but internally sad. So I bought another medium sausage. After this was explained, the manager offered to make me another family size pizza with sausage, stating that I already bout 3 pizzas, and she wants to help me out. Thank you very much! I placed an order for 4 family sized pizzas and paid online. When I arrived she went to the back to grab the order. She comes out and announces someone else's name and hands it to me. I asked is this for Shay? She says she doesn't know and that I should look at the ticket. Wow. She then tells me I need to pay $131. I told her I paid online. The older coworker showed her on the screen where I already paid. Once we get home the spinach and tomato pizza were covered in diced tomatoes. Tomato pizza is usually sliced. came in for the advertised Lunch Buffet. The warmer with pasta and chicken wings was either off or not working. Everything was ice cold. crock in salad bar were all empty tomatoes, cucumbers, Told hostess about refreshing the cricks expir and told her about the cold food and she said she would take care of it and have them bring out fresh stuff. They brought out two hot pizzas while we were there. Everything else had been sitting there the whole time nasty nasty nasty nasty. When I checked out I was charged full price which I don't have an issue with. I asked the server about bringing out the hot items and the cold items that we asked about she said they're working on it. That was not the case. She was busy chatting with one of the cooks. I have always enjoyed Beggars Pizza, especially the location in Blue Island on Western Avenue. I was pleased when they expanded into Indiana. Their carryout service is consistently excellent, and the staff is very friendly when taking orders. If there is ever an issue, they are quick to resolve it. I grew up eating Beggars Pizza from 127th and Western Ave, and I think every Beggars Pizza I eat should taste as great as the original. Some locations have begun to skimp on the crust. In my opinion, this is to give the illusion they are "laying it on thick." My most recent out of state Beggars Pizza experience was different. The service provided was top knotch, all be it I called in for a take out order as I was driving. When I arrived, the young ladies at the register were super sweet and accommodating, they Checked different codes and accounts I provided when trying to find the best deal. I was REALLY disappointed with my Pizza. I ordered a large thin crust sausage pizza. -we already discussed my thoughts behind the crust conspiracy, lol. I asked for the Pizza to be pie cut (and it was). However, there were entire slices that had absolutely NO, NONE, ZERO, ZIP sausage!!!! Don't get me wrong, there was hella cheese present, but the entire pizza only had as much sausage on it as 2 pie slices from the "newer" Beggars in Blue Island. There were also 2 slices where the cheese didn't reach the crust and there was just bread and sauce a half inch away from the crust. I see a 2.9 rating for this location, which I find interesting, considering they make what I consider top quality pizza and service at the Crown Point location. As a frequent take out customer, I have never had a single rude experience with the ladies up front at the counter and I was appalled at the negative reviews given to them. These same reviewers may want to review their own attitudes before casting judgement. They have always been polite. The servers have always been pleasant and professional, always ready to serve you in a timely manner. The food is outstanding, and I especially like the appetizers, like the dough bites and mini tacos, among their other options. They have a nice bar, where my friends and I have had drinks and lunch while watching the Cubs games. The lady bar tenders are very cool with great senses of humor. It's the right sized bar, not a sprawling mess like up the street, where it's too loud and unable to hear yourself. This is my kind of place, personable with friendly employees and great food. The reviews I have read in here do not reflect the experience I have had food wise or otherwise with this location. The service at this location has declined severely. My last three orders have been a gamble. Even though when you order through their website, they give you the option to decide the "bake" level and "cut" for your pizza. However, they completely ignore your request and you are just left with whatever the cook(s) decide you get. I've even brought this to the attention of the manager when my pizza was over done (burnt) and not cut as requested. You would think they would be more careful to give a customer, who orders 2-3 times a week from them, exactly what they asked for. Nope! Out on another work trip and we were looking for a good local pizza place. This came recommended by some of the local folks we'd met with earlier that day. When we arrived, we caught them in between lunch and dinner rushes, so the place was mostly empty. We got a table immediately, and the staff was really friendly. It didn't take long for the food to come out, and I liked what I had. I opted for their thin crust, which to be honest, more closely resembles the hand-tossed option in most other places (not a complaint, just adding context). Loved the flavor of the sauce, and they definitely didn't skimp on the pepperoni. While they do have garlic bread and bosco sticks as appetizer options, I'd like to see some regular breadsticks included on the menu. The cheese in the bosco sticks I ordered wasn't completely melted, and they were a bit on the greasy side. Regardless, I'd definitely give them another visit if/when I'm back in the area. I'd likely just opt for the garlic bread next time. Oh, and for all you deep dish fanatics, they do have Chicago-style on the menu, and my coworker loved it. Showed up at open time 1-5-24 at 11am, tables and chairs all had food on them from the previous night. Ordered Italian beef with mozzarella cheese and cheese sticks as an appetizer. Sandwich came out without the cheese. I told our waitress I ordered cheese on the sandwich and I needed some cheese. She seemed very overwhelmed because the restaurant was already full at open and she was the only one working. I reminded her that I ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer as well and she said they were cooking. She soon brought them out and the mozzarella sticks were still frozen in the middle. SERVICE WAS UNBELIEVABLE! The Best! We entered Beggars Pizza in Crown Point around 7:35. Ordered pizza and wings. Thinking they closed at 9:00 we chatted and ate at a leisurely pace. Then we decided on a dessert to share. The server, very nicely, took the order and offered drink refills. We talked about how slow it was because we were the only ones dining in there. After we ate our dessert, we went up to pay our bill, only to find out they had closed 50 minutes earlier. We felt bad for keeping them so long after closing and apologized. They were so kind and acted like it was no big deal and thanked us for dinning there. It was the first time we ate at a restaurant that didn't notify us multiple times they were closing or closed. We are "late diners" and have stopped eating certain places because the employees make us feel like we are imposing on them if we come in to eat within the last hour they are open. Spent $45 for a deep dish, A money splurge in these tight times. Pizza arrived burnt. Mgmt was willing to remake it if I gave it back but unwilling to compensate me for having to wait another hour for the remade one. I have to sit waiting and hungry because of their mistake. Infuriating. Will never order from them again. I've worked in food service for more than two decades. An order so obviously overcooked should never have left the kitchen (the crust looked like tree bark). Offering to redo what should have been done right in the first place without any other attempt to make things right (especially when making things right would take around an hour) is not the way to retain customers. Friday night and we don't feel like cooking. Hello Beggars! Buffalo wings, salad (relaxed Romaine lettuce with Iceberg) and pizza. We called on our way there to order our pizza. This cuts down on the wait time once you get there. We started with 6 piece wings in buffalo sauce. They were "Meh". The salad was okay too. The tomato and cucumbers looked a little old but they tasted fine. My first mistake was NOT ordering the very thin crust. I am not a fan of hand tossed, but that's what we got. I usually love the pizza here, but tonight not do much. Don't get me wrong, I ate a few pieces but my taste buds were not as happy as they usually are. We visited Beggars last Sunday and called our order of 3 pizzas in ahead of time. The thin crust was burnt on the bottom and they still served it. After three of us took slices of the deep dish served, we realized that the deep dish was a stuffed pizza that did not even have the ingredients that we ordered. They took the deep dish back to the kitchen and then served it to another table!!!! I'm still wondering what the Health Inspector would think about that! I've been getting pizza here since the first opened, so well over a decade. This place is always consistent, except for last night. I ordered a medium thin crust and once home I noticed that the pizza looked different than the other 100 times I've ordered from here. The cheese was almost non existent. If you know Beggars, you know they "lay it in thick" and have a generous amount of cheese. This pizza was missing at least 1/2 the normal amount of cheese.
