Bought these black garbage bags and the sign matched exactly what I was buying and it was advertised for $8.99 so $5.00 off the normal price. I paid for the box of garbage bags, another box of kitchen garbage bags and fbreeze bamboo scented spray that was marked down to $4.97. When I arrived at my mom's house I noticed I was over charged but it was far past me getting back in my car to drive back in there. I had grabbed the last box. I noticed almost everything was locked up in this store as well(is there a major theft issue in the town now?) considering I live in Salem Oregon and even our stores don't do this. Not saying it's a bad thing though as it creates less shrinkage for company! But the customer service lacked as well--pleasant and chatty to people ahead of me versus to me. Not many people I noticed in the store. Now to be quite brutally honest this would not have been my first choice to stop at your get what needed and the only reason I did was it was an easy right turn in and out, so I figured it would be a fast stop. Will I shop here again? No I will not be shopping here again, if I have to take and waste my time of 30 minutes to fix the issue that was not in my control in the first place, the gas in my vehicle and stress of dealing with this issue I'd rather go to a bigger store that if something is on sale it rings up correctly or I can see the price it rang up at. Also I sprayed the fbreeze and it smelled fine but when I handed the bottle to my family as I was leaving there was stringy white mucous looking stuff in the bottle so more than likely it was bad. Battle Ground Ace Hardware - Garbage bags that I was over charged on and was last box! - Hardware Stores Near Me - Battle Ground, Washington

This has haunted me long enough every time I think of it and it's time to say something. There is a man who works there with a potential/most likely service "dog". It's unmarked so I'm making assumptions here. Anyways, this "dog" is a wolf hybrid and HUGE. My two young kids were fascinated by it and asked if they could see it better. The owner said YES and brought the dog around the counter ...barely holding onto the leash. The kids were standing there looking at it and HE SAID THEY COULD PET IT IF THEY WANTED TO. Thank god my husband held out his hand to let the "dog" sniff it first because that freaking wolf dog started showing his teeth and growling. The dog comes up to my 7 years olds head and my 3 year old is obviously much smaller. He *LAUGHED* and said "he doesn't like big crowds". Then why the heck did you even bring him around or offer that the kids could pet him? This is an unsafe situation because the owner is not thinking of the possibility that his dog may not be comfortable in all situations and taking the steps to prevent that from happening. He needs to hold that leash a lot better and not offer to bring it around the corner. Shame on the owner of this Ace location for not having a better policy in place for these types of situations. By no means am I saying that the dog shouldn't be there, I am saying the owner of the store and the owner of this "dog" needs to be more responsible. Until then, I will never ever recommend this location. read more

Pretty much anything I've needed they've had. The employees are so helpful - I'm always needing help finding things and they always take me right to it. This review is not about the employees or the store, but the shoppers. I was angered and appalled that about 95% of the shoppers wore no protective masks. They wandered all over the store, talking on their phones, potentially spreading Covid 19 germs all over everyone. How can people be so inconsiderate? Don't they take this seriously? Do they think it's ok for all of these people to die? What's the matter with them? Washington state should enact a law like California requiring everyone to wear a mask when going into a public space or STAY HOME! I'm sure there will be plenty of responses from these worse than inconsiderate people, saying that we should stay home and you can rest assured that we will, due to the incredible thoughtless people out in public in today's environment. Why is it Battleground Ace doesn't stock the same inventory as their other stores, including the one in Cowlick County? I have never seen a more poorly run store, the people that they hire are completely ignorant they try to sell you things that you really don't need because they're sorry asses trying to sell you something to make them feel better about themselves. Maybe if they hire people who know what they're talking about and actually work in those areas like plumbing or cabinetry or tech automotive. But it's a sure sign that they're cheap and they don't wanna pay people who have experience and what they are really worth. The service here has always been lacking, but in recent times it's like you need to feel privileged to even enter their store. If you can get around the giant "wear your mask" sign...and I do mean giant. The thing is a 4ft x 5 or 6ft sandwich board practically blocking the door, you will soon feel unwelcome. One or two of the employees treated me nicely, but I was treated rudely and harshly in front of a long line of customers, they even refused to check me out, I have special health concerns, which I explained to the manager,who thankfully was kind to me. I tried to follow all their rules, but I cannot wear a mask. I will not shop there again. Walked over from a nearby hotel to find they were 45 minutes from opening. Was walking away when an employee setting up outside said he could open up for me if I needed anything. He was great. This store denied me service based on a medical condition. Straight up discrimination. They literally violated federal law as well as the state mandate they claimed to be following. They told me it was corporate policy, and when i contacted corporate they told me it was the individual store's policy. Ace Hardware discriminates and lies. I have a disability that prevents me from wearing a mask and I was screamed at by employees in front of customers and humiliated and kicked out while I was trying to show them proof of my disability, which by law I am not suppose to be asked for but I was willing to provide. They said they didn't care that I had a disability and that I can not be inside their store. This is discrimination. Really gone down hill. Today I was in there at 10:40 for a sale that ended at 11:00. I had all I came in for in about 5 minutes or so and was strolling the isles looking for whatever deals they had that I didn't know I needed. I arrived at the check out counter a couple of minutes past 11:00. There was a line so I didn't start checking out until about 11:08. When I noticed the prices were coming up incorrectly and pointed it out to the cashier, she repeated over and over that the sale ended at 11:00. When I explained everything was in my cart by 11:00 and I had been waiting in line, again she repeated that the sale ended at 11:00 in a very rude tone of voice and would not honor the sale prices. I had a lot of other non-sale items but I left the store not spending a penny. I always shopped here before going to any big box hardware stores but unfortunately they lost a long-time customer this morning. read more

My husband was just in the Ace Hardware store in Battle Ground and was treated extremely rudely by a checker because he brought in our little dog. It is very cold outside and true he should have left the dog home , but decided to stop and get more Christmas lights. The old lady yelled at him. What a lovely experience at the Ace Hardware in Battle Ground today. Yesterday I had purchased a set of support brackets for the clothes bar in my closet, as well as a few other odds and ends. I remember the purchase specifically, because I stood in the aisle for a good 5 minutes debating whether to get the plastic, metal or wooden brackets. I opted for the wood, as it was a plastic one that had broke thus causing the replacement. The wooden one was too thick and didn't fit. Today, I went back to Ace to exchange it for the metal one. I thought I had the receipt with me, but had grabbed another one on accident (Battle Ground Produce...that place rules). The lady who was handling the exchange pointed it out and then looked at the brackets and said "that's not ours. We don't carry that kind." I looked at her and said "I absolutely did buy it here yesterday and can tell you what other kinds you have on your shelf..a metal one and a plastic one." The person who had rang me up yesterday was on the other register. I then pointed at her (later I learned she was employee 26-Judy) and said she's the one who rang me up. Judy looked at me and said "no I didn't" and then echoed what first woman had said. "We don't even carry that kind" Then yet ANOTHER member of Ace Hardware's Think Tank came over and joined in with her fellow MENSA members saying that wasn't a product carried by Ace, and essentially I'm lying. (This employee has a bad bleached dye job out of the late 70's early 80's...looks like she smokes about 3 packs a day and has spent plenty of time in the passenger seat of a Trans Am.) At this point I'm pissed. If they would have told me that their exchange/return policy dictates I need to have a receipt in hand, I would have still been miffed, but would have understood. Being called a liar in front of half a dozen people (few other customers were by the paint dept. watching) is unacceptable. Still pissed, I said.."I'm not going to sit here and argue with you for $3.75, you can have it..I'm going to Wilco" and walked out. I ended up going to Fred's first and actually found what I needed there. I started to get really angry on the drive home. Initially I was just going to let it go, but never shop at Ace again. When I got home and found the correct receipt, I decided to go back and let these folks know that indeed, their collective IQ does not exceed room temperature. When I walked in Bizzaro Farrah Fawcett with the bad bleach job gave me a half apology and crooked smile while muttering something like "they had found it after I left" Seriously bad form. All three of these women knee-jerked and called me a liar with out even checking. It sucks too, because I like a lot of what Ace carries and pretty much split by business between them and Wilco. Never again. I'll drive to the Home Depot off Padden PKWY before going to this Ace again. read more

I've been shopping here since they well before they opened in the new location. They are well-staffed and I am asked more often than not if I need help finding anything. I like Wilco a lot, but these guys leave them in the dirt for customer service, staffing, and being proactive to ask if you need help instead of making you chase someone down to ask if they can help you. Great store. The last thing I want is to get lost in a hardware store...it's so frustrating! When I walked in looking for hangers to hang my art, the nice young man directed me to an area. Oh, gosh, I walked the isles and couldn't find what I was looking for and feeling frustrated. In walked Josh, he knew exactly what I needed and where it was...bingo!! Nice and easy. I've shopped here a number of times. I'll start by saying I really miss the old Ace when it was across the street from Wilco. Things like washers and nuts and bolts were reasonably priced and there was a great selection. Now to the new store- a bigger, more attractive building- yes. The big change was that prices shot up dramatically. We aren't just paying for the products anymore, we just got enlisted as defacto real estate investors. I've found that the staff generally tries their best to help find items for me, but often they just don't stock what I need. Plumbing repair parts, bathtub drain washers- you name it, they have things, just rarely my sizes for some reason. If I need more than one item, it now warrants the drive elsewhere to avoid the convenience store pricing model. Don't take my word, go comparison shop on things like Sure-Line painting pad replacements for example- you'll find Ace prices 25% higher than other options in Vancouver. This wasn't the case until the shiny new building arrived. I long for yesteryear! read more

I've had to return 3 ace brand products. Today was a sump pump advertised to pump 60 gallons a minute. That estimation is drastically out of reach. I cleaned it so it was almost brand new looking and went back to exchange a 60 dollar pump for a 130 dollar pump plus 25 in extra parts. The same guy each time plus this time told me he'd have a "hard time taking this back." I insisted it does not work as advertised. Even Walmart would make this exchange and I hate Walmart. I asked if that means he can't exchange because my garage is full of water and I was in a hurry. He pointed to a paper taped to the counter. I'll never shop there again. I only bought that pump because another employee told me it would more than suffice. I'll be filing a complaint with corporate and shopping at wilco from now on. read more

Go anywhere else for tool's, supplies, or advice. Was looking for a Reciprocating Saw for a project I was working on. Didn't really want to take the time to travel out of town, so let's give Ace a shot. I found a saw for a reasonable price. Then needed assistance getting the saw from a very unorganized cramped shelf with a cage around it. A worker I tracked down and stole away from sitting in patio chairs the store sells, helped dig threw the cage for the saw I wanted for about 1 min (60 seconds) then said nope I don't think we have it. Just then, a little too the right I noticed the saw I was looking for. The worker handed the saw to me and said have a good day as he took off. The box to the saw was crushed up really bad. But hey its just a box right? I proceeded to check out where the cashier in her early 20's with dark features rang me up without a word other then the price and if I had a reward card. I paid and the cashier turned and started a conversation up with her Co worker (non business related) I go out to my car and double check to see if the saw came with blades...it did not :( So I venture back into Ace as I'm greeted with "Oh its you again" I wonder towards the aisle I think blades will be in and a worker ask me if he can help me locate something. He takes me to the blades and ask if I need any other help. I did not, but he seemed like a solid employee to me, unfortunate he works with such lazy people. I found the blades and went to check out again. Where I was greeted with the price and if I had a rewards card "Oh no you don't duh" I paid cash and made my way towards the door when I was told by the cashier "that I could leave this time, leave the parking lot." Oh and I did for the very last time ever. I have had bad experiences in Aces elsewhere and won't be making this mistake ever again. Go to Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, a mom and pop store people. I went to ace because I needed a screw driver because my phone case required one and the woman there was so nice, she took the case apart and put it on my phone for free. Once she was done putting the new case on my phone she showed me what type of screw driver I would need and she sold it to me, all with a smile she was so friendly I can honestly say that I have never had such a great experience at a store. read more

Staff is awesome very helpful. Prices are good depending on the items. Sometimes it's much cheaper to go to a place like wilco. I do not buy bulk nuts and bolts here. My experiences at our Ace Hardware have been consistently good. They're friendly, helpful and great people. It's nice to be greeted when you walk into the store; it feels so 'down home'. As far as the items I need, they usually have them. If they don't, they offer to see if they can get it. Constantine and Sam were awesome , 5 minutes before close I ran in to ace within an urgent situation, my hot water heater pipes had snapped and these guys stayed late solved my problem, even though they didn't have the piece that I needed they put some parts together and made up an adapter to fix my pipes. I really enjoy shopping locally and Ace Hardware in Battle Ground meets all my expectation. Recently I made a large purchase of a piece of outdoor furniture. I had to borrow a truck to pick it up and after getting it home, found it had defective parts. After calling the store manager, they arranged to drive out to my home, deliver the new piece of furniture and take the defective piece back. Every time I enter this Ace Hardware I receive unbeatable service. However, my last two visits take the cake and I am now LOYAL! Rod was so helpful the other evening just before closing. I came in to grab a couple of color swatches trying to match wall colors at home. He said, "Let me help you with that". He took my sample and showed me how they do color matching. Unfortunately the color wasn't quite right, so I went back the next morning and was so lucky to have Katie help me. She was so patient and determined, it was refreshing. It took me several trips back to get the colors just right (they were light neutrals, so it wasn't easy). I couldn't have wished for better service.
