The first time we used them the person that came gave us a lot of different options on how to fix the problems we were having which is helpful when you are trying to figure out to fit this kind of stuff in the budget. Their pricing is reasonable and I have no complaints about the quality of the work. In the past, I have had to call back electricians after they were done but I haven't had that experience with McCurdy. Communication has been really open as well which is not something I really appreciate in these kind of service providers. Most recently we had an emergency situation and were very flexible and responsive. Overall they are our family's preferred service provider for electrical work.

I had a challenging wiring problem (undetectable via instrumentation due to metal in walls) that my first electrician refused to fix, but Puccio was able to resolve (although it took two visits). While at my home, I also had them address some minor issues (e.g., 1 outlet replaced, 1 junction upgraded to light switch) in addition to the main wiring problem. The team was friendly, professional and cleaned up after. They told me up front what their hourly rate was and warned me in advance what the total cost might be. The final bill reflected that rate/estimate (and minimal materials cost with expected hours) so I feel they are very honest. As other reviewers have mentioned, they are expensive (initial visit / 1st hour is about 300$, but less after that), but I can tell you that a good electrician is very hard to find and they are worth it. If you have an urgent problem or are on a tight budget, you may wish to look elsewhere, but if you want excellent electricians and are patient, use Puccio.

Then came the "discounts": $100 off, and when they saw I was still stunned, another $50. It felt like buying a used car, with a high-pressure negotiation designed to make me feel like I was getting a deal, when in reality I was being ripped off. If I hadn't shown my shock, I likely would have paid the full $850. The work itself was fine, and the technician was polite, but the price was outrageous. The national average for this job is $375-$450, and even in Massachusetts, the high end is about $575. I paid $700. I later learned that Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks is owned by Sila Services, backed by Goldman Sachs. This corporate structure adds overhead and drives up prices for customers. I thought I was hiring a local company, but I was wrong -- this is part of a multi-owner corporate platform. After reading other Yelp reviews, it's clear my experience was not unique. I wish I had read them first. If you want reasonably priced plumbing, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a genuinely local company.
