That was presented to me as the only option -- no alternatives, no phasing, nothing. And it did not include the roughly $6,000 I'd need to close the walls back up and reinstall fixtures, or the ~$400 roofer I'd have to hire and coordinate myself. Their own estimate puts the hole repair on the customer in writing. All in: nearly $37,000. Meanwhile my first-floor tenant was told she couldn't use her bathroom or her kitchen. When I hesitated at the number, I was told that at least if I sold the house I'd "have retail value." That's the line that made me stop and get a second opinion. Thompson Plumbing came out, found the actual leak -- old hubbed cast iron serving the kitchen -- and repiped it. $2,995. My final invoice was $3,420, and that included an unrelated frost-free silcock I added on. My toilet was fine. My kitchen sink was fine. My tenant's kitchen and bathroom were fine. Not one wall was demoed. Same house. Same leak. Ten percent of the price. I'm not going to speculate about why the two assessments were so far apart. I'll just say this: if 128 Plumbing tells you your house needs a $30,000 repipe, get a second quote before you sign anything. I nearly didn't, and it would have cost me thirty-three thousand dollars I did not need to spend.

However, they are very expensive and push the boundaries of being honest and fair. We recently had a leak in our main drain pipe in the basement and called Papalia. They charge $99 for a consult, but it can be used towards repairs. They diagnosed the issue and then wrote up a proposal to fix it for $900. It sounded expensive, but we already paid the $99 and didn't want to start over again from scratch so we agreed. The plumber also misled us about how simple the fix actually was. It ended up taking him about 20 minutes to replace a 3-foot section of pipe with PVC. He also "forgot" about the $99 credit deal and tried to charge us $1000 and we had to call him on it before he would agree to honor the agreement. So they fixed the issue, the job seems to have been done well. But we way overpaid and every step of the interaction felt designed to mislead and extract as much money as possible from us. Not going to use them again in the future.

Line items included attaching the faucet to the counter for $900. There was nothing about their bid even remotely competitive to other plumbing companies I had quote me. I guess they thought people wouldn't get a couple different quotes, or they bank on it. The had no issue collecting the $85 service charge though for coming out. Stay far away, they price like they don't want to do residential work.

I reached out via yelp messenger and got a response within the hour and they dispatched at technician over within 2 hours. The technician arrived Joey, and was professional and courteous. He identified the blockage and setup some tarps around the sink area to minimize dirt. He snaked the drain very thoroughly and resolved the blockage. Joey was chill whole time, explained some of the possible root causes behind blockage and preventative measures. Do not hire this company for anything complicated! We hired…read moreAndrew to replace a boiler in our 2 pipe steam system in a 90 yr. Old house. He had done other minor plumbing projects for us with which we were happy but this one did not work out as well. It became clear he did not have experience with this type of system and initially did not install the pipes to,the boiler correctly which became apparent after we finally consulted a " senior" plumber who advised him how to redo the piping. After the installation was correct 1/3 of the radiators in the house were not working which had been functional with the old boiler. He was unable to figure out why so we had to hire another company at several thousand dollar cost and it turned out that Andrew had not properly skimmed the oil out of the boiler used to attach some of the pipes which spread throughout the system and this oil clogged radiator steam traps which made the radiators nonfunctional. This added several thousand dollars extra cost and he did not respond to our request to discuss the findings of the senior plumber. He told us he has been in independent business for 5 years but clearly has not encountered all the problems one will find in old houses around this area and did not have the knowledge for this sort of job.
