I had them do yearly servicing on the boiler for the last three years and then had them repair it in February - March 2026 when there was a problem with very low heat. The problem was not correctly addressed. At no time did they check to determine that most of the water had drained out of the boiler. They said I needed a new aquastat and replaced it but set it to 200 degrees (about 40 degrees higher than needed). When I had a technician from a company that knows how to service boilers look at it, the inside was very dirty (had not been getting regular cleaning, although I had paid for maintenance each fall). He discovered that the water had drained out, that it needed flushing, and has repaired the boiler.

He was here 2 hours,…read morebutchered my cartridge casing in trying to get the cartridge out and told me I needed to call someone else because he couldn't help me further. Are you serious?!! Are you a plumber or not?! My water had to be shut off until I got someone. The next day I called Gary at GJ Adams Plumbing. I knew nothing about his company, there were no reviews that I could find, but took a chance because he was local, licensed and in business for 30 years. Professional, personal, walked me through everything he was going to do. He told me he would get the rest of the cartridge out, but it wouldn't guarantee the new one would work because the guy who had worked on it the day before damaged the casing around it. I asked him to try anyway. Nope the previous guy had done too much damage. So Gary stayed, didn't charge me for that new cartridge he destroyed by seeing if it would work, replaced everything that needed to be done. He cut the wall open w/ care so that It would be easy for me to patch up (who knew to replace piping and plumbing you had to go through a wall and not be able to get to it through a little hole, ugh!). My shower works better than ever. I am more than pleased with his work and would hire him again in a second. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is his hourly rate is a bit more than others in the Syracuse area. HOWEVER, I should have known better than to hire that first guy because as my father always said, you get what you pay for.
