I really wanted to leave a better review, because the guy at the front desk was genuinely awesome--super friendly, helpful, and professional. He's the only reason this isn't an even harsher experience to write about. That said, the actual detailing service was extremely disappointing. My car was there for 9 hours, and it honestly looks like it was worked on for maybe 20-30 minutes at the very end of the day. The seats weren't shampooed, and overall the job felt rushed and incomplete. For $145, I expected a thorough detail--not something I could've done myself in under half an hour. I have respect for the front desk staff, but whoever handled the detailing on my car seriously needs to be addressed. Based on this experience, I can't recommend their detailing services. Aging European cars can be a PITA...and pocketbook...to keep maintain. It's always nice to have a local shop to help keep them running. Bauer has a convenient, clean and friendly shop that accommodates your schedule, as well as helping you get back home with a ride. I feel they are on par with the cost of a dealership, unfortunately, but they've gotta pay their rent and feed their families. I would like to suggest a more diligent post-repair inspection to make sure that everything is secure and buttoned-up. Luckily, I do this after every repair on our cars which caught a couple loose items (hose straps); nothing major, but still would have preferred to have them taken care of before releasing the vehicle. Humans do make mistakes, so we all need to remember, and account for that possibility; no matter who you are. read more

So I had my Porsche at Bauer a few years ago and they said I needed new engine mounts. So I approved it and had them do it. So 3 years later and not too many miles put on my car, my new mechanic I use who is really good - I trust them way more than Bauer - they told me I need new engine mounts. So something is fishy. Sounds like Bauer screwed me because I shouldn't need new mounts yet. So do your research. Get a second opinion if Bauer tells you something needs to be done. I feel I got screwed. In April 2024, I paid over $3,500 to Bauer Auto Repair for a clutch and flywheel replacement on my 2015 Mini Cooper. Less than 4,000 miles later, a clunking noise led a trusted mechanic to discover that Bauer had left the transmission support loose--causing further damage and possibly harming the transmission. This happened well within their 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, yet Mr. Bauer refused to take responsibility, blamed another cause, and quoted me over $3,000 to fix it. He was very friendly and assured me multiple times that they use OEM BMW parts sourced from dealerships. After the work was completed, the noise was still present. About six months later (with less than 4,000 miles driven), I took the car to a BMW dealership. They found that the same part listed on Bauer's invoice was cracked. The dealership even offered to replace it at no cost if proof could be provided that the part was purchased from a BMW dealer. When I reached out to Bauer German Auto to request documentation, I was told it would take 30-45 days to retrieve receipts from their bookkeeper. I waited over two months and still did not receive anything. The dealership also could not find any record of that part being purchased through them. Overall, I felt I was misled and lied to. I paid $160 on Groupon for an over $400 car detailing service from Bauer German car repair.. I called four days in advance to confirm my appointment and was explicitly told it was confirmed. When I arrived at the agreed-upon time, I was told I did not have an appointment. After a brief argument, they reluctantly agreed to keep my car and perform the $400 detailing I had scheduled. Six hours later, I picked up my vehicle and it was immediately obvious that it had not even been washed, let alone detailed. The car was returned in the exact condition in which I left it. When I raised this issue, the owner attempted to gaslight me, claiming that I "didn't understand what a detailing was." That explanation was insulting and dishonest. I have never been treated with such disrespect by a customer service provider. This was a complete failure of professionalism, communication, and basic integrity, and it left me genuinely angry and upset. By the way, this is my first ever yelp review. Came suggesting there was issues with my fuel pump they recommended spark plugs check engine didnt go out their excuse was faulty parts came back a third time they suggested an air intake manifold to my skepticism they responded "i take care of you" showed me the price they charge women for the same part was twice as expensive changed my spark plugs changed my air intake manifold woke up for work one morning fuel pump failed completely car wouldnt start guess i was right and paid for 2 different repairs that had nothing to do with the actual issue. Guy at the front desk is absolutely insufferable. His response to me after spending 7 thousand on 2 different cars? Get your money up and ill fix your car. Customer beware! Bauer blew my head gasket and cracked the head of my engine. These guys were a bunch of amateurs with my BMW and they hid under the guise of German specialty shop. This shop blew my engine due to negligence and inability to properly diagnose a rather simple repair. A $20 thermostat and knowledge from a 18 year old auto shop student would've prevented all this mess. They were also very inconsiderate with my car. My car sustained multiple paint damages from their lack of care. I took the shop to small claims and I was awarded $6365 for all the damages caused by them. Of course Bauer appealed the judgement and the 2nd judge unfortunately dismissed the case due to a lame technicality, because the car wasn't my "legal property" as it wasn't registered into my name yet smh! Even though I'm the legal owner with title, bill of sale etc! unfortunately I wasn't able to recoup my damages nevertheless I had a great case against them and this should be proof enough for any consumer to determine their level of caution when dealing with this shop. My wish is to help a fellow consumer avoid any hardship. Be cautious when dealing with this business. My point of contacts during my ordeal , Camille & Andreas. Court Ordered on 12/14/2023 West Covina Courthouse $6365 judgement against Bauer case #23WCSC00347. From the moment I called and was greeted with an enthusiastic "Happy Friday!" I knew I had found the right place. My BMW had a "right low beam malfunction" which I was told could be fixed same-day. I brought the car in and it was fixed within 45 minutes. Camille was so friendly and so knowledgeable on German cars, which is no surprise as he's been doing this for 45 years. Andreas Bauer at Bauer German Auto Repair solved my car problems. I had taken my car for repairs to a trusted repair shop that I have gone to for the past 10 years, and another mechanic to fix it, but the problems persisted. My car had clunking noises when the road is uneven, thanks to road constructions and potholes in Glendora. The steering wheel made some noises while I tried to park. While driving through downtown, I saw Bauer German Auto Repair, and decided to stop by! Andreas was there, and offered to leave my car for a few hours so he could do some assessments on it. I got a loaner car which was awesome. Andreas explained to me in details what needed to be replaced, and why the previous repair by the other mechanic did not solve the problem! He gave me an estimate, ordered the parts, and we scheduled the appointment right away. Apparently, my car needed a lot of replacements for parts. It is E500 Mercedes 2003 V8 with Sports Package. Most of the parts were either original (never been replaced) or had been replaced and were worn out. It took a total of 2 full days to get things done, but Andreas planned it in 2 weeks time to adjust to my work schedule. He gave me a loaner car so I could drive locally while my car was in the shop. I'm happy to say that no more clunking or rattling noises while driving on uneven road, no more clucking noise from turning the steering wheel while trying to park, the brake and gas pedals are solid, and not to mention the car acceleration feels awesome! When you go to Bauer German Auto Repair with one problem, be open to other things that might need attention. Andreas is all about safety which I love. He is very knowledgable. It needed an oil change, so instead of going to the West Covina Audi dealership, as always, I decided to try a local mechanic specializing in German cars. The reviews seemed solid enough, and Bauer has been in business for 40+ years. Instead of being honest, Andreas Bauer said my motor mounts were both bad and needed to be changed! A $2,500 job. My husband wanted me to drive a safe car, so approved the work. Turned out that motor mounts don't go bad until 60,000 or more likely 100,000 miles, and the car shakes, vibrates at a stop, etc... None of this was true for my smooth running car. We took the motor mounts to an independent mechanic for a second opinion, and proved Andreas Bauer took advantage, sold work that did not need to be done, and lost a new, potentially life-long customer over greed and dishonesty. Was referred to this shop by another local repair shop. To start, it felt like i was dealing with a grimy used car salesman when I initially made contact. I was quoted over $4K to fix an oil leak, oil change, plugs and coil. I asked to only repair the oil clean and oil change, which came out to $2500. Feeling like was being taken advantage of- I called the local dealer that quoted me for the identical work at $1500 out the door (including valve covers). Due to the car already being at the shop I approved the repairs at Bauer expecting great results. Received the car back missing my windshield rear view mirror plastic cover (why!?!), someone went through my box that was sealed in the trunk, the check engine light was on and car ran rough/shut off on me. Also, the engine cover to the air box was incorrectly placed which melted on to the radiator hose. I called/texted with Andres that took my time up explaining how great he and the shop was and how the complaints above were impossible. They did text to bring the car back to correct/fix. Why would I return the car to a shop that failed me and made excuses? frustrating how hard it is to find trustworthy repair shops that get the job right the first time, at a reasonable cost. Why would this repair shop be more expensive than the dealer? hoping to work with my support and Andreas to find an amicable resolution. Car was taken to the dealer today to fix what they couldn't. UPDATE. Andres states he does not tolerate misrepresentation of his business but failed to provide an adequate response to my concern and understand what the actual core issues are. 1. I am missing a cover to the interior of my car 2. The check engine light is on after repairs done at his shop. 3. I did not return the car there due to working in healthcare and having a variable schedule. Also, lack of trust in their work. During my call just now he would not listen to any core issues and more interested in responding to justify not resolve. Hung up on me. What great customer service. Within minutes of sharing the problems I was experiencing with my 540i and answering a few follow up questions, Camille knew what was the issue and how to fix it. I don't know where to begin, so I'll just start by saying that their service was excellent from start to finish. Dignifi had provided me with repair financing on a motorycle a couple years ago, and I decided to find out if they would help with my car repairs. Luckily, this repair shop was on their list of approved facilities and I called to schedule an appointment. The shop staff was super friendly and I was able to provide them with all of the details I had for my financing. They made everything feel like a breeze. I pulled up to my appointment and my vehicle was on the lift being inspected less than 5 minutes from when I walked in through the door. They even offered a ride home while I waited for the repairs, which I declined since their waiting room is WELL air conditioned and their water is nice and cold. 20 minutes later, the shop listed the repairs that were required. Let me just say, I was given VIP treatment and they offered an excellent rate on the repairs that were necessary. I took my Mercedes GLC300 to this place since my extended warranty company gave as one which will save me $100 on the deductible amount. This is my biggest blunder of putting my car to get the turbo replaced. The manager got the approval for the works next day and I didn't ask for a loaner thinking it will take about two days. Then two days later he said he ordered the parts. Waited for his promised FedEx delivery never came as he promised. Then the parts arrived in about three days. Then he says after a week that he had to get a rubber gasket, which an experience garage would have ordered in one go. Then after about six days I couldn't manage without a loaner and he said my loaner hasn't come back. Then he went few time either going to answer phone or his collegue says I need to speak to the Manager and he is out. A another day passes and eight days later he gave a loaner car which was a gas guzzler. Now, I thought I will get my car and we had his loaner for approximately one week totalling sixteen days just to get the turbo replaced. I see lots of expensive German cars probably he cannot get them finished at a reasonable time. I should have put to Merc dealership and paid the rextra $100. This place doesn't seem to have sufficient proper technicians to get the job done at a reasonable time. I cannot comment on what he charged the extended warranty company but I asked him not to do the oil change since the quote was way too much. This is my first and the last time I will visit this place even the 1* I gave was too much for wasting lots my time waiting and making telephone calls. I am very unhappy with this place do NOT put your car here unless you are prepared to keep the car for weeks when it could be done in days. read more
