This cute little market was SO GOOD! The pastries were really good. There were samples and it smelled amazing. I got the almond pastry and then an apricot almond one. Both were great. The service was amazing. Worth the visit!!

I read up on the Bavarian Bakery which is on the edge of Leavenworth, entering from the Eastside. It's easy to get to and you don't have to fight for parking! Come EARLY, as the breads are warm! Great variety (I went around 9:30 am), though my pretzel was a bit on the harder side (will need to microwave it) - have heard mixed reviews on the pretzels, so maybe I just got one from a lesser batch. Was MORE impressed with the raisin bread! SO soft and had golden and regular raisins! Decently priced items! I would've gotten a bunch more items, but I was driving quite a distance today. Great place to try out and they bake their goods in store! Super friendly staff! Will go again when I'm in the area!

This place has great potential but means a little TLC and charm added

The pastries looked amazing, but didn't have much flavor. Hoping to try the breads next time. Overall, the service was fantastic, but The quality did not live up to it. The impression from the street is a little forgotten.

Be early for strudel as they sell out! So tried the Steziel (sp?) it not in the main tourist area but not a long walk to get there. Many free samples to taste their breads!!! The Oat is YUMMY!

Fresh bread on the edge of town. They have huge pastries and baked items including apple strudel, fresh pretzels, and danishes. I ordered an apple strudel ($5.75) and a Raspberry Custard Danish ($5.50). The apple filling seemed more like apple sauce to me but at least the crust was flakey. The danish was quite rich and maybe could have been a little more flakey. The snacks were delightful regardless. Worker was friendly and chatty in the morning. They take credit card with up-to-date POS system. This is mostly a grab-and-go spot located just off the main road. Grab your baked goods before heading out of town!

headed up to Leavenworth on recommendation trying to put some distance between me and the madding crowds. arrived to a town was full up with folks having similar ideas about getting away... so after a light lunch I admitted defeat packed it in, and cut my losses. but I wanted to get a loaf or two for the week ahead and since I left my car here while the manager made a few deliveries buying bread here was the right thing to do :-) picked an apricot danish for now plus a cinnamon bread and a cinnamon bread biscotti for later. accidentally ate the danish immediately when I stuck it in my mouth while fishing out my wallet... the cinnamon loaf was toast (lightly buttered) pretty quick and the only reason I have pictures of the biscottified bread is because I left it in the backseat when I got home only to discover it Tuesday afternoon... on the plus side it was still crunchily delicious at breakfast later in the week. yea! so if you're ever in town stop in and get a little something for later. way better than a refrigerator magnet and goes well with coffee black

Just outside of town is this bakery. They make amazing breads (and have free samples for tasting) I wanted strudel but they were out so I tried a delightful alternative Striezel. Dipped in dark chocolate in the ends and filled with a nut and raisin mixture, it was tasty. Very few tables to sit and eat at. Staff was friendly.

Bienenstich, cream went everywhere when we attempted to cut it. Notice none of it is still between the top and bottom half.

We used to make it a point to stop here on every trip to Leavenworth. Get our Bienenstich, and whatever yummy pastry they have. We haven't been there in a couple of years because we've always come into town late after they closing. No big deal. We stopped today, and got Bienenstich (Bee Sting cake), an eclair, a marzipan horn, and were given some pretzels as a freebie. The Bienenstich looked good in the case, but when we got to the hotel room to eat it the cream had started oozing out. I tried to cut into it (since they gave us two pieces that weren't cut apart. ALL of the cream came out beneath it, and it was very difficult to cut through the "cake" part. For those who know the cake is a yeast cake so it's a bit firmer than regular cake but this was way too hard. By the time I got through it and tried it, I had to scoop up cream to have with it. The cake literally tasted like dry bread, and the cream? It was like whipped cream with lumps in it. It was really unpleasant, and as this is my favorite thing to get in Leavenworth I was extremely disappointed. I'm German, and I've eaten a LOT of Bienenstich from not good to amazing. This is now the worst I've had. Moving to the eclair. The chocolate on top was bitter and tasted burnt. It looked like it had been brushed on and melted off. The cream was like the Bienenstich. Like whipped cream with lumps in it, not like the custard you would expect. The eclair itself tasted ok, but with everything else it ended up in the same place. Lastly the pretzel, which I feel bad about commenting on since we got it for free, but it was chewy and tasted burnt. Overall we were extremely disappointed, and I doubt we'll be back. The only upside was the cheerful person behind the counter who was very pleasant, and kind to us.

Grabbed a couple pastries and a loaf of rosemary potato bread on our way out of Leavenworth. The pastries we tried were so delicious and bread is amazing! The employee behind the counter was very informative and helped us decide what we wanted. We didn't get a pretzel but they certainly look the most authentic out of all the pretzels in town here. Will try that next time!

During peak times you may find yourself waiting in line for 20-30 minutes. The good news is the line moves quickly, and there's plenty to look at while you wait. The main line is for the incredibly tempting cookies and drinks, while a separate counter to the right is dedicated to food orders and is usually much shorter. Near the entrance, there are charming displays of gingerbread houses and detailed dioramas that serve as a fun distraction while you wait your turn. Once inside, the display cases are filled with an amazing variety of treats--cupcakes, cookies, cinnamon rolls, Linzer and gingerbread cookies, and many other delicious options. Everything looks so good it's hard to choose! We ended up ordering three cookies per person and happily stretched them out over the next few days. Before heading back to Seattle, we made one last stop to grab a to-go box for the road and for home. Totally worth it. Yummo! Also, there is a small Gift Shop all things Gingerbread.

I got the savory biscuit and it was delicious. Super flaky, buttery and flavorful. It also tastes freshly made. I got the lavender and honey coffee and that was delicious as well. Not too sweet, good balance with the honey. Super quaint but small indoor seating area and a large outdoor patio makes a good hangout spot. Theres also plenty of merchandise inside the coffee shop too, and all seem to be of great quality which is a plus. My favorite thing about this place is the business model. Gratuity is not expected. It's listed that the workers there get a living wage and a percentage of the daily sales. More a reason to support this local establishment.

The biscuit was surprisingly dry, I split it with my friend and we both thought it was mediocre. Maybe the Argonaut was having an off day, but it wasn't my fav way to start our day off in Leavenworth :(
