The good news is the line moves quickly, and there's plenty to look at while you wait. The main line is for the incredibly tempting cookies and drinks, while a separate counter to the right is dedicated to food orders and is usually much shorter. Near the entrance, there are charming displays of gingerbread houses and detailed dioramas that serve as a fun distraction while you wait your turn. Once inside, the display cases are filled with an amazing variety of treats--cupcakes, cookies, cinnamon rolls, Linzer and gingerbread cookies, and many other delicious options. Walking down the town's main road, Gingerbread Factory is one of the first whimsical storefronts that catches your eye. The owners also run Andreas Keller, the popular German restaurant just downstairs. The bakery has been around since 1988 and got a fresh remodel in 2011! The moment you step inside, you're transported to a storybook scene -- think fairytale cottage vibes with a faux tree, ornate wooden window frames, and cozy indoor picnic tables. The back room houses the main bakery counter, along with gingerbread houses, themed merchandise, and treats lining the walls. They offer cookies, cupcakes, croissants, ice cream, and more! - Coffee Chip Ice Cream -- one of my all-time favorite flavors, with bold espresso notes and rich chocolate chips. The Gingerbread Factory was an absolute must-stop during my trip to Leavenworth. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a beautifully decorated large tree on the right, with an inviting display of bakery goods straight ahead. It instantly puts you in a festive mood. There are a few tables available if you want to sit and enjoy your treats, but I was on my way to dinner, so this was more of a quick (but memorable) stop. We were lucky to visit when it wasn't too busy, especially since I had heard this place often has lines. The selection went far beyond just gingerbread. There was an array of baked goods including cheesecake, cookies, and mini cakes, along with a small coffee menu to choose from. Since I wasn't heading back to my hotel right away, I avoided anything that needed refrigeration and opted for a raspberry scone instead. I know... coming to the Gingerbread Factory and not getting gingerbread is a bit ironic but I couldn't help myself. The scone was delicious, and the fact that it was made the same day definitely made a difference. I'd absolutely come back to try the gingerbread next time and maybe enjoy it with a cup of coffee. BUT when we went back like 3 hours later, omg the line was like a 45 minute wait... the service was great at both times, considering how busy it was. The place itself was cute, great for photo-ops if it's not busy, and so cute, cozy. The chocolate chip cookie was TOP TIER. Omg the chocolate chip was so f good, I ate the whole thing in a spend of 1 minute lol. I usually dislike gingerbread but they actually taste good here. Ok for a gingerbread factory I was somewhat expecting more gingerbread but there were only 2 kinds of gingerbread cookies there- a heart one with vanilla frosting and then a naked (aka plain) gingerbread man. The rest are either sugar cookies or chocolate chip. I got the biscoff stuffed cookie and while biscoff on its own is pretty great this cookie just needed a little bit of salt to give it a good flavor. Have you ever had biscoff cookie butter with a honey pretzel? That kind of salt would've kicked it up a notch. Had to stop at the gingerbread factory on our trip to Leavenworth. When you walk in the first thing you see is a wall of gingerbread houses. Then you get in line to order. I got a gingerbread man and a hot chocolate (they make it with milk not water). The cookie was soft and delicious. Nice sitting area to eat and even do some work if you wanted. The employees were nice and quick. Is it overpriced? Probably, but it's not something you can have anywhere anytime and arguably this is the best bakery for gingerbread around so I thought it was worth trying. Love this place. We don't ever plan to but somehow end up coming here everytime we're in Leavenworth. Seems a little boutiquey inside, maybe a cross between a Leavenworth store and a chain cookie shop. Theres food items, like the biscuits and gravy special they were running the last time we were in, and drinks - including alcoholic - but I usually go for the sweets. For one, their cinnamon rolls are soft and thicc - just like how I like 'em. The gingerbread cookies are yummy, more sweet than gingery though I'd be cool with either way. Our favorite is the espresso frosted gingerbread cookie. They also make a spot on pink sugar cookie. The prices are fair, not like a Crumbl cookie where the name is more about your wallet and not the cookie. Everything we order here is delicious. Only critiques are that the line is always long (a good sign) but always quick, the better options are toward the register, and the floorplan there is very narrow. We were here for 2 days, stopped here both days. The first day, we went in late in the afternoon & there was a line, second time we went 30 minutes after it opened, no line. The only complaint is that they seemed to run out of things fairly quickly. We got three espresso-based drinks, one raspberry mocha (no raspberry flavor), a brown sugar cinnamon latte (just tasted burnt but could taste the cinnamon), and another cinnamon latte that had NO flavor - they evidently didn't add ANY flavor whatsoever.
