Got my hair cut yesterday by the owner. I have short hair. The haircut itself is basically a nice cut. However, there are clearly 3 separate stripes on the side where my hair is about 1/16" long. It looks like a bald spot! My friend gasped when she saw it. I didn't notice at the salon because he pulled the sides forward. I don't normally wear it that way. I went to salon in good faith and pointed out the problem. For an $80+ haircut plus a generous tip, I don't expect to have a bald spot in one side! He did apologize and told me it was "sculpted" to wear pulled forward and I should just wear it so! He said he would take care of me next time..... There won't be a next time.... I've been going to Bavaro for 4 years now and don't get my hair done anywhere else! Everyone at Bavaro is extremely nice and friendly plus they all care about making sure you are happy with your hair style. I have had my hair cut by Gino, Cesar, and Nick at the salon and each is an great stylist. I have very curly and thick hair so it was nice to find a place where the hair stylists are professionals and really know what they are doing. After the most recent time Gino did my hair it is now so much more manageable and takes me little to no time to style each day - which with really curly hair is important. It's really nice to have a style that works for me and looks good. After being quite a few places where my die jobs were messed up or haircuts turned out horribly it was nice to find a place I can really trust. This is by far the WORST salon i have ever been to. I received a coupon and decided to try it out. I ended up with the owner doing my hair. He kept aggressively telling me all that we were gonna do with my hair like it was his hair. I tried to nicely explain i already knew what i wanted and i was going to stick with that plus thats what the coupon was for, not quite interested in $200 plus in upgrade he said i needed. He got mad that i didnt accept his "hair needs diagnosis". While he did my highlights he stood in front of me and made me bend my head forward....akward! After all of his rude and strange behavior he finished with my blonde highlights, and rinsed my hair out but he refused to add conditioner to my newly bleached hair and said it would be a $20 charge. Then he handed me a comb to comb it myself and said if i needed a hair dryer there was one up front. I have never been so upset and embarrassed in my life. The owner is a real piece of work and shouldnt be in business! read more

I was recently in town for a wedding and came here to get my hair done. This was quite possibly the worst hair experience I have ever had. While we were greeted very warmly by the owner, Gino, when we walked in, this was probably the only positive to our time there. Shortly after asking what I wanted done ( I had a picture of an updo and showed Gino and the other gentleman that was working this day) I was told my hair was dry and damaged and needed to be washed. Now, I am not a hairdresser but isn't it typically better to do an updo on second day hair? Not only did he washed my hair but also pressured me into some sort of moisturizing treatment. Next he dried my hair and I am not quite sure how my hair actually dried since he rarely aimed the hair dryer anywhere near my hair. Next it was time to actually do the updo. Gino asked me again what I wanted and as I was pulling up the picture he said oh I know and don't need to see it. So he turns me around do I can't see what he is doing and goes ably doing my hair. When he asks me tot urn around and get up so he can finish my hair I told him I didn't like the part I could see. He did attempt to fix it and when he did he said "it's perfecto!" Let me tell you it was far from perfecto. I told him it was nothing like the picture I showed him and I wasn't happy. He proceeded to tell me that style work in my hair. I told him he could have told me that was the case and I would have come up with something else. When questioned or pushed back Gino very quickly gave me an attitude. Horrible customer service! Thankfully I was able to fix it somewhat when I got back to my hotel but I was not happy at all. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever! read more

No cape, just a small rubbery mat-like object was put on my shoulders and he asked me to stand up so that he could walk around and cut my hair. But throughout process, he added on services w/o telling me cost (even when I asked directly! Gino and Nick warmly welcomed me when I arrived to have my wig shaped--in preparation for upcoming chemo treatments. They couldn't have been more sensitive and supportive. My relationship with Bavaro Hair has two beginnings and no end. It all began when I was 12 years old and my girlfriends and I were walking around killing time before our movie. A friendly man named Gino, who is the owner of the salon, called my friends into his salon. He explained what we all needed to do to help our hair and offered to do our hair if we be his hair models. Well being 12 years old, we said no because we didn't know who he was, and we were self conscious teenagers that didn't want our hair to be touched. So the rest of the year we each had nicknames that Gino had given to us to describe our hair. So for example....I'd say "Hi dry or hi frizzy" to my friends. So flash forward to the year 2011. I had just gotten out of college and another salon's stylist convinced me to dye my hair which I had never wanted to do. I said yes for some reason and the lady said that I would think my hair was orange, but it is really golden blonde. Well let me tell you....it was orange! I freaked out, and they tried to fix my hair, basically processing it again, and the second time around it was awful as well. I didn't know what to do. No salon would touch my hair except for Bavaro!!! They were my lifesavers! I met with Terry, and she basically saved my hair. I have been going to Bavaro ever since! I would never let anyone else touch my hair except for Terry. They sit down with you and really listen to what you want before they do anything. Also, they've been featured in newspapers and magazines. Gino and his team have gone around the globe styling people's hair. I also appreciate them so much because they not only do amazing work at their salon, but they give back to people. They are big contributors to people fighting breast cancer. They put on full fashion shows with the money going towards breast cancer, and they have even worked with people with cancer going through chemo. They've also worked with women who are in shelters to help them look and feel gorgeous. Bavaro also makes their own hair products made from the finest ingredients, and they work wonders on your hair! I love how environmentally conscious they are because when I return my empty bottles, they re-use them and I get a reward for doing so as well. As I've been going there over the years, I'd have to say that the staff at Bavaro are like family. They make you feel like you are part of their family. Gino is always very cheerful, and they are all happy to see you. Terry always makes my hair look great! The other clients always seem pleased with their results, and many have been coming for years and years just like me. Some even fly out here just to get their hair done if they have moved. I get offered tea, coffee, and cookies all of the time. Sometimes Gino's wife Sara or Terry have brought their own baked goods for us to munch on which are so delicious! So overall, I would highly recommend Bavaro for all of your hair needs....I really don't know why you would go anywhere else..... read more

My experience at Bavaro was, hands-down, the worst experience I have ever had at a hair salon. I had scheduled an appointment for a highlight touchup and a trim but ended up with a 30-second snip of my ends and bleach being pulled through all of my hair. 3 hours later (including time under the dryer), I had to continuously turn down a service that I had not made an appointment for, and I bolted out the door to make a dinner reservation. The next morning, my hair was snapping as I tried to run a comb through it. In short, my hair was fried. After years of coloring my hair, I have never seen my locks in this condition. I actually drove back to my hometown in WI to see if my hairdresser could fix it, and she said all I could do was cut it. A year and a half of growing my hair, and I had to take off almost 6 inches. I will never go back to this salon again, nor will I recommend it to anyone. read more
