I went in for major back surgery. I was on the 5th floor. I have been in a hospital a few times in my life, 3 times for back issues. there is no words to describe how wonderful all the staff and my doctor and his staff was. I have never been anyplace where the staff was so attentive and caring from the time I walked in till 5 days later when I walked out,. considering what I just went thru , these nurse went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and my pain was under control I highly recomend and I sure hope that that anytime I need treatment . I get the privilege to be treated at Baxter Hospital. read more

this place is a literal joke, back in February they let me sit in the waiting room for 2 hours two different times bleeding having a miscarriage and wanted to ask me how I knew when I was holding my mucus plug in my hands and even passed more while being there. now today 09-08-26 they got called for my mother law due to having multiple seizures back to back had even 5 of them while being in the hospital, a contusion to her head and they want to discharge her at 2:00am? they only did a ct scan and gave her Tylenol and encouraged her to sleep when she could've had a concussion, considering her pupils were fixed. she had over five seizures over 10 seizures probably and they want to release her with only a CT? also, who medically with a possible concussion to sleep when we all know if you have a you're not supposed to go to sleep... this place is literally a fucking joke. they let a war veteran die... within 30 minutes of him was at the hospital? just back in 2025, even take the time to properly clean him up before letting us come back there never did lab work on him or anything just had a tube shut down his throat that wasn't even hooked up to anything. they're one of those hospitals of if you're dying don't go but if you need pain medication and an oh go because they'll give you what you want, but when other people come needing help they deny it. Just like a week ago my mother went in for labored, breathing, and having struggling breathing with a possible cracked rib that could've been splintering into her lungs. To take a druggie back first who had a fit over her hand, but her hand was fine by the way, but made my mother who was struggling to breathe wait two hours. and even when you tell the front person to breathe. I rate 1 for Chelsie And 5 stars for Jennifer First off Chelsie on 6th floor was very rude and showed no compassion for us. On the phone and in person We drove 12 hours to see a patient and we had the code and she was very very rude. ( it was like a power trip for her) She said the POA had to call first Before we could see or talk to patient. We had the code. Five stars here Next day, the new nurse Jennifer was very nice and showed a lot of affection and told us, as long as we had the code there was no turning the people away. So I think this Chelsie needs to have a talking too about being like this to guest. I talked to another person also visiting And said that Chelsie is very rude as well read more

I just had a horrifying ER visit - it took them 4 times of sticking me for them to draw blood and the pelvic exam was PAINFUL! They wanted me to do a biopsy, but I refused because of the pain I was already in. read more

My husband recently received great care in the ER following a bicycle accident. The ER doctor, all of the ER nurses and medical staff, and the on call orthopedic surgeon (Dr. Souder) were kind and professional and my husband received a timely diagnosis and treatment (which included surgery and an overnight stay in the hospital.) Do not go to this hospital I was in the ER for 5 hours I saw the doctor once and nobody checked on me I passed out twice and had multiple seizures the nurse had stuck me twice and blew both times and had to go get another nurse and not once did they even try the other arm and once they admitted me I'd have to press the call light multiple times for water or to go to the bathroom and I had to wait hours for either and the doctor blamed everything on anxiety and told me I need therapy and the doctor didn't communicate with the nurse at all 0/10 don't recommend this hospital read more

Our 16 year old granddaughter was visiting from out of state. She got very very sick. Took her in once. They where absolutely great. Got her feeling better.and got meds to help. But they didn't work she didn't improve. So took her back to ER. Sarah the RN/BSN in ER was our nurse again. Took great care of her. The doctor admitted her. The stay was very comfortable and they got her back on her feet. She says they saved her life!! Thank you ! read more

Baxter Regional appears to have a billing code they use quite regular. A9270-GY - This code is not covered by Medicare or insurance. The code has no reference to it other than misc. charge that is not listed. There have been times they say "self administered drugs" which I absolutely did not knowingly take a pill or any liquid. This hospital is horrible. The staff, especially the receptionists and secretaries are horribly incompetent and uneducated. They will LITERALLY let a patient die and not care. They never take responsibility for anything, roll their eyes at people like if they were children...completely ignorant. This place needs to hire professionals. I've been requesting a copy of my records for almost 30 days. The records department keeps telling me they will send me a link to the portal. I've sent 3 emails and made 5 phone calls but still haven't received anything. I need my tick fever records to support my Dr's referral to the infectious disease so I can be tested for lymes disease. I'm very disappointed and frustrated because my Dr's are waiting on me and I need medical attention. This has been very frustrating. read more

Worst hospital stay ever. Staff was incredibly rude. Doctor was worse than rude. I highly do not recommend. I left worse than I came in.

My daughter was very, very sick and I had to call and request her meds twice she was in so much pain she was crying. All I could hear in the hallway was a bunch of laughing and loud talking and carrying on until they finally came in and brought her pain meds in at 845 after taking them at 430ish that evening I am very displeased at the staff here at hospital. read more

I live 1+ hours away from Baxter & was extremely ill but I would not go to any other hospital but BRMC - not even any of the Springfield hospitals. I was admitted through BRMC ER with a diagnosis of MRSA, had 3 major surgeries in 4 days, was in isolation intensive care for 2 weeks. BRMC provided my wife with meals & - at night - a private room within eye shot of me in my room in intensive care. When surgeons were certain the danger of MRSA had passed, I was moved to a private room for the final week of my stay. A very large comfortable recliner was provided for my wife to share my room with me. I rarely become ill & have never required hospitalization but my wife has had a number of catastrophic illnesses & surgeries in her life. The two surgeons removing the diseased tissue from my leg, as far as I'm concerned, could not have been better. (I could easily have lost my leg or my life.) The physician doing the reconstruction of my leg, as far as my wife & I are concerned could not have been better. I was left with scars from my upper thigh down to my shin bone just above my ankle. But the infection was extensive requiring extensive surgery. My wife & I had photos of my leg before being admitted to BRMC & all through the recovery. We think my leg is BEAUTIFUL & are GRATEFUL to these miracle workers for all their skill, dedication & compassion. The employees at BRMC were "top shelf" as far as my wife & I are concerned. When the time came for me to be discharged to a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation for my leg, the orchestration of acquiring a suitable facility (distance as well as rating) went smoothly with the help of the after care coordinator. This catastrophic event in our lives has convinced my wife & I to be certain our physicians have admitting privileges at BRMC - even though we have to drive such a long way. BRMC was worth it, the care rendered by the physicians was worth it, my leg was worth it & our lives are DEFINITELY worth it. read more

OMG, the horror stories I could tell about this place. #1. Family members literally screaming in pain in their room and being totally ignored by every employee on the floor. #2. Press the call button for assistance and nobody ever comes, or comes by 40 minutes after you called. #3. All the nursing staff sitting behind the counter chatting and carrying on. None of them walking the floor and checking on patients. #4. Staff ignoring you when you walk up to the nurse's counter to ask a question, or act ticked off because you had the audacity to interrupt their story-telling and gossiping. Generally hospitals in small towns leave a lot to be desired, this one has expanded for there are a lot of retired people living here and for a small town is probably better than most.Admissions in the emergency room can be slower then you might think,they sometimes have waiting lines which is shocking for such a small town ! Once you get admitted to the ER you are generally well treated and they have plenty people on staff although you usually have to wait forever to actually see the ER doctor,the ER doctors are good as are most of the nurses. If you are admitted to the hospital you will get a private room,the nurses do their job and the food is pretty good.There doesn't seem to be a lot of doctors floating around,usually one floor doctor which I was never able to talk to about my mother.Like I said about the ER plenty of nurses but actual doctors seem scarce,it is like they leave everything up to the nurses and nurses aids who work their butts off ! I was STUNNED they discharged my mother after only four days for she had pneumonia and other complications,my brother and I felt they would keep her at least a week to ten days,she was in no condition to be leaving the hospital,she was super weak !!! They didn't do a chest ex-ray or blood work the day she left so they called us back to the hospital the NEXT DAY to do the procedures as an out patient, the test results were not good so I thought they would readmit her to the hospital but they didn't ! She was too weak and in such fragile health to bring her home so we put her in a rehap center at a local nursing home,that was a disaster for she died 10 days later.The care at the nursing home was marginal at best.She belonged in the hospital or with a 24/7 nurse to monitor her vital signs,the cost of the home nursing care is out of sight.I feel she might still be alive today if they weren't in such a rush to discharge her from the hospital !!!!!!! Billing is a nightmare,rude employees,they make mistakes and it takes an act of congress to get any charges removed from your bill ! read more

Had to wait over 2 months to get an appointment. I got to see the doctor for about 15 minutes. He told me to eat more fiber and come back in about a year. Baxter Regional charged me $265.96 for this "visit". I'll never go back!!! read more

PLEASE....know that not everyone feels like the last reviewer does! I have been treated at BRMC for Breast Cancer and had surgery there 3 times. All the rooms are private. I have NEVER been given better treatment. I am a volunteer Peitz Cancer Support House since my cancer in 2000 and we strive in every area to make every experience a positive one. No one or no place is perfect and sometimes you get what you give.....so know that our ratings at this facility are some of the highest in the nation so check it out yourself.... I have heard some stories about this place but every time I have stepped foot in this hospital I have been impressed over and over. If it wouldn't have been for this hospital 3 years ago, my brother wouldn't be here today. Being a family memeber I watched every step the nurses done to watch for mistakes and carelessness and I never once and I mean once ever seen what the first reviewer saw. The nurse never give my bother a change to press his light because they were always there to check on him. At one time I thought my brother way the only person in the hospital the way they carried on with him. No one in our family ever had to ask any thing for our brother. I think God for this hospital and the fine staff that work there. I think and my family things God every night for this hosptial and its staff. read more

I have nothing but good to say about our experiences at this hospital. My husband and I have both had surgery there, outpatient and in, and had great care, even with the radiation lab techs. The volunteers are also kind and caring and work well with employees. We have heard employees chit chatting, say in the pre-op area, and it was all pleasant and they were helpful to each other, not for our benefit, but quietly among themselves. My great uncle has just recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He was initially told by a doctor at Baxter Regional Medical Center that it was so fast-growing that it had already spread to his other internal organs and that it was too far gone for them to operate. He was devastated and literally began giving away some of his possessions to family members. My uncle went to see him and my great uncle, normally a very stoic man, started crying and said "At least I now have all my boys here with me" (my family just moved here a few months ago from Maryland). Based on what he was told by Baxter he was basically preparing for death. Then he goes back about two weeks later and is told "Oh, your cancer hasn't spread, it's just localized to the prostate, we can operate and remove it." About 180 degrees away from the previous diagnosis. No explanation for the change. Another uncle is overweight to put it mildly. Well I didn't want to say it but he's obese. Anyway last week he starts having shortness of breath and chest pains. My aunt rushes him to Baxter Regional Medical Center and with a dose of nitro glycerine he immediately recovers his breathing capability and his chest pains disappear. Common sense tells you this is because he just had a mild heart attack or was very soon to have one had he not been given the nitro glycerine. Well to make a long story short they keep him overnight, run about a dozen tests on him and their conclusion is that he is NOT having heart problems but instead it's something wrong with his esophagus. This is after having given him a shot of something similar to Nexium in his stomach which, had his problem been esophagus/acid reflux related, would have helped him. The shot did nothing. He said the only thing that helped was the nitro glycerine. Again, common sense tells you that it must then be a heart problem. But no, according to Baxter (after running a bunch of tests presumably to help defray the cost of their expensive MRI machine and other medical equipment) they conclude that it's an esophagus problem. My advice: go the extra mile and go somewhere else. I would NOT recommend Baxter to anyone. read more

Would not take my dog there.My mom was in the hospital for a month and the quality of service is crap agree with Jeff that had the earlier post,the nurses are horsing around all the time and not doing there job at all,when someone pushes the help button they need something,thank god I was there with my mom cause if it wouldn't of been for me and other family members she would of laid there for 30 minutes or more at times.They did not even get her out of bed for 2 weeks-movement is important to get better if you lay in the bed yes your health is going to decline and you are going to loose body mass-The emergency room is a joke,sit and wait,then go to a room and wait then the doctor comes in and spends 2 seconds with you and you get a bill for $300 when they didn't do anything-wth is this?I know the scam with the shots they give you one shot our of a big bottle that has several in it -you pay for that whole bottle and so does everyone else THAT IS WRONG read more

Since baxter regional bought out the pain clinic&tacked on hospital charges the costs have went through the roof.an epidural injection has went from700. To 2800 for 1 injection.same people/sameservice/same facicility.i used to only have to pay specialty copay-40. On my ins. Now it is billed as surgery & goes against my copay.my out if pocket 1400. Zero satisfaction after contacting billin& administration.national average for 3-injections is 2100. Total.i like the clinic but cannot afford it now read more

When I went for my procedure here I was scared to death of the IV. I begged and pleaded continually for them to give me the gas first but they refused and I finally gave up. The day I went in actually went well. That day this very vibrant IV tech they picked out to comfort me through the IV stick was so jolly, vibrant, and encouraging that she got me to let a nurse stick me with an IV which normally would have been impossible. I was so happy with this nurse that I asked her if I could have her again the next time I went in for a procedure. She told me that I would have to ask someone else if she could and I could request her to be it. I was already looking for some nice people that could give me language therapy and take up where my previous therapists, I had taken therapy from, in Abilene for three years left off. When I called the Speech Pathology Department I got a hold of a therapist I really liked and it was hard to convince her that I had a communication problem because I talked well to her. I explained to her how in many cases I do talk well but in sticky situations I am not very good at explaining things. I'm even better at just spitting out information than I am at carrying on a two way conversation. I told her that you had to get around me for a while to even notice. I told her I just wanted to start where these other people left off at. She finally told me she was the inpatient therapist and said she only worked with inpatients and I would have to call the outpatient department. I thought I would never get their number from her. Three of four phone calls later I got it. This secretary on their end did not understand. When I talked to her she said, "There's a lady and there's a man. You'll get whichever one is available." My wife went to explain to this secretary that I was afraid of male nurses because of how they treated me when I was a child and that was why I wanted a female therapist and that I wanted to meet them before I decided I wanted to take therapy from them. She finally said she'd leave her Speech Pathologists a note that we wanted to meet with them. Then, a few days later, the Director of Speech Pathology contacted me and sarcastically said, "My Speech Pathologists cannot meet with you! I suggest you get back with us in June and talk to us then!" He reminded me of my horrible 5th grade history teacher and acted like he had the wrong idea about me. I wrote all his therapists trying to explain my language learning disorder and autistic tendencies and explained my life from my childhood to the present trying to defend my character to them. I told them I had taken three years of language therapy from six female therapists where I went before and they were totally fine with me so I didn't understand what the problem was. This Director of Speech Pathology called me back and said, "I have here letters you have written to my Speech Pathologists! I'd like to ask that you not write any of my therapists! Can you do that for me? My Speech Pathologists cannot meet with you! I suggest you get back with us in June when you receive your Medicare and we can talk with you then!" Then I thought, "Oh no! What if he lies to my favorite IV helper about me and she turns against me?" I wrote my favorite IV helper begging her not to say, think, or do what some girls I went to college with said, thought, and did who were basing their strange statements toward me on my body language. I was taught to walk, talk, and act like people you would see in the Metropolitan Opera. Ever since I was taught to look like this, people would not leave me alone. It did not occur to me to tell her this is where I was getting my statements from. It was because I feared this man would lie to her about me that she would act this way. My 5th grade History teacher acted just like this man and tried to turn my 7th grade English teacher against me. I thought this man would surely do the same thing. We went to talk to this lady to explain this to her. She was supposed to meet us at 2:30 pm that day but at 2:20 pm these three policemen came along and frisked me in the hall, then took me to the basement to question me. I didn't know how to defend myself and didn't understand why I was being treated this way. We told these people previously I had autistic tendencies but did not know I had actual Autism. Two weeks later I was tested for Autism and found out I had it. I recently took language therapy for a whole year from a female therapist at my own hospital since this happened and she was totally fine with me. She also knows what happened and thinks it was absolutely ridiculous. Please never send me to this hospital again. read more
