The program is very well run and all of the staff are highly competent and dedicated. They also do a great job teaching music theory. What is most special about PGC though is that it is a family for the girls over multiple years. Many of the girls literally grow up within the chorus. When I see the senior girls graduate every year, it is a true celebration of sisterhood. I would recommend the PGC to anyone looking for a supportive and fun community of vocal music for their child.

My daughter started in repertoire for two years, then Allegra, and now Brava. I could not be happier with her progress, not only as a musician, but as a young woman of character. She's had an opportunity to develop as a soloist, and to develop her range from soprano through alto and I appreciated how her current teacher, Mr Skaff, challenges her to push herself. She was getting quite comfortable singing melodies as a soprano, and now has to sing harmony parts as an alto which I can imagine is challenging if you are new to it. I love hearing about her class sessions and the things she learns. I feel so grateful to the chorus for hanging on through a tough three years now of COVID. Unfortunately, my daughter had to miss some time in chorus because as a nurse working in the hospital, COVID was the nightmare we prayed would never happen but did. I was overwhelmed and so was my family. I am so thankful to the director Karyn Silva for giving us a leave of absence during that time so I could be there for the patients and the staff in the midst of that crisis and not stress about pushing my daughter on zoom. I will be ever grateful for their compassion and support. They welcomed my daughter back with open arms and never hesitate to let me know if she needs to improve or work on something. The musicianship books that the students work on train them thoroughly to read and understand music. I am truly pleased about that as there is an audio component and books do get checked and reviewed regularly by staff. The other wonderful thing is that they do have a uniform exchange so you can keep on exchanging a uniform in a different size as your singer moves up in sizes. I must say I have greatly appreciated that especially in these tight economic conditions. All I've had to worry about is some tights and the occasional black dress shoes. That truly cuts costs down for me. it also makes me feel like we're doing something good for the environment because these clothes do get gently used for a very long time, not just discarded. If you're wondering whether this is the right place for your daughter, come attend the end of year concert. It is a wonderful time to see, and hear what the graduating girls are planning, what universities and careers they're moving on to pursue, and you will be able to envision your own daughter and see if this is where you want her to be. This is what I did, and I knew right then and there that is exactly what I wanted my daughter to look and how to comport herself. Every year I marvel at the lovely girls that move forward, whose voices and talents give me chills, how they keep themselves neatly groomed, respectful of the dress code, respectful of the audience and their choirmasters. We were here to watch Willy Wonka. We could sort of see the band working hard under the stage, which fascinated the little ones. The show was nicely organized to accommodate the short attention span for the kiddos. If possible, you might want to bring the kiddos for a bathroom break before the show. Intermission is rather short and the end of the show was a little crazy for everyone rushing out. No food nor beverage is allowed inside the center. I had to do a separate run to drop off the snacks. I was very surprised to see the young elementary schoolers behaving so well sitting through the entire show without food nor water. In addition to the restroom challenge noted above, parking could be tricky. We got lucky to park about a block away on the side of the street. It was a good experience overall.

After booking the through their booking system Facilitron, I got an email from Paul Rudy Chapman saying facilitron does not do a good job and the quote and deposit you submitted is wrong. So I asked for an updated quote. He took 10 days to send the quote which was 3 times the original. After asking why he said that's the way it is. He put everything possible on there to charge me. I didn't need any light technician but he still forced me to put it there. No option. Then a week later, he mentioned we are moving away from Faciltron to Civic Permits site. You need to submit your application again. I said that's fine as long as I get the date booked. When I tried booking from the new site, it had issues and could not let me book. So I asked him to help. Rather than helping he said "oh it's too late. I can't promise the resources. I am going to cancel your booking and return the deposit. " He cancelled my booking a week before my event where artists are already here from India. Tried calling him 1000 times but he never picked up the phone. Even before he never picked. Long story short, highly highly unreliable theatre manager. Don't even know how they manage events when they can even manage a booking. Stay away.

My daughter enjoys the Monday classes. We also started the Saturday classes which I have to get her warmed up to. The instructors are good, they do their best I don't have an outrageous high expectation, its hard enough to be a teacher yet, it's even harder to be a teacher to children because not all kids have a long attention span. Im happy that I found this new dance family for my daughter. We plan to be with them for a long time.

Manuia is family. I started my daughter at Manuia when she was 3 and right before the lockdown. I…read morewas going to pull her out when COVID happened, as when they started virtual classes I thought it was not going to be worth it, but I am so glad I let her stay. It was a perfect extra curricular for her during lockdown and she learned so much virtually. They had virtual showcase and the kids learned the dances just though the screen and to me that was amazing. Teachers Fue and Jackie are very patient to the kids. Now that Manuia has been open in person, they were able to do in person shows lately, one of which was in Chase Center for the Warriors Polynesian Heritage Night. That was a very memorable experience for my daughter. Not only that she's learning different dances, coming out of her shell and is more confident, but Manuia is like a family to us. She's making new friends and the amazing team: Auntie Camille, Uncle Tommy, lovely teachers Fue and Jackie and the rest of the Manuia teachers and drummers are very welcoming and talented in more ways than one.

All of the alakai are experienced dancers with many coming from Hawaii and have competed in the Merrie Monarch. I am especially pleased with the keiki class for my little one who is learning much of our culture and enjoying the feeling of being a hula dancer. E ola mau na hula.

I was so happy to discover that 10+ years later, they were still together and active! Their website has many different samples of their music. http://www.citylightsband.net/ We chose them because they have a huge repertoire of music to play from, and a very strong male & female vocalist. They were able to play bosa nova jazz music during dinner, which made the wedding so much more elegant and festive. My husband really wanted to add some brass to their 6 piece band. Barry, the band leader, was very easy going, and fun to work with-- not to mention his great sense of humor! He helped Emc the night. We added a sax and a trumpet, which made the band sound fantastic! We chose "At Last" as our first song-- which everyone was so impressed with. Thank you City Lights Band! BTW, the band members live all over the bay area. The band leader, Barry, lives near Santa Rosa. They perform all over the bay area, and all over California!

Peninsula Music Together is such a fun and welcoming place for little ones to explore music. Plus, the themed semesters keep things fresh--you don't repeat themes for three years. The teacher we have is amazing and gets where kids are developmentally--whether they're still putting instruments in their mouths, running around instead of sitting, or having the occasional meltdown, it's all handled with patience and understanding. The vibe is relaxed and supportive, making it a great way to introduce kids to music without pressure. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun and engaging music class.
