I had a strange odor in my house last week and I couldn't figure out where it came from. The trash was taken out, Lysol was sprayed, windows were opened, and yet the odor persisted. Then flies started appearing. The flies seemed to have been coming from the fireplace. That's when I suspected something might have died in the chimney. So I called Bay Area Chimney Sweep and Dale came out right away. Dale knew immediately what was going on and charged $120 to exam and cap the fireplace and also removing the source of the odor- a dead squirrel. We called to get our chimney cleaned for gas logs we were planning to buy. Was told they sold them too, would put a set on the truck and if we didn't like them we didn't have to get 'em. They showed up, the logs looked great and the price was better than anywhere else we'd shopped ( with installation)! I called about a leak near my chimney, they were very prompt and came out the same day I called. They were able to fix my problem and were great to work with. I also hired them to install some gas logs in my fireplace. They did a great job, I get lots of compliments on them on the rare occasion I get to use them in Texas. Five plus stars!!! I had a loose brick and needed some mortar around a few bricks in my firebox as well as a chimney inspection. The team showed up on time, did a great written inspection, were professional, pleasant and did a wonderful job. Spoke to someone there, and they were busy and said they would call back in 20 minutes. Never called back. Called again the next day, and left a message, no returned call two weeks later. Sent an on-line message, and still haven't heard back! Business must be good, or they better get some better management! We called Master Services today, and they're coming out next Monday. read more
