While the technician was professional, the estimate they gave was outrageous. The technician said I needed a new evaporator coil. If you look online, you'd be hard-pressed to find one for more than $1,000. He mentioned it would take two technicians and six hours to complete the job. Even if we assume the technicians charge $100 per hour (which is a stretch), that brings the labor cost to $1,200, and the total so far to $2,200. Let's add a 50% markup for the company, which brings the total to $3,300. That's still high, but they quoted me $4,980! Obviously, I shopped around and found a much more reasonable estimate--nearly 50% less from a reputable company. The bad business practice here is charging nearly $100 for the diagnostic, knowing the estimate was outrageous. You could literally build a business around giving inflated estimates with the sole intention of collecting diagnostic fees.

They all were well versed in everything they were doing, knowledgeable, and had a hell of a lot of hustle. Accidents happen, and I get it. My experiance dealing with Jose and his team during the installation was just as great. My condenser unit was on a small balcony on my 4th floor and the evaporator coil/air blower unit, Furnice were in the attic above the 4th floor. Jose was able to line up a crane and replace the old unit and install a new unit the same day as the qoute. The entire team was very professional and completed the work on time. My install was a week ago and everything has been working perfectly. My new unit is so quiet and I am noticing less humidity in the house as well. Stephan called as I was leaving the Post Office and he agreed to wait until I got home. Stephan quickly diagnosed the problem (failed capacitor) and had a replacement in hand. He explained the cost, which was more than fair. Stephan quickly installed the replacement and tested to insure it was working properly. He went inside and checked and adjusted the thermostat at no additional charge. High quality work at a more than fair price. I'll definitely use this provider in the future.

I explained that I was unaware that Comfort Squad was bought out by Mr. Reliable, so I called them for a service because my drain from the hvac drip pan appeared to be draining quite a bit from the hose in the attic. I have a service plan with Comfort Squad, so I called them to see if there is a bigger problem or a clog. The service tech came for 5 min and said you need a plumber because your sink on the other side of the house is draining slowly and that is probably the issue. Ultimately, that may be the issue, but as I said the tech was here maybe 5 min. He then states the cost is $50.00. I said for what. You have been here 5 min. I state I have a service plan from Comfort Squad, even at that point he still does not point out that Comfort Squad was bought out and we don't use their service plan. He said, I will let the office know. So then the office calls me and states that I have a charge of $50.00. I explain, I had a service plan, and that the tech was here for 5 minutes or less. So I say, go a head and invoice me, I think this is BS but go ahead and invoice me. The dispatch manager then tells me how they are no longer Comfort Squad and I asked why haven't you sent out a notice to all of the past clients of Comfort Squad and let us know what changes to expect. He then states, "well we can not come out for any new services until the $50.00 is paid." This is where I felt insulted because I already requested the invoice and said I was going to pay, why are you telling me if I do not pay..." Unfortunately, I am extremely dissatisfied with this entire process. I listened to their recommendations and had them perform the services they suggested and WOW what a difference in temperature!! All of the employees we have met or spoke with are very kind and helpful. They offer discounts on services, if you are subscribed to their yearly heater and AC checks and it has paid for itself already. Moving and adjusting to a new home can be stressful, but now my AC and heater function are not one of them. I know they will keep my equipment running and safe for years to come. Professional, respectful, and clearly doing their best. My issue is entirely with the owner. I was sold an $8,000 two-ton, two-speed unit to service a roughly 600 sq ft master bedroom and bathroom. Even with my limited HVAC knowledge, I knew the unit was oversized. But the owner was extremely confident and assured me it was the right solution. It was not. The system has been a complete failure. Humidity regularly exceeds 60% RH, and trying to correct this has turned into a drawn-out mess. And the unit itself is only half the problem. The other half is the owner, Rey. Because the system wasn't performing as promised, I had to repeatedly call the company to inspect it. That is not my fault. I was sold a product that does not do what it was sold to do. During these visits, his own technicians told me that the owner referred to me as an "annoying customer." They also questioned why this particular unit was ever recommended for such a small space in the first place. I understand I was working within a budget. What I don't accept is being sold a poorly suited system just so the company could hit a price point. What made things worse was Rey repeatedly insisting that I demanded RH in the 50s. I have zero recollection of ever saying that. When I pushed back and pointed out that 50s is not the only acceptable or realistic target, he became defensive and sarcastically suggested that maybe he "isn't an expert" and "doesn't know what he's doing." He also claimed he has the same unit in his own home and that it works great. That comparison is meaningless. His home is far larger than a 600 sq ft space. The final straw was when they came out to run tests and told me they would return a week later. Whatever adjustments were made actually made things worse. Humidity began spiking into the 60s and 70s. I reached out to Rey directly and was completely ignored. I genuinely feel bad leaving this review because the technicians were solid, and they are the only reason this company isn't getting an even lower rating. But the way this situation was handled at the ownership level was insulting, dismissive, and unacceptable.
