My doctor was great. BUT ive had two procedures here and both times have had issues. They do not know how to do IV's. Both times it took a couple of sticks before they got it right. The last time was the worst when they blew the vein in my hand and now two weeks late the back of my hand is sitll black and blue. Also, though I had receipts with proof that I had already fulfilled my deductible they made me pay it again anyway in order to proceed with the procedure. NOW they owe me a refund and I feel certain that will be a fiasco as well. I will NOT have another procedure at this facility. read more

Incredibly HORRIBLE. Don't walk; run from this place! I made an apt to find out what this horrendous pain I was experiencing. I went through all the details & she gave me zero advice. Dr. Khalid gave zero craps. Cold as ice. Just constantly saying "Uh Huh." She said she needed for me to have a colonoscopy done; which I cannot have done because of a recent surgery. So they ordered the colocleanse. Waited 2 weeks for a follow up apt & when I walked in she said she didn't get the results yet. Keep in mind, that's what this follow up was for. Avoid! They demanded I pay the full amount up front for my procedure, which I did. When my insurance paid, they owed me a certain amount back. They said that refund would take 4-6 weeks. It's been 12 weeks and still no refund. They agree on what they owe me, they just can't seem to write a check. Apparently, they made a mistake entering something into a portal, so now I'm still waiting for my check after 12 weeks. It's almost been 13 weeks now and I still can't get a clear answer as to when I can expect this check back. The office manager, Alice, handles multiple locations and no one knows when she will be there. This is extremely poor customer service. If I hadn't called, not sure they would have ever paid me. Keep your eye on them, they will take your money. Don't let them do it. Call them and demand they pay you what they owe you. read more

Although I didn't have problems with my procedure, I was billed twice and I called multiple times to get my refund because I paid twice I can't get my money back I wouldn't recommend to anyone I can't get billing to call me back, but they had no problem taking my money when they called to take it I can't trust a company that won't answer the ten voicemails I left I even called my bank to get my money back and Wells Fargo was unable to get it back either read more

I saw "Dr" Jafri beginning at the end of May due to extreme stomach issues and pain, he sent me for CT Scan with contrast, performed a colonoscopy and an endoscopy then Jafri proceeded to tell me "you have constipation". i kept telling him "no! Something is very wrong" who has constipation for 3 months straight especially since I had already informed him that I mostly have diarrhea! 3 months and 3 doctors/hospitals later I was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic cancer that is now inoperable due to the fact that Jafri hasn't a clue what he is doing OR flat out doesn't care. DO NOT GO TO THIS FACILITY! Go to an ER immediately (not Houston Methodist), your life depends on it. read more

First - the cost. I was told a procedure would cost $667 at the time the doctor ordered it. A week before the procedure, after purchasing a $40 prescription for the procedure, I receive a call saying that no, the actual cost is $1,512.42 and the $667 is the doctor fee - After insurance deductions! OUTRAGEOUS! This is more than a mortgage payment for a routine procedure. I have now experienced the ole bait 'n switch scam as applied to a medical office. Perhaps Dr. Mani should use the money to hire more staff to answer the telephones also, as they let the calls go to voicemail and do not timely return the messages. read more

The doctors are great, but they have a new phone system and no one picks up the phone. You can only leave a message. You are lucky if they call you back within 24 hours. It is very disorganized and confusing. Some of the medical staff are not empathetic towards patients and make a lot of mistakes and do not apologize. Even though I have been going to this clinic for over 10 years, I CANNOT RECOMMEND THEM NOW. If you have an emergency, you cannot get in tough with anyone right away. Dr. Jafri has been a kind, knowledgeable gastroenterologist until today but the office staff needs some work. Have used the portal to contract office- no reply. Call and leave messages many times but no reply. I end up driving up to the office because my prescription needs refilled or insurance needs authorization for medicine because they won't contact you back. The first time, it took 9 days to get a refill because no one would contact me and I was out of medication. I had to go to office to get them to send it to the pharmacy. Second time I called from out of state. It took many, many days for anyone to contact me. Third time it took the pharmacy calling because insurance needed authorization. After several days and no response, I messaged through the portal and got no response. I called, left messages, and no response. I drove to office to get it taken care of. I again went without medication for many days until I drove to office and was given sample packs until the authorization was completed. It was only done because I went to office. I made today's appointment then to see if I could get a different medication that was easier to refill. In the office today, they (Dr Jafri and his assistant) try to convince me that I never sent messages through the portal or left phone messages. I consider this gaslighting because the office staff isn't doing their job. I tried walking out of the exam room today because I was upset about them trying to convince me that I hadn't messaged through the portal or called and left messages. Dr Jafri tried to stop me from leaving twice. The second time he put his hand around my arm and tried to direct me back to a chair in the exam room. I told him sternly I was leaving. I also said I would rather not take medication rather than be treated like that. He let go and I walked out. Dr. Jafri was recommended to me by my UTMB primary care provider but I will now see a gastroenterologist through UTMB. read more

The business office does not coordinate well with BCBS medical insurance. Rather than communicate any insurance issues with the patient, this business has their own collection agency that comes into the picture about a month after the colonoscopy. The billing office Never calls back and when there is a call back it's a disrespectful and unprofessional person that pressured me for to pay more out of pocket even though my insurance says it is paid in full and that I owe nothing. I paid a large amount but doubt I will get my refund. I would not recommend this clinic due to the business practices. read more

Second time here today. Employees are always rude. Of the five people I met on my first visit, the only one who introduced themselves was the physician but he couldn't be bothered to make eye contact from that point forward. Every single person who spoke to me in the exam room (4 people) sat with their back to me as they typed on the computer. None ever turned around to make eye contact. I would take good patient/provider rapport over a clean office and ease of scheduling any day! I do not recommend this facility unless you have no other options. read more

This is the worst clinic ever! They tell you show up at 5:30am, but don't open until 6am. They are there, but make you stand in the hall until way after 6am. Listen to what I'm about to say any time that you go in for colonoscopy with no diagnosis it will pay to 100% but once the doctor go in there and finds any kind of legions or polyps it will become diagnostic you will have to come out of pocket with your deductible and your coinsurance you will also get a bill from the anesthesiologist and you're gonna get another bill from the path ology. I do advise you to please call the anesthesiologist and the pathology , Before you have a colonoscopy because a lot of they are out of network with your insurance and you will get a very large bill. read more

The staff is not very accommodating and like to order around customers and their ride. Their service seems acceptable. The billing department is another story. The upfront payment is reasonable. Afterword, keep an eye on your credit card. We sent in a payment after receiving a bill and then they charged the credit card for the amount on the bill and then added another $100. I called with a question about a reciept that was not annotated on the billing. They only answered a question I didn't ask. Not the one I did ask. Then I persisted and was hung up on. Waited 2 hours on the day of my procedure with no call/text before time to notify us of the 2.5 hour delay. Procedure was supposed to start at 10:20 AM and did not begin until 2.5 hours after. This is with no food or drink before and only fluids the day before, most doctors would not perform procedures this late in the day due to fasting. This is not the first time we have had to wait over an hour. People were not nice in their communication about the delay. read more

I had my first and last colonoscopy by Dr. Mather. She perforated my colon which then caused one of my lungs to collapse. Has to be sent hosp by ambulance and had to have emergency surgery. Was in the hosp for 7 days. All she wanted was for me to come back and get another one so she could finish it. I then wound up with c-dif and was so sick gr that. Cost me a lot of money and missed a lot of work! Will never have another one!! I do not recommend her at all!!! read more

Once star is one star too many. BAHEC was a horrendous experience. I took my wife for a rather routine outpatient procedure, but one for which she had a great deal of 'first time jitters', not being one to favor hypodermics, IV's and whatnot. I therefore took a whole day off from work, since I have been through this several times, in hopes that my presence would help encourage and comfort her while she was waiting to go in. When she was called in to be prepped in pre-op, I was told in no uncertain terms that I was 'not needed' and that I would be called if I ever was. I was left to wait in the waiting room until the procedure was over, and still was not taken to see my wife until the 'consult' with her doctor, and only then because I insisted on seeing her before being directed out the back door to bring the car around, like a lackey, not the one paying the medical bills. I found the staff to be rude and their pre/post op visitor policy to be ridiculous. What I saw of bedside manners was non-existent. In short, this place is a factory, hell-bent on maximizing production, and no way in business to provide the most excellent patient care available. I have been through 20 surgical and endoscopic procedures over the past 50 years, and never once have had staff at any facility prevent me from seeing my loved ones prior to or immediately out of a procedure, so long as I was not in critical care. In short, I was treated like livestock, referred to as 'ride for patient-x', and made to feel like 'the rabble' simply for wanting to see my own wife. I will never subject another family member to stepping one foot inside of this place again. I'm new to the area and need a repeat colonoscopy. I went in February for a consult in advance of the procedure. Waited 2 hours and they finally said Dr Jafri was stuck in traffic on 45 from major accident. I asked to see a PA at least vs wait longer just to get scheduled for the procedure. I had foot surgery in the meantime and delayed the procedure so I'd have it while on leave of absence for my foot. Had to go back for a consult since more than 3 months since last visit. This time I had total wait of 1.5 hours "since the PA is out". All in all, the procedure was done quickly and efficiently at the associated surgi-center down the hall. Great things about them. And, Dr Jafri was patient and kind when I finally saw him at 2nd appt and before the procedure. They just need to do better with scheduling and keeping patients advised vs me having to ask how much longer and "what's happening". read more

Awful. Paid 50% at time of service. Set up and signed agreement for 3 monthly payments beginning January, but facility charged my account as soon as I walked out the door. When I call to question the policy and procedure they could care less. They don't want to help, they want me to call the company that withdrew my money. If the company they use for billing has made a mistake with one of their patients the least they can do is make the call. But no, can't ask for good customer service. She wouldn't even give me her name. So I call the toll free number that has no idea who I am. So unless you want to get ripped off I wouldn't recommend this facility. read more

I am not a patient here and will not be in the future. I had wanted to set an appointment so I contacted them via their website. A lady called me around 4pm the same day, which is great, but when we got disconnected I tried to call back. The lady who answered when I called had somewhat of an attitude with me. I had to step outside because I was at work and get poor signal in the building. She asked what I needed, I told her I got disconnected with the previous lady and did not know her name. She had only asked me what I needed, she never said a name. So while I was outside a huge 18 wheeler drove by and she said to take her off speaker, and I had replied you are not on speaker sorry a huge truck just drove by, sorry, and she proceeded to laugh at me and said "okay....?" in a very rude tone. Then she goes, anyway what do you need? So, I said, you know what, never mind. Goodbye. I will not be doing business with rude people and rude doctors, which I have read in the previous reviews. read more

My experience at Bay area Gastroenterology was Horrible! Dr. Nikhil Inmdar was the worst I waited an hour and ahalf in the lobby, When I finally went back to see the Doctor he stayed in the room with me for 5 minutes Literally!! Gave me some antibiotics which I already had from my Family Doctor. No bed side manners what so ever, and scheduled to see me a month later!! Which I paid a copay for that visit. A month later I go back but they won't let me see the Doctor untill I pay a $20 copay, because I wanted to see him before paying I'm not paying to see a Doctor for 5 minutes that tells me absolutely Nothing!! I still could not see the doctor untill I paid $20. So I did he came in letting me know that if I was unhappy with him their are Lots of Gastroenterologist I can go to!!! After I had already paid my copay?? Wow he will Never get another dime of my money... So please Everyone Find another specialist he's all about the Money Not the Patient!!
