Just had my left knee replaced here by my Orthopedic Doctor. If you want quality care for any kind of medical procedure this is the Hospital you need to come to! I have a really great Orthopedic Doctor and he does his procedures out of this Hospital. I'm fact the Hospital is owned by the doctors and they all want you to be cared for in the proper way from check in to check out! From the time you check in everything goes like clockwork. If you are supposed to be here at a certain time, from the time you check in everything starts rolling according to schedule! There are no long waits here! Once you check in and get your wrist bands and sign your paperwork within about 15 minutes the ball starts rolling. The Pre-op nurses come get you and take you back you get dressed for your procedure and the start your IV. They then let your wife out husband comeback and stay with you until they are ready to take you back. Your Anesthesiologist will come and introduce himself and explain what he is going to do. Your Doctor will come and talk to you and verify what your having done. When they are ready they start to roll you back and start the anesthesia. The next thing you know your in recovery for a short while and they bring your spouse in to be with you then shortly take you to your room! The nurses on your floor will come and introduce themselves as you have a nurse and a nurses aide. They take extremely good care of you and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and give you your meds at the proper time, check to see if you need water and ice or whatever you want, sprite, coke, etc.... they will come in about every hour or two to check your vitals and see if you need anything. Put new ice packs in your your wrapping for swelling. Change your bandage or whatever needs to be taken care of. Someone from the Hospital Bistro will come take your order for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as you have quite a few choices from the Bistro Menu! I will say their food is better than some restaurants you may have been to!!! Everyone here is very caring as to your needs!!! They have a selection of Doctors that work out of here that cover anything that might be ailing you! Doctors of the Heart, Orthopedic for Hips, knees, or shoulders, Urology, they have their own Rehab Department and much more. The people here are very experienced in their particular jobs and are very good at doing it and very outgoing and Attentive to patient needs. I would not go anywhere else. I've had three different procedures performed here and everything has always went very well!!! read more

I had an ACDF surgery in October of 2025. The surgery went well but the physical therapy is where the problem is. It was December 23rd, 2 days before Christmas when I missed an appt. and they charged me $60!!!! The lady said it was "hospital policy". Mind you, I attend physical therapy twice a week, so I'm there often. That was a bad business move, and even worse patient care practice.They have taken advantage of me while I was still vulnerable from surgery! I cancelled all future appointments so, they got their $60, but lost the thousands of dollars they'd receive through my insurance for my continued care. I really needed my PT so I will go to UTMB or Methodist hospital for all future appointments. This is a warning to all who choose any doctor or service through Houston Physicians Hospital. They will charge your card for any missed appointments. Do not recommend! **Edit to add: She initially said the fee was $50, but charged me $60. The copay for the visit was $10. I'll be contacting my insurance company as well to let them know I was charged a copay fee for an appointment I did not attend. read more

Ultrasounds are not accurate. The quality of care is low. The customer service is poor. I cannot recommend this hospital.

beware of the imaging department! very incompetent i was supposed hv ct scan w contrast done. my paperwork said i need vein finder im difficult stick. 3 nurses tried yesterday w no vein finder to put iv in..i was poked over 10 times!! they said they only have 2 vein finder people there but they gone. so they were poking my arms in spots i know don't hv veins. we left came back this morning said they had vein finder arranged. we got there and they guy said no orders for vein finder and he went looking for it over 30 minutes. he wanted to try to re stick i said both arms 12 sticks blown swollen badly. we told our dr what happened he was very upset. so his office is finding me another facility where they are competent to do a simple iv w vein finder. i was in tears it hurt so bad. had to ice my arms. ridiculous. so if you have a hard time w iv in veins don't use this place. very unprofessional!!! a nightmare. i was shaking there today. we went to dr he said he wont use them. read more

I've had 4 procedures at this hospital and the care has been excellent. The nurses and extremely nice, caring and attentive to your needs. The hospital/surgery waiting area is very clean. They have a coffee and snack bar for people waiting on their loved ones....when it's not Covid. 2 of my procedures I had to wait a long time and was not informed of why. The other 2 were right on time. I am very big on customer service. I believe that if you are running behind you should update the patients. I completely understand things happen, but it's courtesy to let us know you are running behind. The anesthesiologist are great. They make you feel at ease. I would have another procedure here if I have to have another one. It seems more family like than bigger hospitals. read more

Poor communication between the office staff and billing. Not valued as a client. Received PT treaments as a self-pay probably 60-100 times at $100 each. Paid cash every single visit. Got a bill for $100 for a visit October 2020. Received at least 20 tratments after and office staff never said I had a balance on account. Call and inquire on bill in July and August 2021 and no help from office or billing. No ownership or accountability. This error was likely on their end and I wasn't even offered $20 off for the hassle. I paid the silly balance of $100 but the principle is that since I likely spent $6,000 out-of-pocket and paid cash upfront each visit but no one was willing to consider or look into a strange bill, it's worth noting the place doesn't care about the customer and/or they have organizational issues between departments. I would not recommend this provider. read more

I've had two procedures at this facility since April. I won't have any further procedures as they apparently cannot come to an agreement on contracts with Blue Cross Blue Shield which is my insurer. They are in the middle of an add-on construction project. They're still pretty much locked down as far as covid policies. Surgical patients are not allowed to have anyone with them. The reception area is warm and dimly lit unlike a sterile feeling, typical hospital. The reception workers are polite but not exactly friendly. I encountered several nurses on each of my two visits. Of all of those nurses, they're were only two that I didn't care for as they rushed me or were just short in speaking. I especially did not like the fact that I was rushed to be released shortly after my both procedures. I'm not sure if that was the doctor's decision or the hospital or a combination of both but it was extremely miserable!! Especially my second surgery which was a major surgery. From the time my doctor called my husband to inform him that my surgery was finished until the nurse called my husband to tell him I was ready to be picked up was about an hour and a half. I was completely out of it, nauseous and dizzy and yet they still wheeled me out to my husband's vehicle as I could barely stand. I'm not sure who makes those decisions but that is twice now this hospital has done that to me! What is the harm in letting a patient wake up more from surgery?! The nurse I had prior to my surgery told me how nice the recovery area was but I wouldn't know as I was never brought there. The facility across the street from the hospital that does the pre-surgical work up doesn't have some of the friendliest people working there either. The woman that took my vitals prior to this surgery was just plain cold! How does this person work in healthcare?! I also really dislike the fact that they put a hospital bracelet on during your pre-surgical appointment and you aren't allowed to take it off until after your surgery. They make a point to tell you if you take it off then your procedure will be canceled. My first pre-surgical appointment was over a week before my procedure. I had to wear that orange bracelet around for a week. Other hospitals aren't forcing their patients to do this. I'm happy I was in the care of some great nurses! But I'm also grateful that I won't be having any further procedures here. read more

I had a shoulder repair done here and my experience was overall a fantastic one. The facility is clean, though you can tell it's older, the staff was so nice, the nurse I had was very kind, and the anesthesiologist was phenomenal. She could tell I was nervous and made me feel so much more at ease about the whole process. I didn't even feel the nerve block which was awesome, I was super nervous because they have to find it with the ultrasound to make sure they're in the right area. She advised me of the risks, but she was so easy to trust and it was done fast with steady hands. Here comes the however. I am extremely allergic to hydrocodone. I had a separate hospital bracelet that listed it by itself as well as it being on the main hospital bracelet. I don't know where the mix up came in, but that's the pain medication that was sent to my pharmacy after surgery. I caught it shortly after we left and called immediately. First I was told that the nerve block would get me through the night and they would fill a replacement in the morning. This was not my first experience with nerve blocks, and they don't last more than 12 hours for me. I got out around 4 that afternoon. I called back about an hour later because I was having a lot of anxiety about it wearing off in the middle of the night and not having any sort of pain relief. I was told to take the hydrocodone with Benadryl by my doctor's NP. Yupp. Severe allergy, but to take it with Benadryl. I was shocked. I said absolutely not and couldn't believe he was even suggesting it. He was very indifferent to the whole situation and told me to just go back to the ER if the pain got too bad. But I would be responsible for the bill! I had to wait until the office opened the next morning for them to send something different to the pharmacy, which opened even later, and then for them to fill it. My nerve block wore off around 2am and I didn't have any pain relief until 11:30am. I was in so much pain that I could have thrown up if it wouldn't have caused even more pain. When a nurse from the hospital called to check on me that day, I explained the situation because she was shocked that I didn't have any medication yet and she informed me that it should have been filled 2 days before my surgery to avoid complications like this. read more

All unneccessary expense were cut out. I provided my own walker, medications and appropriate clothes. Gowns only on surgery day. Even Payment plans for quality care. Shout out to PT Drew and Cody. my complaint is not with the service but with billing. I paid off a payment plan I entered with them early. their system, despite me REMOVING my bank information, continued to pull payments out from my account causing me headaches and over drafts. upgrade your system. it's apparently not smart enough to realize that payments have been made. or, it is, and you're just trying to hope people don't realize it's pulling more money than owed so you have extra cash laying around. read more

Went there for a heart catheterization. Staff left the femoral artery leaking - pseudo aneurysm. Went back to their Emergency Room that night due to swelling and pain. Ultrasonic confirmed leak. The hospital did not forward the results to the doctor even though they had specifically confirmed that they would do so. The leak continued for two weeks until i was able to have it corrected at a different hospital. I will never again take the risk of trusting Physicians Hospital. read more

I had surgery today Wednesday, June 25 and the staff was quick to get me in pre-op. Every nurse and doctor introduced their selfs to my feionce and I. Every process was explained. I forgot my socks and it's super cold they provided me with socks and listened to my needs. The nurses there are some of the best and most dedicated nurses which showed while I was their patient. My doctor was J. Allen party of the fondren orthopedic group he has a great personality and thoroughly explained my procedure. The hospital was very clean, had plenty of chairs, a great waiting room and even buzzers for the person with you do they know when they can visit. Houston Physicians Hospital was one of the best experience I've had on a out patient procedure. I highly recommend it! read more

They have an emergency room that nobody really uses because it's in the back and kind of hidden but it's awesome because there is no one ever there so they can completely just focus on you. My complaint is not with Dr. Dave, who is amazing. In my 52 years, this was the most horrible experience yet. Checked in at 10:00, IV, etc and waited 3 hours. Was told a block would be available after surgery for pain. Waited over an hour. Nurse continued to blame me for my pain due to "thrashing", while I was sedated. I requested she make a note in my chart and she had to ask her supervisor. I was not even allowed to read what was in my chart. Was told I would have to request all records but was provided no forms or information on doing this. Her story as to why my block took so long changed a few times. She asked me 3 times if I still "wanted" the blocker. I will change doctors before I ever use this "hospital" again. On a positive note, I was able to hear every staffing concern and weekend plans from the nurses at the station. 0 out of 10. I've had 2 children, natural childbirth and several procedures. This is the 1st time I was allowed to sit in this much pain. read more

Normally my family uses other local hospitals because they are familiar. I am glad that I took my two year old to Houston Physicians Hospital for his pre-op x-rays. My son is particularly difficult when it comes to medical care. Nelson and Juan in radiology (so sorry if I got your names wrong) were amazing! They took time to make sure we got the best possible picture while also helping me tame my possessed child. They were so kind and made what could have been an absolutely horrid experience more tolerable. Thank you!! I had my knee replaced here by an amazing surgeon 10 days ago and I was so please with the way we were cared for at HPH. This is my second time here. The first was as outpatient which was equally pleasant and professional. This time, as an in-patient procedure, let me just say, they are a shiny, clean, well-oiled machine! From the Joint Camp to the nursing staff and everywhere in-between, this hospital knows what quality medical care is about. My husband chose not to but could have stayed with me in the hospital and he would have been as comfortable and cared for as I was. The entire nursing and hospital staff made me feel like I was their only patient at any time and I never felt like they were rushed. I asked most of them how long they had been there because I think a happy staff provides better care. All had been there 4 years or more! I was equally impressed with their education of what I would expect as I recovered from my procedure and their urgency of explaining hygiene and prevention of infection not only while there but also once I was home. They only do orthopedic procedures so the focus and knowledge of how to achieve a successful outcome is superior to general hospitals. Their physical therapy while I was there no doubt put me on an excellent path towards a full and productive recovery. Thank you, HPH. The hospital was so nice and comfortable. Almost everyone I dealt with was so kind, compassionate and made me feel at ease. I went for a surgical repair for a pretty severe broken ankle. It was post surgery that everything fell apart. I had told the anesthesiologist that I did not want a nerve block prior to surgery. She also was made aware that DNA tests showed that morphine did work on me but I needed larger amounts of it because of the manner in which my body processes it. When I started to come out of the anesthesia in post-op, I was in excruciating pain. Above a "10" I kept asking for my husband who is my medical power of attorney, but they refused to let him come in. Then they had audacity to force me to make a medical decision when I was still heavily sedated and not in the right mind to make a good decision. I continued to ask for my husband when I could talk and they continued to refuse. They asked if I wanted a nerve block (I had said no previously to the surgical procedure). They offered no alternative but I was so in and out of it I couldn't made decisions. I groggily agreed and and they began to stick me with needles all over my leg. It was beyond words to explain the pain, panic, and lack of understanding of what was going on. And still no husband to make informed medical decisions for me. I remember them asking for an ultrasound machine; it sounded as if they were having trouble finding or doing something. Then in the middle of this painful disaster I heard a nurse calling for the anesthesiologist to get to a surgical room. My eyes still weren't open, my brain was foggy. My poor husband was waiting in the waiting room for over an hour and a half AFTER the doctor had given him the report. There was no one to tell him what was going on. He finally called the doctors office to call the hospital to see what was going on. They called the CEO and he FINALLY was allowed to come in. I'm no lawyer but I believe asking me to make medical decisions in the state I was in AND refusing to allow my medical power of attorney to make those decisions was not legal in any way. They released me just when I could talk and open my eyes. Those stupid nerve blocks didn't last long. Once I got home the pain began to return slowly. By the next morning I was told to go to their ER and I was admitted for pain control and placed on morphine pump. The staff that took care of me while admitted was amazing. What little I remember of it. I emailed the CEO about all of this and never heard back. This was an epic fail. Do they just not care about what happened to me? This happened in October. I still have nightmares about it! I refuse to ever have another surgery. My surgeon is the absolute best in the world. I will always trust him. My suggestion is to research and ask who your anesthesiologist is. Make it clear what you want and don't want. Insist that your medical power of attorney is with you in recovery. read more

Dr Tran was amazing. He removed my sons tonsils and adenoids. From the day we met him he was extremely friendly, answered any and all questions we had and was so great with our son. He made us feel very comfortable about the procedure. Communicated very well with what was going on and what to expect. Visited before and after surgery and checked on him frequently. I would HIGHLY recommended dr Tran to anyone but for even more so for children. He was great and I can't thank him enough for taking good care of my baby read more

I had an outpatient procedure and every person from checkin to preop to recovery were helpful and caring.

The staff was very concerned about my procedure. However I was called several times to go over my history, then asked on the morning of surgery if I was sure my procedure was that day. The procedure was never completed. For simple sinus surgery I signed a form stating that it would cost between $11,000 - 20,000 which would be billed to my insurance. Imagine my surprise today when I opened a bill for $140,000. The surgeon literally made three cuts then said she couldn't proceed with the surgery. No complications or any other issues. How did a $20k surgery become a $140k procedure. Most charges were duplicate charges with the same exact dollar amount, not even a penny difference. It seems fraudulent to me. read more

The staff for the most part are excellent. It seems there were a few new nurses/aids, but overall good. Registration area is clean and staff there was very courteous. The post-op (recovery room) nurse Debbie was awesome. She was on the ball!! The room and entire Hospital are very clean. I had previous experience with the Doc, so I knew he'd take care of me and he did. I'd recommend this facility to anyone. read more

went to Houston Physician Hospital because of the orthopedic surgeon that was there. Love the doctor, HATE the hospital. My child needed a MRI done on her back injury and it took a couple of weeks to finally get the appointment as insurance had to be verified and pre-approved. I got a phone call from the radiology department to schedule the appointment and at that time the scheduler told me that they have gotten my child pre-approved for the procedure and my cost would be $250 for the procedure and she wanted to know if I was OK with paying that amount on the date of service. I said that was fine and we scheduled the appointment. Imagine my surprise when I got a bill a couple of months later for over $7000 for the MRI that I was originally told would only cost me $250 out of pocket. I called my insurance company to find out why they were not paying and they informed me of many things like 1. we did not need to get pre-approval for the MRI - lie number 1 2. my insurance was out of network - so my deductible would go up - but I was never informed about this when we first scheduled the appointment 3. The average cost for an MRI in this area is $842.67 -- who's beach house am I paying for with all the extra cash 4. NO ONE INFORMED ME the total cost of the MRI prior to getting one other then assuring me that it would only cost me $250 and insurance would take care of the rest 5. HPH NEVER called the insurance company AT ALL - there was no call on record about benefits inquiry ever from that hospital - Lie number 2 6. If someone was to inform me that it would cost that much for an MRI at this place I would have told them that they lost their damm mind and gone somewhere else to get it done We waited almost 1 hour to get the procedure done and the entire time we were in the waiting room, the supervisor of the department was complaining to the two ladies behind the desk about another employee - extremely unprofessional Someone should have told me how much the MRI would have costed if insurance would not pay, but to lie and say you called the insurance company and told me I was pre-approved is UNEXCEPTABLE. Here I was thinking that the hospital had done is job correctly. When calling to inquire about the expense, their excuse is that they cannot quarentee what insurance will pay - i get that, but they should list their prices on their fancy web-site BEFORE you get anything done there. I know, some people will complain that I should have checked things out better, but I was trusting the staff to convey the correct information to me as they said they had done. i will NEVER, EVER go to this facility again, nor recommend it to anyone, and its a shame because I really like the doctor that I see there. read more

I went in Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 to have carpel tunnel surgery. I received nothing but great care from everyone at Houston Physician's Hospital. Dr. Sanchez, the anesthesiologist was great! Wonderful bedside manner! He was so nice and made me feel safe and comfortable. Everyone from the nurses to the doctors asked me repeatedly if I had any questions the whole time and also repeatedly verified my name, type of surgery, and what hand was being operated on. I received a follow up call from them checking on me today. I am very pleased with the care they provided and will return there to have surgery done on my other hand. Overall very happy with this hospital. Definitely recommend. read more
