From the design phase all the way to the final inspection, the entire process was smooth and easy. Tony and his crew did an excellent job and paid close attention to every detail during construction. I was also worried about the mess and dust that usually comes with remodeling, but they were very careful and cleaned everything at the end of each day, which we really appreciated. From…read morebeginning to end, our points of contact, Avi & Joseph have gone above and beyond for our project, walking us through the planning phases, permitting, design, construction and finishing work of the renovation. They were able to make a normally very stressful process almost stress-free, so much so that all I had to do was say "yes or no" when it came to key decisions. The Construction & More team took lead in the painful parts of dealing with permitting, PG&E, and subcontractors. They also got us in contact with their preferred vendors to help us with discounts on appliances, finishes and other materials we needed to purchase out of pocket. Overall, I found the Construction & More team extremely professional, transparent, organized, communicative and punctual when it came to the end-to-end process. They truly helped guide us through the process so we didn't have any surprises and helped us navigate any hiccups that came up. Normally, construction companies get a bad rap of being dishonest and trying to add in hidden fees and such, but Construction & More is a truly forthcoming and hardworking group of contractors who have your best interest at heart when it comes to your project no matter how big or small. For the process itself, we began with a consultation at our home to walk through the work we wanted the Construction & More team to do. For us, it was a full renovation which included removing a kitchen wall to create an open concept kitchen & living room, adding a mud room, expanding the master bedroom, moving the front and garage doors, as well as moving the ceilings to create a more open space. After the consultation was completed, we met with Avi & Joseph at their office to discuss an estimate and timeline for the work we needed done about (6-months time, pending no delays). Avi & Joseph respected our budget and were upfront and honest of how to stay within the budget and what were non-negotiables that we needed to get done. They really helped us understand what work was critical and what were nice to have to make our living space better. Once we agreed on the work, they promptly sent over a contract for signature, created a whatsapp group for real time communication, and next steps. Overall this initial process took about a week after negotiations and contract reviews. Once construction began, the team coordinated all the work. They made sure that all moving parts were well executed while setting a realistic timeline for the work to be done. All the subcontractors and tradesmen were effectively scheduled, where there wasn't a single day where there was no work being done. I felt that the team ensured that the construction was moving swiftly and the crew was respectful of our space. The crew made sure that our home was properly locked up and cleaned up after each day's work. Additionally, all the detailed finishing work was measured and completed with precision, where all the tiles placed were measured with a laser. As a bonus, the crew was also super respectful to our neighbors which is an extra plus! If you're considering a renovation of any size, but especially a full home renovation, I could not rave more about Construction & More. I called and left a message for Steve at Tri-Valley Construction, (TVC), regarding a defective…read more1/4-turn water supply line valve that needed to be replaced in our laundry room. This involved removing sheetrock, cutting pipes, installing new valves, then replacing the sheetrock, applying plaster and texture, and finally painting. This was way above my pay grade, so I reached out to Steve. Within minutes, he got back to me. He asked for photos and provided an estimate with a range, depending on the complexity of what they found. Steve sent his crew over just a few hours later to begin the project. Victor and Edgar arrived, and within minutes, the Sawzall was going to town on our wall. I'll admit, I had my reservations, but it quickly became clear that these guys knew what they were doing. Each phase required a return visit to allow the individual coats of plaster to dry, etc. Our water was only turned off for about an hour or so during the entire project, and the finished product was very good. We're now considering TVC for other projects. I would not hesitate to recommend them!

There are other companies that require so much work on your part that we dismissed them quickly. The big question is always how good are the laborers that are actually going to do the work. Overall the experience was very good; Elijah and Bryan were super friendly and responsive. Eli was very patient and accommodating as we discussed several different potential change orders, from new windows to painting, to other misc. things that popped up. Bryan Luna was especially a pleasure to work with. His attention to detail and proactivity to solve any little thing I mentioned was definitely the highlight of working with Prime. Their contracted electrician, Hector, was great as well. I also think they did a great job building out a cabinet to fit our freezer next to the matching fridge. Their master carpenter managed to salvage our existing wood to make it match perfectly. Definitely better than what I'd expect from even a carpentry specialty contractor. I will mention that it wasn't without some snags. Prime deals in volume so they're very busy. I think because I had delays in sourcing a freezer I ended up not getting a dedicated project manager for some time. We had timeline issues made worse with holidays. This caused cascading delays which inevitably pushed back my move in date a few weeks. When I finally did get a new project manager, they ghosted me (later on I found out they had a family emergency). Eli had to step in again to help. Another thing is that their pricing is quite opaque. The estimate will break down prices by milestones, but they repeated told me that it's not a valuation of the milestone itself. This made it nigh impossible to understand if I wanted to contract out specific pieces of the project (e.g. flooring). Design was OK. I felt that the designer was very busy. Sometimes very responsive (5min replies), sometimes not responsive at all (no reply). I wish I had a better, more thorough back-and-forth session about the intricacies of the design. But we made do. Ultimately, the designer made a render and helped point us to some vendors, but from there we had to make our own selection alone (cabinets, handles, pendant lights, faucets, etc.). I did appreciate her presence when we picked out countertops, though. All in all, I think this was a 4.5 star job, but I'm rounding to 5 because of Eli and Bryan :)

We hired Prime Design for a home remodel project, but unfortunately the experience has been very…read moredisappointing. There have been multiple unresolved issues with the quality of work and follow-through. One example is an LED light that continues to flicker. It has been more than six months, with many calls and text messages, but the issue still has not been fixed. Another example is damage to our garage cabinet, where a hole was created during the work. We are still waiting for this to be repaired as well. Overall, the lack of timely resolution and poor communication after the project has been extremely frustrating.

John and his subcontractors completed drywall, window replacements, stucco replacement, and some bathroom tiling and remodeling. John was very easy to communicate with and always ensured we were in the loop on the project timelines. He was drastically easier to communicate with than other contractors we've worked with. We were happy with the work done and can definitely recommend his services.

Eric is highly skilled and consistently delivers great work, we have hired him multiple times over…read morethe past few years and have always been satisfied with quality. However, communication was a big issue this time. When I asked about his charges beforehand, I didn't receive a clear response. He arrived with an additional person and billed for two hours at a rate of $225/hour without informing us in advance. For relatively small tasks, the final cost of $450 came as a surprise. We were able to get the pricing down by 100$. While I truly value his expertise, clearer communication and upfront pricing would make the overall experience much better.

While I was initially very satisfied with George's work, unfortunately a serious flaw revealed…read moreitself after about a year. The tile beneath the shower door was not installed correctly, and this led to water slowly leaking into the baseboard anytime we used the shower. After a year, mold and mildew began to rapidly grow. After getting a consultation, the conclusion was that since the tile was not installed correctly, water did not drain from the surface properly, leading to the damage you see pictured here. I reached out to George, as our contract stated that he would fix any issues resulting from his work within 4 years after completion of the original project. Thankfully, he agreed to fix the issue after inspecting the problem in person. If George had simply fixed the tile right after his inspection, I would have no need to update this review. But unfortunately, what happened next is why I need to lower my rating. After George had agreed to fix his work, it took over 1 year to get him to come back to my home and fix it. I would send him multiple emails, texts, and phone calls trying to schedule time for him to come fix the shower. He would ignore the messages for weeks on end. And when he did respond, it would be to tell me that he was traveling, or was not available at my suggested times. When I finally managed to get time with him, he would make many comments about how he felt like the issue wasn't really his fault and that he just wanted to get done ASAP. He gave me the impression that he didn't want to make things right, but that he just wanted to fulfill his contractual obligation and be done. I did not feel like a priority to him, and it was likely because there was no money to be gained from fixing his mistake. George's fix unfortunately led to another issue. Our baseboard was replaced, and the tile was adjusted. However, since the tile needed to be adjusted at an incline to allow the water to drain, the positioning of the shower glass needed to be shifted up to give it space to open. The shower door is now misaligned with the other side of the glass. An issue that can't be fixed unless we buy a whole new shower glass door. While I am still very appreciative of George's original work, I will likely need to make significant updates to this bathroom in the future. And I will not be using GT General Contractor this time around.

All were outdated and so the plan was to upgrade each property then bring them to market one at a time. It was my job to find an honest, knowledgeable, reliable General Contractor. I had interviewed several. I chose to work with George and GT General Contractor. His knowledge of the Local Building Codes stood out to me. He also had reasonable pricing. Together we worked out a contract where I would determine the upgrades, select and purchase appliances, fixtures, flooring and all major materials on behalf of my client and George would provide the minor materials and bring our vision to life. If it didn't work I could let George and GT General Contractors go and find another Contractor. It did work though. George was patient, his knowledge kept us out of trouble with the local code enforcement, He had the vision and the skillset to turn a blank canvas into something beautiful. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it was all Unicorns and rainbows, it wasn't. Every time a roadblock was in our path, George never lost focus of our final objective. So when we did pull up carpet and exposed some rotting of the subfloor or removed a section of drywall only to find some termite damage, an amendment to the original contract was created and on we went. After each house was completed I would list it on the market and every one brought a new "Highest Sale" in their neighborhood. That made me look good in my clients eyes. George and I did this 5 times over and I consider him a friend. I highly recommend George and GT Contractors if you are considering a remodel. I have since moved on from my real estate career but before I did I had sold my personal residence and who did I have help me remodel it? You guessed it. George and GT Contractors.
