I also consulted with another surgeon at a well-known medical group in S CA After seeing both surgeons, I was so impressed with Dr Qureshi's technical knowledge, calm demeanor, presentation and reputation, that I met with him a second time with my husband present. I underwent my laminoplasty and stayed 2 nights at John Muir Medical in Wslnut Creek. The care there was phenomenal. Dr Qureshi is very respected by the staff there and they commented on his abilities and concern for his patients. My surgery went perfectly and my recovery is still moving forward. I only had to wear my c-spine collar for 12 days and my crsys showed perfect placement of the titanium plates/hinges. The pain was brutal. We all know about the magic pills they were giving out then and I took a ton of them. I am not saying my back is perfect but I can guarantee you that this man saved my life with his skills as a surgeon. I recommend him to anyone suffering with back problems.

The staff has been consistent and responsive - well beyond most Dr. Offices. Previously, I had cervical fusion/decompression surgery and lumbar decompression at UCSF. Every day I wish with all my heart that I'd gone with Dr. Su for those. It's hard not to blame myself because I'm convinced if I'd gone with Dr Su initially I wouldn't be left with cervical chronic pain. Dr Su's approach is to do the most minimal surgery because you can always do more, but can't correct surgery that shouldn't have happened. In my case, this lumbar fusion and reconstruction Dr Su did on November was to correct the first aggressive lumbar decompression at UCSF. I'm now 6 weeks post surgery and feel like I'm getting my life back! Nerve recovery has been difficult and painful, and the staff has been incredible at addressing it. For the first time I feel like I'm part of a team working to heal me. Shout out to PA's Connor and Julie, and Anna and Bruno for back office support. One more thing to consider...the practice consists of several high quality doctors that offer supporting procedures adjacent to surgery.

One of the things I appreciated most was how honest and transparent both you and Dr. Su were with my prognosis. Your directness allowed me to make informed decisions without false hope, while still feeling heard and respected. You didn't just prescribe a path--you listened to my concerns and worked with my choices. The main reason I chose to fly from Los Angeles--despite the costly flights and hotel stays--was because you believe in starting with conservative care before jumping to surgery. That meant everything to me. Although Dr. Su thought my lower back MRI showed serious issues, he still agreed to try epidural injections first. Thankfully, I only needed two. Those injections gave me my life back. Before meeting you both, I had been off work for six months. Every provider I saw in L.A. pushed for surgery. As a nurse, I've seen patients come back years later with even more pain after surgery. If you get him when he is on duty when you go into the ER for a back problem, good luck. Aside from that, I would recommend finding a specialist who makes the time to manage your case.

The willingness to follow up and ensure I felt heard as a patient made a meaningful difference. Chronic pain is a complex journey and finding a physician who is willing to engage thoughtfully and take concerns seriously matters enormously. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Gussous. I was so nervous and unsure about doing a fusion…read moresurgery (L4-L5) on my back even though I could barely walk more than a few feet without going numb in the legs and feet. I couldn't stand long enough to cook a meal. Dr. Gussous looked at my MRI and CT scans and projected great confidence that a surgery would help me and I just decided to put myself in his hands. Best decision ever. Three months out and I can walk indefinitely with no discomfort. Just after the surgery, when I was recovering in the hospital, I was having some issues with my blood pressure dropping precipitously whenever I stood up. Dr. Gussous came personally to my bedside and spent about 40 minutes observing what was happening, having me stand and sit, having me walk a short distance in the hallway until he was satisfied that he understood what was going on. An amazing level of personal attention. Even the nurses were surprised. He also arranged for a week in acute rehab where I got a ton of support and instruction to see me through the rest of the recovery at home. I have done a lot of research about this procedure, including lurking around on Facebook groups where people share information about their experiences with this type of surgery. So I know that not everyone has as wonderful an outcome as I have had. I can only feel thankful to Dr. Gussous for performing an excellent surgery on me.

When I called this office and politely asked the MA for their name, I was met with attitude and a snarky "How may I help you?" simply for asking a basic question - he tone and unprofessionalism were what stood out. Upon further review, this doesn't appear to be an isolated incident--this type of attitude seems to be commonplace at this office. If multiple staff are responding this way, it suggests a larger issue with office stress levels, training, and customer service. Patients and caregivers deserve courtesy, transparency, and respect, not pushback for asking standard, reasonable questions.
