Here is my contribution: I saw Dr. Khalique for multiple sessions and it was an extremely frustrating experience, especially given the roughly $500 per visit cost. Each appointment felt like a stall tactic. He would end sessions by saying he had more thoughts to share later, pushing everything into another appointment weeks away. When I came back, instead of building on anything, it felt like we were starting over. I was hoping for actual insight and direction, but kept getting vague, non-answers instead. I had already completed a full professional evaluation elsewhere, yet when I asked straightforward questions, he refused to give any meaningful opinion and hid behind needing to "assess more". It came across less like careful professionalism and more like an unwillingness to say anything useful. He repeatedly redirected the conversation away from what I wanted to discuss and tried to frame everything as my anxiety (isn't that an easy way out, I'm sure he uses this tactic often), even when I made it clear that wasn't why I was there. It felt extremely dismissive and unhelpful. At one point he also made what I considered unreasonable and insensitive comments about basic parenting decisions that weren't even the reason for the visit. That was clearly a red flag, and I regret not stopping the session at that moment. The final session ended with me walking out because it was clear he wasn't going to help me. I have NEVER done this before. As I was leaving, he tried to hand me a list of psychiatrists who take my insurance. I told him insurance wasn't the issue and that I just needed someone who could actually help. Shows how money focused he is. Looking back, I'm relieved I stopped when I did. Each visit was expensive, unhelpful, unproductive and ultimately a waste of time and money. I genuinely feel like I dodged a bullet by moving on. There are better options out there. If you want someone extremely useless, insensitive, indirect and slow to offer any real feedback, this may be fine. If you want practical guidance, clear opinions, or to feel heard, I would strongly consider looking elsewhere. Strong strong strong pass. read more

We may not love our doctor enough to continue dealing with the terrible office staff and their absolute lack of ability to do basically any part of their jobs. They do not return phone calls. When you call, there is a long-winded voice message and no option to actually talk to a person--you're just supposed to leave a message (that won't be returned). If you do happen to get someone in the phone, they are rude and unhelpful anyway. They do not communicate well and won't let you know if/when the doctor is running late or any other updates. Just absolutely awful all around. read more

Extremely RUDE receptionist. The woman wouldn't identify herself, but you know who you are. Your boss can identify you as the person on the answering machine. She intentionally put me on hold indefinitely. Then when I called her back, she canceled the call so it went straight to voicemail. As a for-profit clinic, your receptionist is the first interaction a client has to your providers. She sabotages your business by losing you a client. This is your job. Treat it with some respect. At the very least, don't give your client attitude. read more

Before I start my review, it's worth adding that I was a patient of Doctor Khalique for about 10 years, all the way back since he was working at his old office in Pleasanton. The review: Costs and Expenses: this must be the most expensive medical office I've ever used, I used to get statements from my insurance provider and most recently for a silly 20 minute phone appointment this office tried to charge my insurance almost $400! That's highway robbery! Psychiatric Care through the use of medication: I found Doctor Khalique to be bit of an amateur compared to a lot of other specialty doctors. He did not understand any of the medications he was prescribing me or how they worked, not sure why if his office was filled with hundreds of books on chemical breakdowns? He insisted on always prescribing things things that were at least 30-40 years old instead of trying the new medications that have been proven to be much more affective. At one point I was on 5 or 6 medications, even had some allergic reactions because he had the dose so high, stopped most of them and it had no effect, it had no effect because I did not need to be on most of them. Going back to old mediations, he uses a lot of old medications that aren't very effective but a lot of side effects, caused me to gain 200 pounds, didn't know until I met a doctor who was just a regular doctor who knew about the medication. Why does my primary care physician at kaiser know more about medications than a specialty doctor like dr K? The office: you show up early and they always run late, appointments are generally an hour, I've found mine to always go about 20 minutes; not longer than 30, yet my insurance company was always billed a full hourly rate?? Not sure why my appointments are always cut short but I have to wait 15-20 minutes every time I come in. The same receptionist has always been there, have found the same with others, she was always rude and difficult to deal with. They have the old $75 late or missed appointment charge, although I'm sure it's much more now?? In the end I would never consider this office for psychiatric care. read more

tried to schedule an appointment and the receptionist was talking so fast i couldnt understand her. I had to ask her to slow down multiple times. She was making it very difficult to schedule an appointment. Wanted me to fill out new patient forms online and email them back (impossible because they are not the kind of forms you can fill out on line. you would have to print them out, scan then, and then email them back)and give them all of my insurance and private information before they would even consider making an appointment. I've been with this office for awhile now and NEVER liked the staff. My dr is wonderful, but you can blame their staff for this negative review. When I first started coming here, I had to avoid calling the front desk because they were terribly rude and insensitive. Nothing has changed. They're not helpful when it comes to getting a prior authorization. They do NOT update you whether it has been approved or denied. I've been needing this form sent in to insurance since January and they finally did it in March.. however it was denied because they didn't put the right diagnosis from what my insurance said. So, I have been out of medication since January, only using EXPIRED samples that were given to me by the office. Better than nothing I guess? Terrible staff. Please avoid this place at all costs until they get a better staff. I love my dr but I have to look for a new one with a better office staff. read more

Dr. Rahat Aulakh is warm, intelligent and easy to talk to. I went to see her about having anxiety issues about driving. I had been suffering with this for over five years. The fear of driving over bridges, long freeway ramps had been getting worse over time. I thought I was going out of my mind. I tried everything I could on my own. A friend of mine happened to tell me of similar fears she was having and referred me to Dr. Aulakh. She knew exactly what to prescribe, which cleared up this problem within a few weeks. I have been her patient ever since that time. I commend her professionalism and sense of compassion. read more

We had only one appointment with Dr. Khalique in August of this year. We were supposed to have a follow up visit in September but the insurance messed up the claims and refused payment. We were in deer need for ABA services and asked Dr. Khalique to provide a letter for the insurance, time essential. I was charged $40 for the letter. The letter was never mailed and it took three attempts to receive it faxed. The letter didn't contain any of my son's existing diagnostics and as a result it was useless for the insurance. I talked to Rena multiple times regarding this issue and requested in writing the letter to be rectified. Rena is unprofessional and rude. Obviously this office doesn't care about the health of the children, it is only about their revenue. read more

Worse place ever. No one ever answers the phone so I reached out to them via their online platform. They kept sending me emails when I was trying to become a patient. I became extremely frustrated because they kept asking me to send photos of my insurance card and a contact number for my insurance. I eventually told them to go to hell and I'd find help elsewhere. If anyone is having a psychotic break and reaches out to these inept idiots, they would definitely be pushed over the edge. This place needs to be shut down. read more

This is a review of their communications and billing. They sent me an invoice with no phone number on it, so I had to track down the phone number. But when I called I was unable to speak to a human. They should put a phone number on their invoices. And it would be nice to be able to speak to a human. read more

My 9 year old son started to see Dr. Mohsin Khalique for his ADHD/ODD condition from a referral from our pediatrician. We had about 5 visits and been checking the impact of the medication he was taking based on Dr.'s recommendation. His approach seemed to be kid-friendly but the whole atmosphere seemed a bit like a factory with his clients coming in and out of his office while we were in waiting area with appointments typically running behind schedule. Our time with him typically lasted 15 to 30 minutes. I asked him a few times during our appointment if it was ok to reach out if we had a question or 2 between appointments and he said we can call, but email would be faster to get a response. On our last visit, his recommendation was to go from 20 to 30mg of this particular drug, Vyvanse. After the 2nd day of the increased dosage, my son seemed to have passed out after a soccer practice and he woke up hyperventilating and saying he had pain in his chest and stomach. We could not get him to calm down and breathe normally, so we immediately took him to the John Muir emergency room. They were excellent and after doing their testing and providing hydration, we were able to take him home in a few hours without any real diagnosis. This is pretty scary for any parent to go through. The next morning we emailed Dr. Khalique to notify him of this incident and to discuss the dosage and medication. 48 hours later, no response, so resent the email. 48 hours later, no response. We called the office and the receptionist said he has been busy but will call back shortly. 2 weeks later, still no response. WOW!!!! I am completely shocked at the no-response to something potentially very serious and dangerous. These are narcotics which we really did not want to have to give to our child and was relying completely on his knowledge. He did not have the professionalism to get back to emails or calls and discuss the recent increase in dosage and we are at a loss on why. We cancelled all future appointments and would highly recommend to stay away from this guy. In fact, you can make a case that this guy should be stripped of his license. read more

I just called to make an appointment for my elderly father and the receptionist said that they don't take clients who are not in network, even if they can pay out of pocket. This is the first I've heard of a medical group not accepting new patients who are not in network (other than Kaiser). So if you are not in network - which they wouldn't share - you're out of luck. Or maybe it's just age discrimination, either way, terrible experience. read more

This review is for Dr. Rahat. DO NOT TRUST HER CONFIDENTIALITY. First, It is hard enough to be able to talk to someone to make an appointment as the receptionists rarely answer the phone, and if they call you back is usually a couple days later. She does not provide an email or direct phone number to contact her. I had been working with her since around September 2016. I thought she was a caring doctor and responsible, as she seemed, BUT, don't be mislead by her character. She started by prescribing me lamictal to stabilize me and Zoloft as I was very depressed. I told her something was wrong with the lamictal, as it was making me more stressed than usual. It was wearing down my relationships. I told her I wanted to get off of it because I was unusually irritable. Then Adderal for my ADD about weeks later. Bad combo I guess. I kept telling her I felt more irritable and instead of taking me off, she wanted to up my Lamictal, AND add a BENZO (klonopine) to my cocktail. I'm young (35) and a single mother. I told her the last thing I wanted is to become the pill lady (a typical posh drug addict, but with legal prescriptions). My ex husband had been addicted to benzos thanks to this culture (and his mom and doctor) of giving chill pills to kids to conform and behave, instead of giving them skills to learn to live in society. I told her I didn't want to be treated with anything addictive, and she still tried to convince me it was the solution or another med that would make me gain weight. I'm a woman. Come on! Gain weight to chill, then fall into depression for being overweight is not a solution (for me). Well, I denied as I should. And went on a search for natural ways to treat my condition. Weeks later things got too hard and since I after calling 5 times, no answers and no call backs, I decided to drive close to a 1/2 hour and show up in her office to try to be seen. Obviously I was a bit pissed off and told to her receptionists how come they never call back on the same day?! Whatever you do, DO NOT TRUST HER CONFIDENTIALITY. I was crying and was asking her for a solution as I told her I was ready to try again. I said I felt like dying (although didn't have a plan to kill myself, obviously as Im a mom). SHE'S NOT A GOOD LISTENER. She likes to repeat saying that I had symptoms that I didn't have. She showed me a flyer about KETAMINE, an anesthetic treatment vastly used by vetenerians that has NOT even yet been approved by the FDA for psychiatric treatments, but it has been for pain. I was so desperate to get well, I said yes, I'll do this today! I wanted to get well and save my relationship. My boyfriend had told me the only way he would stay is if I got treated. What I did not realize is that while she was bulshitting me with the flyer, she had already called 911. And I was dumped at a nasty hospital and drugged with benzos instead of getting any kind of counseling or treatment options and my boyfriend left, which made me even more lost and depressed. Dr, if someone shows up asking for help it means they don't want to killl themselves. Obviously if I wanted to kill myself, I wouldn't first drive to my doctor to ask to get well. If I was trying to get well, is because I was looking for life. DUH! Then when I got out of the hospital still confused, I called the Ketamine office to try to get appointments. I spent the afternoon trying to ask other parents to pick my son at school for my after treatments as they are so hardcore I wouldn't be able to drive. After I got all the week figured out, they told me my DOCTOR NEVER SENT THE REFERRAL PAPERS for those treatments and they cancelled my appointments. She also changed her mind and said I shouldn't do Ketamine, that I should go back into meds to stabilize me. Which is bullshit, because Ketamine is meant to be for urgent situations. She wanted to keep me like a zombie because she knows I always pay cash, as I have no insurance. And still to this moment no one offered me any other solutions. Obviously I called her and yelled at her for betraying my TRUST as patient. I became aggressive with my words since I started treatment with her. I lost my boyfriend, my business, all because she messed up the meds she prescribed me. I don't even know what to do from now on. I'm lost and if I lose my mind, I just want everyone to know she was the doctor treating me who betrayed me and the meds she prescribed me RUINED my life. Save yourself and find someone else. read more

I'm so lucky that I found this group first and didn't have to poke around. Dr. Alukah has been absolutely wonderful to me. She doesn't do the whole "how does that make you feel" like so many do. She listens to everything I say and repeats it to make sure she understands. She have a wonderful understanding of medications and coping mechanisms to help me through my mental health. read more

Dr. Ali is one of the best psychiatrists I have ever met. I have seen a lot of different providers and he is the only one who truly understands me. In the past, many psychiatrists ignored my opinion and provided medications that worsened my conditions when I told them I knew it would have an adverse effect. Psychiatrists should take into consideration a patient's opinion because a medication is not a one size fits all. It's also critical that the patient does his or her research about his or her condition when coming in to meet the doctor. The reason why Dr Ali and I are such a great fit and the reason why I am doing so well in my treatment is that I do a thorough research on the medications and treatment for my illnesses before coming to meet with Dr Ali. Then I suggest to him if these certain medications would be okay and he gives me more details on them and either approves them or not. Many patients come out unhappy because they go in hoping the psychiatrist will give them a magic pill that'll fix everything. Truth is, life doesn't work that way. The patient needs to put in effort in doing their part of the work because the patient understands his condition the best. The psychiatrist can only go based on your words and sometimes, it may not be very accurate or descriptive enough to be a thorough diagnosis. Anyway, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BAY AREA PSYCHIATRIC AND DR.
