Rat/mice droppings
Denice L.

Bay Area self storage has failed to keep there facility at standard care. We are extremely concerned for future renters. My Husband came to the manager Chris 6 months ago regarding rodent activity within my storage unit. Feces & mice/rat Droppings have been found once again after inspecting it a couple days ago. When we first noticed this issue we took it upon ourselves to clean it up and further inspect the unit for live activity, in which nothing else was found at that time. I returned a couple months later to check on my unit and found my storage unit was infested with the rat/mice droppings. Indicating the Bay Area self storage took no action, failing to notify tenants & negligent by failing to resolve the problem, that was discuss months prior. The storage hallways reeked from the smell of rat/mice urine being it unbearable & unsafe to be in that kind of environment. Our items/furniture that were placed in this storage have been destroyed by feces, rat droppings & chewed up personal belongings. We had everything in that storage, our lifelong memories that can never be replaced and things we hoped to pass down to our children. It hurts to know we have to start all over again! Items that we had were two full bedrooms sets, nightstands & 2 big dressers, kitchen table with 8 chairs, Two box springs and multiple home goods items. The most sentimental item was my wedding dress. I couldn't help but cry and be very disappointed to find the item, that I cherished the most destroyed and taken away from me. Our wish of passing this down to our daughter is now robbed. Those items can never be replaced and Bay Area self storage should be held responsible for negligence to take the proper steps by notify the resident in the area. We recently found out that another tenant that's renting a locker couple of rows back (who overheard our complaints while in the office) went and inspected his unit, to find out, he also has dropping throughout his unit! This is just ridiculous and truly hope no one else has to experience this stress. Also: You would expect the company as a customer service gesture to compensate you and assist you with moving the furniture and cleaning the locker unit right? WRONG! YOU BETTER come in with your own cleaning supplies, face mask, air freshener, gloves, napkins ect... because the best they can do is come over with a small broom... Jesus the janitor was kind enough to bring us a couple of garbage bags and help my husband move 3 boxes while he was up in a ladder trying to find out if anything was salvageable. I do want to thank Shirley for giving my husband and I some water while working hard, & checking in on us. I am so sorry you have to be the middle person, I did feel a genuine apology from you, so we thank you for that.... For those with current or recent similar experience please feel free to email be back at denicetenorio1990@gmail.com

I really had my heart set on a drive-up unit because I know myself well enough to know I'd eventually get frustrated lugging all my belongings onto a cart and rolling everything through the hallways to my unit. Right from the beginning, I received a message from their team, Melissa and the communication was incredibly prompt, friendly, and professional. Mark and Val greeted me when I arrived and Val personally showed me the two storage units I was interested in. Let's put it this way -- their drive-up units are so popular there's actually a waiting list for them. As Val walked me through one of their newly built climate-controlled buildings, it honestly felt like Fort Knox with how secure and well-maintained everything was. The property was spotless, modern, organized, and gave me a really safe feeling knowing belongings would be protected there. Even though I ended up needing something different for convenience purposes, I still wanted to recognize the great customer service and positive experience I had here. You can tell they genuinely care about the property and the people renting from them. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Silver Creek Storage to anyone looking for a clean, secure, and professionally run storage facility. They currently have awesome promotions rates for 2 - 4 months!!!

Would highly recommend if you need to rent some storage space. A little annoying if you live towards the west of the facility as you have to go a little more than a mile up the hill to turn back the other direction, but it isn't too bad.

In our first year at SecureSpace Storage, we have experienced several positives. The facility's…read moreproximity to our home has been a distinct advantage. The rental managers have consistently demonstrated exceptional politeness, helpfulness, and a welcoming attitude. The newer facility ensures a clean and well-maintained environment. Additionally, the indoor setting is nice if it happens to be raining. Parking has always been hassle-free, and carts are readily available for transporting our items into the unit. The convenient operating hours (6:00 AM to 10:00 PM) allow ample time for after work visits As an individual with mobility challenges, the elevators have proven to be a valuable feature. We have found that SecureSpace Storage has been transparent and fair in its pricing practices for the most part. Initially, we rented a 10x10 unit in December 2024, but our son moved home and a larger 10x20 unit was needed. The rental team promptly transferred our initial discount to the new unit, and our half-off offer remained in effect for the first two months as agreed upon. In the third month, the regular rate became applicable, but this was consistent with our prior understanding, eliminating any surprises. After four months, SecureSpace Storage informed us of a $150 increase in our rate. This unexpected change surprised us, as our experience in the Bay Area suggests that rate hikes are common after a year and typically ranged from 25% to 30%. At the time, our monthly rate was $253, making the $150 increase approximately 60%, which was a bit steep. Despite this, we decided to go ahead and pay it due to our positive experience and satisfaction with the unit. We also didn't want to take the time and effort in searching for an alternative storage facility, relocating our belongings, etc. In November, we received an email informing us that our rental rate would be increasing by 25%, resulting in a monthly increase from $403 to $503. I have started comparing our pricing to other units in the vicinity. I have identified some units where the non-discounted rents range from the high $200s to the mid $300s, and these units are comparable to ours (indoor units, elevators, roll-up doors, etc.). Interestingly, the most expensive non-discounted rate for a 10x20 unit is $351 on the SecureSpace website, $150 less than our rate increase price. At this juncture, I believe the most prudent course of action for my family is to hire someone to help us in clearing out our garage and attic, so we can store our belongings ourselves and thereby save money in the long term. Yes, I could talk to one of the managers about pricing options, but I'm not sure they'd be willing to drop us down to $351, which is what we'd ask for. I'm also concerned they'd raise the price up again after 2+ months, but I'd need to review my contract with them to make sure what their policies are. So to sum it up: For the good customer service, facility cleanliness, and convenience + 5 Stars. For the pricing/rate increases: - 2 Stars Total Review: 3 stars. If you're looking for a good facility to rent from, I would recommend Secure Space. Just be certain to ask about their rate increase policy, including frequency and percentages so you go in as an informed consumer. They sent two wonderful guys who were so efficient and hard-working. We were not able to finish everything in one day so I requested that they come back the next week for another session of packing. Both times, they arrived exactly when they said they would and brought all the moving materials in their truck so I did not have to pre-buy anything. I even needed special boxes for artwork and wine bottles and they provided those as well. I thought the price was very reasonable for what they did. I was not able to use them for the moving truck because I am moving out of state. (However, the owner said he would soon be getting the out-of-state license so that will be a service that is available in the future.) I'm happy to provide my highest recommendation for this company and the people who work there.

Finally getting around to a kudos review of Lunardi Moving Services…read more Executive Summary: Pros all the way. That said, the details: We were recommended to Lunardi for our short distance move within San Jose by friends who had previously contracted with them for their own local moves (Silicon Valley). We had them move our "packed to the gills" 1400 sq ft home plus loaded two-car garage to a slightly larger home about 2.5 miles away from each other. Initial price quote was a bit higher than a couple of the other companies contacted but felt it was worthwhile and still reasonable given that they were a "friend-recommended" company. Our final payment amount did come out a bit higher at the end of the day but that was due to OUR adding more to the load than what I originally told them that required a second round trip. On top of that, we had them haul away and dispose of a number of large items that we decided to not hassle with selling or otherwise disposing of ourselves. (Large cabinets, desk, chairs and more.) The moving crew was on time, started right in as soon as they got to our place and took extra time being VERY CAREFUL with our more fragile items (and honestly, items that weren't even what I would have considered that fragile). Meaning: they went over and above by plastic wrapping and padding things that I personally would have just thrown in a truck! Special notes: They also moved our baby grand piano, taking care to disassemble the legs and top, wrapping everything with padding and reassembling perfectly at our destination. When I moved a dozen years ago, I had to have a specialty mover move the piano so this was a definite plus!! And, on top of that, they moved a very large "crafting cabinet" with swing out doors (that contain integral storage making it double deep) and moved it into its destination room whose entrance hall way and door was barely wide enough to fit through and required a very tight turn/maneuver to get it in! I had walked away from watching them in the tight hallway (see pic) to do something else and when I returned less than five minutes later, it was in the room exactly where it was supposed to go. I was scratching my head wondering, "How did they do that?!" But no matter, they did! They were also careful in making sure that related items (like TVs and their remote controls or tables and their legs) were bundled together and securely affixed to each other so it minimized our having to look all over for items that went together. That was much appreciated. All in all, they made our move very smooth and efficient. If I were moving again - which I NEVER want to do again, haha! - will call Lunardi first. Special shout out to Daniel Navarro, our "moving consultant" at Lunardi for being prompt, courteous and a pleasure to work with. But, have to say that everyone on the crew were excellent! Yup, pros all the way!
